Briscoe update

The bottomline is Briscoe will have a career in basketball if he wants to play overseas and make very good money doing it. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Internet is serious business.

He had a triple double, which was amazing.

Betting he's a guy like Orton and Lamb that we never see back for a UK game/function.
I just think it is disappointing when fans rave about a player upon entering Kentucky. Then when the player does not produce like we want and leaves, many turn their back on him. That is until he makes it in the NBA and then we celebrate again and reclaim him.

Hello Troll. Actually many of us supported Brisco all the way through and in my opinion he deserved that support. How ever he and his father blamed everyone but himself for lack of NBA attention and that soured some support.

Some of these guys slack up and know they won't be eligible, academically, so they have no choice but to go. Not saying that was Briscoe's situation but wouldn't be surprised.

Cal wouldn't let that happen I wouldn't think....but it is a well known fact the dude didn't like school

I've always heard he absolutely hated school and having to follow the rules of being a collegiate athlete. I think we've had a few of those in the Cal era. Guys like him are leaving no matter what. Making 50K a yr in the G league or playing for pay in Turkey beats the hell out of going to class at 8AM in their minds. I don't think Cal really helps the situation either. That's old news and it is what it is. It would be nice to see more kids like Diallo make smart decisions.

There were a few down on him, and rightly so some games but a lot of us appreciated the different things that he brought to the table. There were several games where we would have lost without him. Being a sophomore, he was still inconsistent but he did some things well, but I don't think many turned their backs on him.

Briscoe left because he kept beIN recruited over. Ulis was supposed to be backup and 4yr player. Briscoe was a top pg coming out of hs...he sacrificed his game for the program. Noone could of predicted Ulis blowing up. Murray was a July commit. I wish Briscoe the best, he showed what is true sacrifice.
Wait, Cal promises minutes and starting jobs now? You earn it, you get it. He did not earn more minutes than Ulis or Fox, in fact, he got more minutes than he deserved imo.

I hardly doubt that you found anyone to say that he was better then Ulis or Fox.

My issue was that he didn't take coaching well. I specifically remember Cal telling him to shoot his layups high up off the backboard so the ball can still be in play instead of getting his shot blocked and the other team getting the ball.
Cut to Briscoe being interviewed and the subject comes up about it and he says, to paraphrase, I'm going to play the way I've always played.
Not a good example to the rest of the Team when you're supposed to be a leader.
I always felt he played hard and was fearless. Made a lot of tough hard nosed plays for UK to be fair.

You have no clue what happened behind the scenes.

Briscoe doesn't play for UK any longer. I'm willing to accept that and move on with my life.

One you think you're ready for the NBA, you aren't considered a kid...
There's the difference. Not being "Considered" a kid is far different than being a mature adult. I look at the decisions that these kids make and see them as immature adolescents that still need time to grow and mature. That has nothing to do with age or when they choose to leave school for the NBA. And truthfully it has nothing to do with whether a kid is nice and good or not. It has to do with how they handle life decisions.

Isaiah made a poor life decision, not because he left for the NBA, but because he burned the BBN bridge. See, he didn't have the forethought to look ahead beyond the NBA and see that we would have been a great ally of his for his journey after sports. He sought instant gratification and decided to bite the hand that would feed him on his way out. He made an extremely poor and immature decision. That's why I look at him as a child. In ten years, he likely will look back on this decision with regret and would probably not do the same thing again if he had the chance.

But like I said earlier, I wish him the best and hope that he succeeds in whatever endeavor he follows.
