Bush Hamden!!

When a restaurant fires the head chef and changes grocery suppliers multiple times but the food still tastes the same, eventually it ain't the chef or the ingredients, it's the manager. Same with football, We've changed who's running our offense, and who's designing the offense, but it's the same crap, so it's the guy making the hires... Stoops. If we want the flavor to change, we gotta change the recipe.
Great analogy

This is a half truth. He admitted to calling a run play 3 yards out in 1st and goal. And we scored. Plenty of ammo to go at Stoops when it comes to offense but this one is a poor choice.
If he is admitting in public he does this, what is he doing? Come on. Hamden everywhere else had a very wide open offense. He comes to KENTUCKY and gets stupid? Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Stoops even admitted to calling run plays in Florida game, meaning he told Hamden to pound the ball and not throw. He admitted to one drive. I will say this one last time. Hamden is having to call plays from a very short (collar and leash) playbook on him. Point Blank plain and simple. Too many OC have been here and had similar issues.

That isnt calling plays. Thats giving direction and thank god he did because being too cute and overthinking is one reason hamden struggles on short yardage and rz.

The offense was fine to good the last several years. That isnt changed by the fact some fans didnt find it exciting because 1) they didn't throw enough or 2) they didn't go fast enough.

PPG and yardage are probably more in line with the actual frustration of the fans. UK has been either one of the worst teams in fbs most years or sometimes middling.

I do not not have a problem with a run game. At all. My point being is we have had several (young and considered very good OC guys here) all have not done what they did in past. On top of that I take the little things that slip out by Stoops.
This summer he as quoted saying this is the SEC not Mountain West, it is big boy football and you have to have a run game. my point (even though you do not actually have an RB1 on this team right now).

Then the I directed or told Hamden to run it in. His love on 1950s football is all over this team. He wants smash mouth football without a smash mouth OLINE, RB and such. If you cannot adapt each and every year to your personnel you will fail.

We moved the ball fine, just arent getting in the endzone. Of course scoring is what matters but it isnt like we're going 3 and out all the time.

We do have that OL. We showed it every time we decide to actually line up and run the ball without being cute. We ran on Georgia extremely well. We had success inside vs every team we faced.

One thing that hurts us in down and inches is poor/high play from our C and poor play from jager. Cox comes off the ball way too high and lets the ng submarine hin which causes the whole thing to go nowhere. Jager is just mediocre altogether.

The 1950s comment is indeed a shot about excitement. The focus should be on winning and running the ball, with this personnel, is what wins. It moves the ball and opens up play action where we do well. Winning should excite people as im sure it excited Michigan last year.

We run the ball significantly better than we throw it. Moved away from the run too much against Vandy and USC and then were forced to against FL due to the game getting out of hand in 2nd Q. In all honestly, if we played Eddie Gran football we're probably 6-1 at this point.

Love this debate. I would agree with most of what you are saying except we are the worst scoring team in the SEC. Great you can run between the 20s and can kick field goals. This team cannot score TD's. That is a line and scheme thing. Heck put 0 in the backfield and do the Fridge if you are on 4th and goal at the 1. Put your best TE in as up back and follow him. Heck do something. Crazy (Bill Curry ball), crazy = lining up and doing the same crap over and over week to week. No Crod, Benny on this team to help with mistakes in blocking scheme. Dont get cute, get smart. Use what you have all 85 guys to do something different. If I was a coach with this much issues scoring, I would find the best big (speed, agility and so forth), have them practicing how to block or take the ball for a 1-3 yard TD run. Or teach them how to block as an up back. Anything is better than the stupidity right now. I did not watch 1 second or Florida, knew we were beat before we went down there. Have not seen 1 highlight. Will do the same this week. I have lost all want to follow this coaching staff from here on out this year. I will wait till next year and start again.

You cant just look at ppg. Over the years we played slow by design, limiting our snaps. The irony is that helped us win games the way teams like vandy and uf beat us

Its scheme. If it was personnel, we could never run the ball. Bush gets too cute. Usually throws a down away with qb power by wimsatt.

Plus he is unimaginative when it comes to key play design (3rd/4th/2pt). Its glaring because coen was awesome at it and scang was good too. So bush following them just makes it more glaring.

You are correct here at KENTUCKY. Go look at what he did elsewhere. A guy does not get stupid moving from Idaho to Kentucky. He did not get stupid moving from Columbia MO to Idaho. All I am saying is the fit is not right. He is a better OC and would do fine at many other SEC schools. Heck Oklahoma would love to have the guy I bet. If Stoops is here then you have to recruit bigger stronger backs and you have to have the OLINE be guys that want to kill everything in front of it like Fortner. We have neither this year. WE have decent lineman do not get me wrong. Jon Schlarman was a massive loss and we have not been the same since. I have no problem being a run heavy team, if the team is built for it. We have not been for a few years now, hence some of the below expectation seasons and it shows coaches inability to morph his offense. Saban even changed his tune when things stopped working. CMS has to adjust each year or will continue to fail. The amount of OC switches also has to be a little bit of smoke from the fire.

Its easy to look good when you have a talent advantage. Thats something he doesn't have here. Thats why we need a very specific fit here.

We need someone who can take the best players we can get and mold an offense that can still succeed with a talent deficiency. That approach that will require us to at times (maybe most times) to play slower. Yet fans get up in arms because they want entertained.

Fans need to come to grips with the fact that winning at UK is often going to be ugly, slow, and a grind. It works as evidenced by thats exactly how we won big games under stoops. No matter who we get, its going to be that way unless we get someone that can recruit on par with Georgia and others.

I lost all excitement w the return of the OL coach, Hambden and the safety coach

Can’t we get an 8th grade coach for safeties. Just coaching them to keep everything in front of them would be an upgrade

Get a former OL player at UK who played OC as the OL Coach and

That’s a huge start

But they must be from Youngstown. Evidently that is a requirement.

I agree 100%

Stoops is either hiring the wrong offensive coordinators or he has been a negative influence on their play calling. Either way it is on him and a change is needed.

We did it again last night too. Abandoned the run for some inexplicable reason.
