BrianPoe was right

Cal has admitted that he doesn't give a damn about losing games.

Why our fans can't believe this is beyond me. He's repeatedly not only admitted it but has been adamant about it. He wouldn't care if we were in the nit every year if he got 5 players dradted, other than the fact that it would get him fired so he wouldn't be able to put more kids in the nba.
100% right. But one other thing, it is fun to watch. It is just another way to run a program. It isn't Michigan state nor UNC nor Kansas and it didn't use to be Duke. But it is another way to be exciting every year. And some years be great. It is Val's way

Matt Jones summed it up pretty well tonight. He said we have players good on offense but terrible on defense, and we have players great on defense but can't score a lick. Not a good mix...

Does this mean Matt validated my posts all season? ;)

Cal's (not sure how I got Val from spell check)

Well a Hoosier fan should know about a coach that doesn't care about winning.

Can't wait for the popcorn boxes and net cutting after losses this year...

The only positive from losses like this is it flushes out the whiners and complainers, the malcontents, the trolls and haters, the ones who'd stare beauty in the face only to grumble about some slight imperfection. The ones who bitch and moan and remain indignant that not everyone share in their misery.

In short, the only good thing about losses like this is it makes the Ignore function easy and useful.....

I already showed you in the other thread...

Up to this point in the season...

14 had better stats in every category

16 has much worse losses

16 has been out rebounded twice as often

Etc etc. I'm afraid you are very wrong on this point.

That said, this comment:

"We'll make the tournament. We'll win a couple games. We might make it farther. We might not. Either way, it's no reason to freak out."

I absolutely agree with.[/QUOTE]
Barely, and part of that is because Ulis started out the season badly. I stand by that the stretch between the Auburn game and tonight we looked better than that team did at any point during the regular season. Whatever, I know better than to argue with somebody on the Internet.

honestly, if you want to bash the team, go for it. if you want to say we are trash, go for it. but what I don't want to see is people get on here and tell us this team won't wind up like the 2011 or 2014 team. because these same people were trashing those teams when we were losing left and right. just ridiculous.

Not arguing Hosk, but tell me the following....

Up to today's date which team had worse losses (by far after tonight)

Which team had multiple guys that could get a basket when needed?

Which team has been out rebounded twice as much?

Which team is charmin soft in the middle?

Which team had a killer rebounder and scorer in the paint consistently, not just once versus a bad SEC team?

Which team has a starting guard who can't shoot?

Where is this team better? Even at this point in the season?

I'm willing to bet if I did a history check you are part of the hate Harrison and Young gang...

The 2011 and 2014 teams would beat this years team by 20+ if they played each other. Those teams had actual post games. Terrance Jones and Jorts in 2011 would abuse our bigs now and so would Julius Randle in 2014.

Mikey

We still have Cal and Tyler, Murray is capable of going off.

Everybody else's team sucks too.

No way we write this team off until it is over.

I just don't see the comparisons of 11 and 14...

Players first program, remember, he is changing generational poverty, woulda, coulda, shouda stayed is not part of this program.

It is what it is, a monster that must be fed. You cant hold anybody back with this business model

Cal is missing the boat. The teams he could have every year if he found a way to keep the non first rounders around is mind boggling.
Every year we see players leave that aren't first rounders and we are left holding the bag.

Calipari could put an end to that if he really wanted to. It's not about UK for some of these kids.

Good luck telling egomanics they're not ready for the NBA nor will they be first round picks. They think they're amazing and should be like the elite one and dones.

The Harrison's and Dakari knew they weren't first round picks and still went. All three should still be here.

I look at Cal's awesome 2008 Memphis team and he had exactly one star and the rest were role players and good players (CDR).

I'd love that model so we're not totally screwed every few years.

Brian-ey, I love you and everything. One of my favorite posters. But we don't know that. What were we saying at this very moment during those season's? Exactly.

And I'm not saying this as a homer. But I'm just saying.

Nope, K is not doing so hot but his team won the title last year. We had the best team in decades and lost to a team that Duke beat twice. So we don't finish the job…. Again.
Now we have to suffer through another bad regular season…. Again.
What's worse is I don't see this squad doing enough in time to be a threat to get beyond the sweet 16.
Cal is very hard headed for not having this team play a zone. This and many of the loses UK has suffered is on him not the team. Rump played man to man but when his team needed it they played the 1-3-1. This is on Cal.

With the exception of Tyler, this team is garbage. Skal and Murray are the two most overrated recruits in cals tenure here. i dont care about Murrays stats, so dont start blovating them. He is a HORRIBLE defensive player, and isnt getting any better

Oh how I wish we had access to your life so we can critique everything you do and call you out for every mistake you make. Calling these kids garbage is pathetic. You should get a life and please find another team.

Great point, I do agree the "emotions" regarding the teams are the same.

But the teams are drastically different in my opinion, with this year's squad lacking the most potential for previously stated reasons, yet the field is more wide open this year.

I'm just gonna give Cal the benefit, and not lose my mind right now. With his track record here, I think he deserves a wait and see approach. Everyone is pissed off that we didn't win it all last year, I understand. But we went 38-1, and it was an awesome season. Would the Warriors win the playoff's in a 1 loss format? Probably. But one off night and they're done. The Bucks beat them for crying out loud. Wisconsin had the best offensive efficiency rating since the stat came out. They were a great team, and Duke had their number. When Cal leaves, some of you will grow to realize rather than bask in this run, you whined through it. I can tell you one thing, the next coach ain't going to 4 Final-4's in 6 years. Comical.

If that's the case I would hate to see how he acts if he didn't like to lose.
