Briscoe update

I sincerely hope he lands a Pro opportunity. But, I think Isaiah is a sign of the times where if a talented high school recruit doesn't get to the pro's in a year or two they consider themselves a failure. If anyone should have stayed in college and continued to progress and work on more facets of their game would be Isaiah Briscoe. His growth from Freshman to Soph. was impressive but there still remained weaknesses to his offense. He could have continued to develop and became the premier college player and not be an unsigned hopeful. Would it have killed him to stay another year or two?

Some of these guys slack up and know they won't be eligible, academically, so they have no choice but to go. Not saying that was Briscoe's situation but wouldn't be surprised.

If he had pro talent he would be on a team, not going after his freshman year had little to do with his pro options. Alex made a team and he stayed and graduated. From what I heard he was not a good influence on other players as it was and most were glad he was gone.

Sure he wasn't a model player here but I wish him all the best and I hope his dreams come true. It will take him a while but I think he can eventually make an NBA team

Briscoe could walk into virtually any gym in the country and break someone off. Love em, hate em whatevs. thats the truth.

Oh good gosh, what a silly post.

I'm assuming you're talking about him going into a gym with everyday joes and dominating...

WELL NO S**T

Difference dominating some rec players and competing against NBA talent basketball players

Good grief.

Good grief? who are you Charlie Brown? You guys bang on Briscoe left and right. I guess it makes your miserable life that much better.
No we just don't act like Briscoe is a real NBA player, hell he wouldn't even dominate the G-League. He could play with ppl overseas

Exactly. He doesn't remember his time here fondly or want to speak on it any further so why should he get the same love that other guys get who actually realize what a once in a lifetime opportunity they received here under coach cal?
Put me in the camp that supports players that want to be supported. Need an example? I love me some Julius Mays.... IB not so much

I don't like how his career ended here and I wish he invested more into the program, but this thread is disappointing. He is still a kid and kids make stupid decisions all the time. I assume most here are adults, the responses should be commiserate with maturity level, not kids antics.

I wish the best for the kid and hope that he does well and reaches all of his goals.

I agree with the others. Briscoe had issues at UK, seemed to want out the second he stepped foot, and even put his time here "in the past" damn near before he cleaned his dorm. As fans that love this program, we appreciate his efforts and wish him well. But he's not going to really be remembered at UK, and as of this moment, that's totally deserved. There was no need in Briscoe doing what he did. And after he left more and more came to light about his entire career at UK.

Some people just make excuses over and over for people. If Briscoe wants to be remembered differently he can change that at any time. There's not one fan who wouldn't welcome him back and forget the past.

Btw, Briscoe is not a kid. He's a man that makes big boy decisions, like ditching an education to pursue a grown man league. No need to treat him like a child, he says what he means.

Briscoe sacrificed in a big way for this program and made the best out of a radically different situation than he signed up for.

One throwaway comment taken with no context after he left doesn't change the fact that he busted his ass for us on every play and was a selfless teammate.

Headache to Cal sometimes? Sure. But so were Wall and Boogie and Jones and Lamb and probably some others that Matt Jones didn't get the pitchforks out for over one perfectly reasonable comment.

Only our fans can toss aside a kid like Briscoe and line up to get Rex Chapman's autograph.

So you really think IB could've ran the point here for 2 years if we didn't have Tyler Ulis and Fox? Put me in the camp of without Ulis we would've went to the NIT and without Fox we maybe win a game in the NCAA tournament. The guy simply doesn't have the BB IQ for a PG.

Fwiw I'm not a chapman fan

in 1995 Isaiah Briscoe is a 4 year player. Hell... 2005. Howbowdah?

Haven't seen a single poster take a personal shot at Briscoe. The people commenting on his professional outlook are merely objective internet message board posters (what a weird place to find them?!). On the other hand, the holier than thou, message board shamers, are by far the worst. If it can't be discussed here, then where?

Once again, good luck and good riddance to the kid. They can't all be favorites.

Briscoe left because he kept beIN recruited over. Ulis was supposed to be backup and 4yr player. Briscoe was a top pg coming out of hs...he sacrificed his game for the program. Noone could of predicted Ulis blowing up. Murray was a July commit. I wish Briscoe the best, he showed what is true sacrifice.

Cal told Ulis he was a 2-year player actually. And if you come in as a point guard and shoot 13% from three, you better flippin believe you're going to be recruited over.

How is a 21 year old man a kid?

Being recruited over? The NBA probably isn't the place for him then

Internet is serious business.

He had a triple double, which was amazing.

Betting he's a guy like Orton and Lamb that we never see back for a UK game/function.

Probably right. Sad, but, part of his problem is that he never bought into Cal, as others have. Yes, he has some talent issues, but, I can't help feeling that if he had listened to Cal, 100%, he may have beaten the odds.
