Butler Out

Perry can dominate dj.

And Arkansas starting guard is out too so these things happen everywhere.
We just need Butler to help penetrate and drive. He's fantastic at it for the most part and it helps to have him out there.

I wish Kerr hadn't gotten hurt. He's just kind of that glue and energy guy. Similar to Carr.

Butler is an elite defender. He’s just been hurt.
His shoulder is hurt, but as I pointed out in another thread the other day he has issues on defense. Occasionally he'll get a steal, but he lets guys go right past him. That shouldn't affect his lateral movement unless he's trying to protect his shoulder (getting rammed there would hurt like hell). He struggles against quicker players.

I think the player we need the most out of the two is Carr. If Butler were an elite defender (he's not), then I might think differently.
Butler is a very elite defender, what he is not is a creation type of PG. He is best when he can be a menace defending the other teams guard

I differ with you. If Almonor continues shooting 3s the way he has been, we are not hurt that much by not having Carr. However, not having our first or second point guard is a huge blow.
On offense, maybe. Lamont struggles GREATLY finishing at the rim, and tends to have tunnel vision where he doesn't kick it to open players. Bringing the ball up the court? Probably no one I'd want handling the rock more than Butler.

The scouting reports say otherwise. Don't believe everything game-time announcers say, lol. He doesn't move the needle as much as some here think. The stats don't support him being a "very elite defender", unless you're comparing him to his teammates. Oweh, in slighly more minutes, has not as many assists (5 vs 2), but even on steals, slightly better at blocking, fewer turnovers, way better rebounder. I like Lamont, great fighter out there.

He won DPOY in his conference. And has been good on ball here. His issue here is his 7 footer won’t block shots like he had at SDSU.

We have other players who can do what Carr does, but we have no one else who can easily bring the ball up the court and get the team into its offense like Butler.

I agree with him bringing the ball up. I'm not alone in saying that the ball has moved better when he was sitting. If he would start driving AND KICKING IT OUT that would help a lot.

The one person I want to have a good game tomorrow (if gets much playing time) Is Travis Perry. While Perry still needs work, I remember Cal saying that Perry would never play and he's just there because he's from KY. That pissed me off when I heard that.

Williams supposedly did too. And he can’t guard in s phone booth.

This is a step up. Butler is a better defender than Williams has turned out to be. But neither are making an all defense team is this league.

This is 100% true. He is elite defender who was trying to push through. I get the sense he may be out awhile. Haven’t heard anything, just reading the tea leaves.
If Butler is an elite defender, then I'm a Catholic priest and I'm not Catholic. I do wish he were playing though, especially if he could replicate the Louisville game.

Wouldn't it be freaking awesome if Perry went off and stared down Cal :D
