Butler can’t move, time for Chandler

His shoulder is clearly not mobile. He loses control of the ball a lot and he can’t play aggressively.

Pope said his shoulder is hanging by a string and taped together.

We might have fooled Troy for a few minutes last night but Illinois isn’t stupid. No chance we get past somebody like Tennessee with Butler playing significantly.

Pope needs to make a decision and stop monkeying with the lineup. Chandler needs to start.
Love how Chandler is progressing.

I believe that big brace is severely limiting Butlers left side mobility.

Your last statement is one of the stupidest comments I’ve ever read on here ….and I have been here since 2002 , lol .

What I heard was hyperbole but clearly his shoulder is not well.

Thanks for proving my point.

Keep moving those goalposts, skippy.
So your entire thread and position is based on what you recognize as hyperbole but you still continue? Half the team has injuries you’re not hearing about.

Butler was 0-5 with 2 turnovers against the "talent level of the opponent."

How will he do against Illinois? Hopefully better. But according to your logic?
Right. And he was +22 for the game. Don’t be dumb. The entire board disagrees with you. That takes some doing. Just clap when we score and be a fan. Leave the basketball talk to those that have half a clue what’s happening on the court.

I recognize Pope was trying to make a point, but even Butler refused to discuss his injury. From your article:

When asked after the game how he was handling his injuries, Butler deflected the question.

“I’m doing alright. We won, so I’m excited. We’ve got to play better on Sunday,” Butler said.
Butler's clearly not well. How can you deny that?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I have 3 questions related to your hypothesis about Butler.

1. Who was Sunbelt player of the year this year?
2. Did conference player of the year struggle yesterday?
3. Why do you think he struggled?

These are not trick questions. Just would like to hear your coaching analysis to these questions.

Not the entire board. And I really don't care about your opinion. If you can't see that Butler isn't playing well, then I have no use for you. Did you even see Butler lose control of the ball? Nope.

I never said anything about Butler's defense, did I? I'm concerned with our inconsistent scoring.

You love straw men, don't you.

Me changing goal posts? You say “hanging by a string” “replace butler with chandler”. Now it’s butler saying he’s “alright” and you say he’s “clearly not well”. You’re stirring the pot por nada. Butler is the starter. I mean are you already preparing your low expectations excuse?

We recruited butler for his ball handling, running the point and DEFENSE!!!! He can do all of that. But let’s replace out only ncaat success with a green freshman. That makes so much sense.

He was 0-5 with two turnovers.

I'm more concerned with our scoring droughts. That's where Troy made it a game. Chandler came in and gave us separation and we never looked back.

Troy was a terrible team compared to Illinois or Tennessee. They will expose Butler. Sorry you don't like the truth.
because it's your opinion doesn't make it truth

You are correct, he didn’t play well. Regardless of being hurt or not, his performance wasn’t good. What you are dead wrong and clueless about is Chandler being a better option.

We lose if we have to rely on Chandler being the main PG, So we go with Butler and if his injury causes us to lose, then there was no way we could have won and injuries derailed our chances in the post season. Butler just has to run the team, bring the ball up against pressure and play defense, we dont need him to score .

Teams know about Butler’s injury and will be setting high screens that he’ll be running into, most probably, trying to guard ball-handlers going right. Opponents do not want to injure him, of course, but they know his left shoulder is tender. The screens may create enough pain and aggravation that forces Butler to leave the game more than he/Pope/our team would like. If so, the bench will need to step up.

Dude, you seem to get sensitive when people disagree with you and start throwing around accusations of “straw men, 4th grader, etc …”

Let’s back up to your OP. I read and interpreted you to mean Chandler should get more of Butler’s mins and Pope should stop tinkering with lineups. You later point out Chandler’s scoring and Butler’s lack of scoring. These are only 2 players you mention so logically I assume you’re suggesting Chandler get more of Butler’s minutes. Let me know if I’m wrong.

You say I’m creating a straw man. I literally asked you the name of the POY and how he fared last night. Isn’t that the opposite of a straw man?

I doubt you answer my question about how that literal player fared last night and why he struggled, while continuing to dodge the question. (You can still take time to answer the questions about the real player I asked about.)

Let’s end on some common ground. I’m fine if Chandler gets Perry’s minutes and even some of Noah’s minutes depending on rebounding. However, the only time Butler should be out of the game (barring injury and foul trouble) is to catch a break around a TV timeout.

This. 99% chance we lose tomorrow if butler doesn't play.

With him, even not 100%, we are closer to 50 50 IMO.

False. I'm looking at last night's game. That's the most recent evidence. And you're pushing a straw man. I never said "don't let Butler play."

Did I.

Show me ONE POST where I've said I don't like Pope. All I did was criticize his insane lineup changes. Which he hasn't done all year.

You're not helping your buddies' cases. You should go back to being silent, you look less like a fool that way.
You get so defensive and start name calling when someone disagrees with you. Come on man. We can have different opinions and it’s okay. We’re all in this together. GBB.

Like I said, we don’t need him shooting 3’s. Defense is our bigger problem.
2 TOs is not uncommonly high for a PG

Sorry you can’t understand there is more to the game than just offense.

Butler is a shell of himself.

But…

He is the heart and soul of this team. The engine that drives us on both ends.

I don’t think we will win even with him playing hurt, but we have no chance without him, even in his current state.

It’s a shame. With a healthy Butler, we would have a shot at making it to the Final Four.

Did Butler play when we beat tennessee at tennessee? Did he play here when we played tennessee? At tennessee no butler but we had robinson, at rupp neither played. We won both games.

Unless something has recently changed, I understand why you think his injured shoulder is connected to his legs and feet.

Butler is clearly limited. But Chandler is not the answer. He’s about as far from being a point as Oweh.

Pope has limited options to replace Butler.

Are we a better team with a limited Butler playing? Probably.

The goal is to win. Play the guys that help us win. We can’t call up anyone from the G League to help.

I like Perry but he’s not ready.

Tomorrow either by playing good defense or the luck of the Illinois not having a good game like in the recent past, we will need some help to move on. If we get past them and we have to play Tennessee we are better suited to play them as we beat them 2 times. Illinois game will be very hard game. Foul trouble (if it follows us like it has in the past) will be the biggest issue. We tend to play up or down to our competition. Pope and coaches will have us as ready as we can be. GO BIG BLUE. Love this first year win or lose tomorrow. We have gained 2 games on Kansas overall this year, I think.

The thing with Chandler is is that his ballhandling is very poor and sloppy. His inability to take care of the ball with sound dribbling and passes make it difficult to trust him in a guard position.

Bulter can't move so we need chandler in the game. Lol. It is a lot more to it than simply moving. It is all about what you do with your movement. Unless there has been a major change in his play that I missed, Chandler is nowhere near ready to replace Butler.

Someone said Amari is also nursing an injury. Not sure.

I honestly think he is just uncoordinated with the ball in his hands. He only averaged 12 ppg at Drexel last year.
If that is his excuse for being lazy at times, he has been nursing an injury for the entire season.

It is laughable when kids attempt to post about things they know very little about.

We certainly need Chandler, along with every other player that plays meaningful minutes, but to rely on Chandler as a ball handler would be far from ideal.

The one area that Kentucky must improve on is taking care of the ball and eliminating sloppy turnovers. We turn the ball over so much, that if we improve on this aspect even a little, would be huge for us.

Let's hope Pope can scheme up something that helps our guys get open quicker and cuts down on our guards holding onto the ball too long.

GO BIG BLUE!

Using Chandler and the other freshmen is all about matchups. Pope needs to make certain that he is laser focused on matchups.

I don’t know about all that. Just think he’s uncoordinated when he’s trying to put the ball in the basket.

You are calling him uncoordinated while the talking heads are calling him athletic. After his most embarrassing miss under the basket, he was coordinated enough to put down a strong dunk. He seemed to have been coordinated enough to go coast to coast on his first dunk. It has nothing to do with coordination. It is all about desire and attitude.

Chandler is either zero or hero never anything between. Perry was awful last night. Butler was clearly even less healthy than before and less effective on O.

We're playing with house money from here on imo
For a supposed shooter, Perry shoots a lot of bricks- we need him to make a couple open shots

Didn’t realize I was talking to Sigmund Freud. Apologies.

So, you don't expect a comeback when you dish it out? Maybe you should ask what is wrong with you.
Maybe so. But saying that missing wide open point blank layups is attributable to “desire” is a spectacularly horrible take. Figured you must have at least a masters in psychology.
