Bryce Hopkins hurt

Remember the words of Dr. King? Can't we just all get along.

That really sucks. I like that dude. I've watched a couple of Providence games and he's pretty good.

He definitely got a raw deal here. Should have been given minutes after his breakout game where he saved UK's ass. Instead he got Caliparied.

I don't agree with this. Maybe he felt he wasn't being treated fairly, but is that really a reason to run off? Maybe that's just how kids are these days - my generation figured out a way to fight through difficult situations, not run from them.
I agree. He probably should have played more than he did that year but he also was out of shape and that didn't help his case. Him and Juzang are examples of guys that played about what they should have their freshman year, would have had a much larger role as Sophomores but wanted it easy.

While I hate injuries for any player (except any player wearing DUKE, they could all have ACL tears as far as I'm concerned), I'm always curious as to why some UK fans keep tabs on players that bolted on Kentucky for another school. I never look up any player that transferred out of UK. To me, they are of no interest once they've bailed on our program.

That's kind of my take on it. I'm ambivalent, I don't wish any ill-will (unless it's Khalil Whitney, **** that guy).. but IMO they shouldn't get to keep Kentucky's support, at least not mine. To me, they are no different than any other recruit who choose to go elsewhere.

How do you know he was out of shape? He looks exactly the same 2 years after transferring. Looks to just not have a MKG motor is all.

He's still out of shape because he never wanted to work. You think he went to providence to be challenged? He's a good D1 college player that could have been great with a better work ethic. He was 10-53 from 3 this year after shooting it 36% last year, not great for a junior.

Hope Bryce is alright. TBH the ACL tear doesn't hurt...speaking from experience. The meniscus is what hurt for me. The immediate pain wasn't that severe. It was more like, "oh sh*t something isn't right.". But Bryce screaming could also be fear and frustration....totally understandable for a kid with a future in basketball.

I walked off the court limping, climbed a flight of steps at LAC...hopped in my stick shift and somehow drove home before my GF (now wife) drove me to hospital.
Hurt like hell for me years ago.

I guess everyone has different experiences. I just remember hearing a loud pop. Fell down, guy went to pull me up and I couldn't straighten my leg. I tore my ACL and Meniscus, partial MCL.

Don't get me wrong...it hurt like crazy the days after. I had to do pre-PT to get to the point my leg would straighten prior to surgery. This ice machine brace they had me wearing was brutal.

For whatever reason, I don't recall it hurting me all that much on impact though.

I always thought his "breakout" game was an anomaly of how he had played that season.
In the LSU game he hustled and got put backs.
He played a lot like Adou plays now.
Most other games he bricked threes and was a turnover machine.
Trying to be a SF when he's really a PF all the way just undersized.

That’s not fair at all.

He had every opportunity and couldn’t beat out Brooks or Toppin for playing time.
Good point.
Bryce couldn't beat them out and they couldn't beat each other out.
Bryce had the LSU game but Keion had the Kansas game.
With those three you never knew what you would get from game to game.

Sure. After his breakout game against LSU, he played 6 total minutes in 6 games with 3 dnp. Tell me, why wouldn't Cal give him more run after LSU?

No clear cut answer but to play Bryce you had to put both Toppin and Brooks on the bench.
They didn't compliment each other at all.
You had to play him with Oscar and three guards.
It was doable but I guess sometimes the matchups were wrong for Bryce

I had the same injury minus the meniscus. Still have a staple in my leg where they reattached the ACL.

I actually have a cadaver ligament. Had my surgery at UK in late '07 IIRC. Never played hoops again. Considering joining a 40+ league...might be a rough go, lol.
