...according to Matt Jones on Twitter. don't know how to post the tweet...sorry.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. Maybe he just wants to announce with his family, but personally I don't feel good about getting him after what's been coming out this week. Thankfully, how I feel doesn't matter. :)

Michigan st bound. Tough loss but at worst we will have mulder and Mathews which is great. But wanted bridges badly. Could have played the 3 and 4. That said the 16 class will still be great.

Unless Ulis, Mulder, Matthews, or Lee blow up big this season, they'll all return.... add in Monk and Fox which we all think we're going to get plus Wynyard and Humphries have to return... we have

Pg- Fox / Ulis
Sg- Monk / Hawkins
Sf- Matthews / Mulder
Pf- SKJ / Wynyard
C - Lee / Humphries
11th man - Willis

We all want to have the #1 class but that line up right there is the best team in the country next year IMHO

I'm not going to concede Gabriel or Alkins right now. I think Calipari lands at least one of them. If I had to guess, I think UK brings in SKJ, Gabriel, Alkins, Monk, Fox, and one more. Lee, Mulder, and Matthews return. UK runs an 8 man rotation next year.

you don't think Humphries or Wynyard will play as sophomores?

Maybe. I think Humphries contributes later on. Cal seems to prefer the bouncy, lanky 4 and 5 men. I hope we land a few elite guards. We'll be fine if we do.

If we miss on bridges then I think we land Gabriel. 6'10 3 man that has mkg motor. Miss on one 5 star and on to the next one.

Would love that pick up if we were fortunate to get him.

I still contend getting Monk is the key to this class. He's the closest thing to transcendent of all our realistic targets.

I also think he is MSU bound, but doesn't every major recruit go home to announce their college decision? Then again, most players play in the proximity of where they live.

No inside sources but I'm that confident in my educated guess because

1. His top 3 teams are Maryland, Duke and UK

2. Adidas and their other shoe company Under Armor are pushing heavy for Maryland ...

3. Duke will have Jeter, Tatum, and either Giles or Bolden starting.

4. Right now at UK , we could possibly have Lee, Wynyard, Humphries, Matthews, Mulder, SKJ, and possibly even Poythress as a 5th year senior. Thats a lot of competition..

5. He'd start guaranteed at Maryland

If he waits until after players declare then I'll rethink my guarantee.

Ok, so not a real guarantee. Fine.

And why would adidas push to Maryland? Adidas and Under Armour are competitors. Maybe I just don't understand your meaning.

His top 3 are .. Nike , Nike and Under Armour. Neither Adidas nor Nike see's under armour as a serious competitor yet so which school do you think they would rather have their player go to?

I don't think Adidas will have any say in pushing him anywhere. Adidas will not play a factor in his decision. If he chooses UM, it won't be because Adidas steered him there, imo.

Yeah, exactly. I think we are getting pretty deep to assume that Adidas would have any impact in steering some top 20 kid toward a UA school.

If anything, I would think Adidas would prefer to keep UA down instead of helping them gain ground. But in reality, it's a negligible point.

It would be considered a little too obvious if he planned to make his announcement from Rupp Arena.

Players usually announce from their hometown or home high school, unless they do it at a exhibition game, no?

I didn't consider it done until Cal turned up the heat on Gabriel over the course of this past week. That put the writing on the wall.

Loved Bridges game, but I think Gabriel could be just as good for us at the 3 spot, comparable to Trey.

Yes, Monk is the key....need scorers. Alkins second.

As quickly as Gabriel is improving and with his frame he going to be nasty for someone, especially on defense. Glad Cal is still efforting even though he is a lock for MD.

We need Fox to come onboard to get some mojo.

He was lost imo when he diceded not to come to BBM..There was no good reason to do that unless he was going to MSU and just wanted to visitUK...He's a Flint kid and most all go to MSU.

MSU apparently brought in all their former players from the Flint area to impress Bridges during a visit. He was UK lean before that happened. Smart move and sly recruiting.
Cal obviously wanted him and not getting him is a loss. Not as much so because is wasn't our only option. But, he was a highly coveted 3 or 4 position player that Cal wanted as part of the bigger picture.

Bridges' is a perfect example of why it's hard to not take kids like Simmons if they're ready to commit.

Fox could end up at lsu for all we know and Simmons commits to unlv.

Maybe someone has mentioned this.... maybe not. He did move his visit up 1 week before Gabriel's visit. If UK was still an option in his mind and they both had unconditional offers... that could be a reason.

It's all just speculation at this point.... I'm not worried. Good luck to him where ever he goes... 2016 class is LOADED and there are plenty of other players out there.

I also think it is MSU. Would of loved to have this kid but it is very hard for some to leave home. Cal will get another great player.

Exactly. Outside of UNC, Duke, UK, KU...not many other teams, even top ones like MSU, pull in kids like Bridges that often if he does indeed end up at MSU. Kentucky will be a top contender, with or without Bridges.

Izzo really wants to get a second title, obviously, because two really separates you from the pack and and third one for MSU also separates us from other schools. Bridges is the final piece to being an instant national title favorite in 2016 along with a few other teams.

I don't think Izzo will coach longer than the next 5-7 years...and it seems like 2016 and 2017 classes (we will land top 10 player Brian Bowen in 2017..Jason Richardsons nephew) will be his last big push to get that second title.

It might be hard, but Cal makes it look easy. That's why he's the best.

He sticks to his guns and 9 times out of 10 it all works out.

True. If we miss on Bridges it will suck, but if we get Alkins or Gabriel, I will still consider it to have worked out wonderfully.

It will hurt not to get Bridges, but I was upset when we missed out on Brown, until Murray committed.

And if you go back the year before, I was crushed when Mudiay decided for SMU, but that worked out beautifully since we got Ulis for not one but at least two years.

So I am okay with missing on him. Someone else, who will probably end up being better in the long run, will take his ride.

If not we are still in good shape at the 3 with two experienced guys that can jump in there (Matthews and Mulder).

Honestly, I could see Simmons ending up being our 3 man. That gives us three excellent ball handlers (similar to this season, but with more size) at the 1-3 spots.

Starters
G Fox
G Monk
G Simmons
F Lee (I think he may come back, but if not, Killeya-Jones moves up into this spot)
F Humphries (I think we are underestimating this guy after a year in Cal's system)

Key Reserves
G Mulder
G Matthews
F Killeya-Jones

Bench
F Wynyard
G Hawkins
F Willis
G Floreal

That's a a good 8 man rotation, plus some solid practice guys.

That team would be top 5 in the nation and compete for a title.
