Yeah, not good when you have to think about the ball as you’re shooting.

OTOH if everybody has to "change the way you shoot a little bit," I would think that would be more of an advantage to us than a disadvantage. If anyone is going to be able to adapt quickly it's going to be the best, most experience snipers in cbb.

Okay, this is probably a stupid question but why are we not using the Wilson ball if the NCAA tournament is going to use the Wilson ball?
May be why Williams suddenly lost his touch around the rim last night. 
That certainly makes sense.
Kind of crazy that it hasn’t already been standardized. There’s no other sport that I know of that literally uses a different ball from game to game.

I grew up in a rural working class family. My dad wasn’t spending good money on a leather basketball when they made those cheap rubber balls, so I learned to shoot with a cheap rubber ball. When I started playing in school, I couldn’t shoot a leather ball very well. I didn’t know why I shot better at home than at school. Thought it was nerves or something. Wasn’t smart enough to figure out it was the ball until years later.

NCAA and SEC need to unphuck this, right now. This is inexcusable and stupid. How many half brains does it take to get this standardized?? FFS.
There needs to be standard on how many PSI as well. I remember going into gyms in high school and the ball would bounce to the rafters. That was teams that couldn't shoot. The teams that could shoot had a flatter ball.

Yeah, as soon as I started playing organized ball in school, the days of the cheap rubber ball (which was kind of-w/ a February birthday- a go to b-day present for me) were over. I didn't get the school-grade KHSAA approved version, but I upgraded to the indoor-outdoor synthetic leather version. Forget my favorite brand, but I believe it was a Rawlings? Did they make basketballs? Once I became somewhat good, I could shoot w/ any ball type at a better than average clip. Any adjustments I might've made from ball to ball were subconsciously; I never gave it any thought. Ballhandling moreso than shooting was affected, for me, more from ball to ball.

The NCAA has agreed. It's the Wilson. The schools have decided they'd rather sacrifice because got to grab every dollar in capitalist America.
Haven’t they been using Wilson basketballs in n the tournament for years? Every team should have those balls around to practice shooting some with. I know most schools use the sponsor balls like Nike and Adidas. I always preferred Wilson Jet basketball’s!
I believe UK does use the Wilson ball in practice leading up to the tournament (and maybe some during the season too). I know that they used a Spaulding ball leading up to the game with Duke because that was the ball used in that game. I do not think this was done prior to Pope’s arrival. I agee it would be smart to use it, but at least Popr is aware and makes adjustments in practice.
Better make sure Tom Brady isn’t in charge of inflating the Wilsons
SEC is blameless. Got nothing to do with conference. Kentucky chooses the ball used when they play at home. Other team when on the road

The basketball used and the way fouls are called should be standardized. It’s not brain science.
My brother in BBN, it's 2025 and they are just NOW thinking about putting RFID chips in footballs to help with measurements. The tech has been available for quite some time.
The point being, people in sports, finance, healthcare, and education are so resistant to change they will fight standardization tooth and nail.
