I will no longer try to defend this team and try to convince anyone that this team is as good as or better than 2011 and/or 2014.
I can't believe what I just saw. This team just lost to a 10-11 team and I don't think Cal is a good enough coach to fix this team in time.
He just got out coached by a guy that I consider to be the worst active coach in cbb. Johnny Jones is better than RB and Cal just got outcoached by him. This makes the Auburn loss look good.

With the exception of Tyler, this team is garbage. Skal and Murray are the two most overrated recruits in cals tenure here. i dont care about Murrays stats, so dont start blovating them. He is a HORRIBLE defensive player, and isnt getting any better
Yeah Murray continues to lose his man on defense . Seldon hit that three in regulation because Murray lost him. UT confused him all night long.
Sorry guys I'm just disgusted, this was a crushing loss and I'm at the point where I am angered at the one and done bullcrap.
We thought this was a great class, they are a weak class in reality.
We do it every year, we think the next class is the best ever than we go through this crap.
Without Ulis, Briscoe and a couple of other veterans we will see this again next year.
Can't wait.

This team isn't good enough to overcome absurd performances like Auburn, OSU and Tenn have turned in. They are just ridiculous, anomalous games.I don't include LSU in that because we played like shit.

As for Cal, you can't have it both ways. He has beaten supposedly "great" coaches many many times, but I suppose that doesn't count.

K isn't doing too hot either, but no one is questioning him.

Nope, K is not doing so hot but his team won the title last year. We had the best team in decades and lost to a team that Duke beat twice. So we don't finish the job…. Again.
Now we have to suffer through another bad regular season…. Again.
What's worse is I don't see this squad doing enough in time to be a threat to get beyond the sweet 16.

I don't think one and done is the only problem with this team. Outside of Ulis we get almost nothing from Lee, Poy is horribly inconsistent, Willis wasn't horrible tonight but he wasn't great either. This team lacs leadership outside of Ulis IMO.

I don't think UK recovered mentally or physically from the loss on Saturday but that excuse doesn't fly. They stopped playing after getting up by 21. Apparently they didn't learn their lesson from the Auburn game when they did the same thing.

Cal has time to adjust and be a dynasty. But he MUST adjust.

Start recruiting a college oriented player, preferrably a shooting guard/Forward, for every 2 OAD types. It's that simple.

Cals stubbornness will cost him if he doesn't figure this out fast. The dream of being a OAD only coach is jjust a stupid dream. Let it go.

Cal is missing the boat. The teams he could have every year if he found a way to keep the non first rounders around is mind boggling.
Every year we see players leave that aren't first rounders and we are left holding the bag.

Calipari could put an end to that if he really wanted to. It's not about UK for some of these kids.

It's not about UK for %90 of them. It's NBA and dreams. To be honest, they could care less about a National championship, they want the money.. Jamal will for right in on a pro team because he can't play "D".. He could've literally won back to back if AD and others would have stayed another year.. Sad thing is, those kids don't come here if they can't bail out after one year..

Guys like AD, Wall and Cousins should go after one year, I get that but 70% of the guys that left should have come back.
It is not only ruining cbb it's making a mockery of UK. Have the best team every year, fall short of a title than see Cal and half our team on draft day having a good ole time while we look forward to another year of struggles because we have a whole bunch of new freshmen.
Than we get to hear Cal say "well we're young" in every interview after every game. Terrific.

Absolutely right. Wins nearly 85% of his games. 22-4 in the tournament. Top recruiting class every year. ESPN resembles a UK infomercial. I see what you mean. He clearly needs to step back and rethink every aspect of how he runs this program, because it's pretty obvious he's missing the boat.
You obviously missed the point.
Move along.

Imagine how frustrating next year could be if Ulis leaves?

It's tough.

We have one complete ball player and he might be 5'9...

Murray O no D

Alex D little O

Willis O lacking D

Briscoe D no O

Dom. D no O

Lee. ..... no

Skal ... Jump shot then no

I've been yelled at since the first game with my

"is this Cal's softest team?" thread.

And as Jeff pointed out I have been saying all year long that 2011 and 2014
had ingredients this team doesn't:

Toughness, offense and consistency inside: jones, randle

Not soft on the block with defense: Jorts , WCS, Dakari

Better rebounders

Consistent FT shooters

Decent outside shooters

2011 more experience
2014 killer in the paint and size

This year we have too many holes as to bball skill sets and feel for the game.

2011 and 14 had guys with, at the least, glimpses of exceptional talent, that made you say..."bring that every game"

We are hoping some of these guys do things they have yet to show all season...

Cal has admitted that he doesn't give a damn about losing games.

Why our fans can't believe this is beyond me. He's repeatedly not only admitted it but has been adamant about it. He wouldn't care if we were in the nit every year if he got 5 players dradted, other than the fact that it would get him fired so he wouldn't be able to put more kids in the nba.

Yep, that's why he is grey and looks like a lunatic on the sidelines every game.

You have some very intelligent posts then come with something like coach doesn't care if we go to the NIT every year....

You're awful

Cal could play 5 chipmunks and we lose 20,000-0 and you would still say this bullshit you posted

if you really think he doesn't care about winning games then i don't think you've looked at him following a loss. i've never seen him so frustrated than after the ku game saturday. he really wanted that game. he didn't average 26+ wins a year in his career by not giving a damn about winning.

I get it, we're in a conference where football is king. We get lambasted every week on the football field by all these other SEC schools.

But where we thrive is on the basketball court, we are the only school in the SEC that makes basketball a priority.
So losing to bad basketball teams in our sport after they already kicked our asses in football is inexcusable. We are the better team, our coach is paid the most, we have the best facilities and we have MUCH better talent but we still lose to these bad teams when all they are doing is waiting for football season to start again.
SMDH. This loss set me off. Aaaaand I might as well forget about sleeping in my own bed tonight, I believe the wife locked the door to that particular room.

I don't care if he cares about winning or not. But he's on his way to his 4th 10 loss season in 7 uears here. That's simply unacceptable. Going to the final four and then choking to inferior teams when you get there does not change that fact.

I guess if we want another title we need to have him recruit another once in 2 decade type player AND a once in 1 decade type player AND bring back 3 of the best returning players we have had in the last 20 years.

Somehow I don't see him pulling that feat off again any time soon.

Great timing on your proclamation about this team being better than 11 and 14....
I didn't say they were better than 2011. That team actually beat some quality opponents early in the year. They still have a ways to go to have as bad a regular season as the 2014 team did. As I said earlier, I'm not concerned yet. I agree that this team will need some luck to have the same success in the postseason that team did, but that team had no business making it as far as they did either.

We'll make the tournament. We'll win a couple games. We might make it farther. We might not. Either way, it's no reason to freak out.

I already showed you in the other thread...

Up to this point in the season...

14 had better stats in every category

16 has much worse losses

16 has been out rebounded twice as often

Etc etc. I'm afraid you are very wrong on this point.

That said, this comment:

"We'll make the tournament. We'll win a couple games. We might make it farther. We might not. Either way, it's no reason to freak out."

I absolutely agree with.

brianpoe knows nothing more than the average fan does. he can claim he knows this and that he knows no more than anybody else.

I never claimed anything you little twit.

I'm just a fan like you except I don't interject little sissy comments like this about people i have never engaged in conversation.

Matt Jones summed it up pretty well tonight. He said we have players good on offense but terrible on defense, and we have players great on defense but can't score a lick. Not a good mix...
