I know what you're talking about. Again, Can Brea get to the rim. If you can't you're probably not going to be able to off a shot halfway between the rim and the arc. His ball control isn't good enough, and he shows away from contact. Usually someone with a good floater has the ability to get to the rim, but pulls up short of shooting a layup because the defender is back in his heels. It's all good.
The difference is that Edwards can create shots for himself.

That's because Almanor isn't near the 3 point shooter that Brea is. He is open because teams allow him to be open which is smart. Most teams will put 5 players on our other 4 and play the percentages of Almanor doesn’t hit many. I know he has started making some here of late but consistency just isn't there.
Yes. On a team that supposedly relies on the 3 point shot, we need our best or second best 3 point shooter getting more minutes. Our defense is terrible anyway so spare me the "he can't play defense" line. Well, no one else can either so let's at least try to optimize our offense.
Brea just is t very athletic, so his lack of speed and quickness makes it’s so it’s incredibly hard for him to get open. It’s the classic case of a very skilled guy with limited athleticism. It’s really that simple.

Owen is probably the best player on this team. Driving to the basket is the strongest part of his game. Be hard to say he can create his own shot from the 3 point line.
Defenders cannot crowd Edwards without him blasting past them for a layup.
He’s spot up shooter only and needs someone else to create an open shot for him, he & Robinson are very weak and need someone else like OO to drive to the basket and create a shot for them. Those 2 along with butler are terrible in the paint & finishing at the rim. Neither are going to attack the rim so idk why Noah can’t get some of atleast breas time, it’s not like he’s a lock down defender and no chance Noah can do any worse. He's going to hustle and rebound and play smart high iq basketball plus he here for 4 yrs so get him some time and watch him blossom.
Neither do I. Develop two moves and then two counters. If there are two counters for each of the first two moves, that seems to make four moves to score.

Although a bit harsh, you're pretty much correct. He's not a great rebounder, definitely not a great defender, doesn't dish out many assists, so if he's not hitting 3s, at best he's forcing the defense to at least adjust towards him, which might open up some driving lanes for others
I love Pope's system, I'm a big fan of Zoom concepts and I think Pope does a great job teaching his guys the read/react actions that go along with Zoom, which is why his teams usually score really well. However...
I'd love to see more Kobe-sets - have him set a cross-screen to get someone a layup, then come off a down-screen or stagger screen. Zoom is great, but it's a bit predictable and if you're able to switch screens, it can give the Cats problems. I'd love to see a series of sets for Pope to run when Kobe is in. He's great after timeouts, but some sets during the flow of the game as well
Terrible comparison. Alford's senior year he had 508 FGA and 202 3PA. He also went to the line 180 times. He was hardly a one trick pony like Brea. Hell, Brea can't even draw a foul.....33 FTA in 3 years. Good grief.
Brea needs to flat out run his man to death out there. If they glue someone to you, run them to death. Run them through screens, run them through the lane. Use back door cuts and get to the rim. He doesn’t seem to do much but run around the perimeter. He’s predictable. Pope needs to get him more involved. He needs to move!
At this point in his career and season, he is what he is. He could improve some I suppose, but not enough to really help a ton, unless he really wants to do it.
Nice reading comprehension. Nowhere did I write Brea was Alford. I wrote that IU ran so much action for Alford who was “unathletic” and UK needs to run Brea and action to get him open. IU got Alford open. Pope has acknowledged he needs to get Brea more shots.
It cracks me up how everyone says so in so cant defend especially boys from Ky - let’s be honest all of them get beat on occasion - we need Oweh - Butler - Robinson to drive more and look to kick out to Brea or each other. Butler is driving but playing off 2 feet and trying to initiate a foul is not working
With the way players are allowed to carry the ball etc., it is damn near impossible to stay in front of any decent guard.
