Moreno will have to work then just like BG the better players play it’s that simpleMixed emotions glad to get Garrison but a little meh as I know this likely buries Moreno on bench
Assuming JQ isn’t ready to start the season, Moreno will get plenty of time to prove himself in the non conference.Mixed emotions glad to get Garrison but a little meh as I know this likely buries Moreno on bench
And we have players that can also show the new ones the offense just like Jax did. Should help them pick up on it quicker.Very glad BG is coming back.
Buckle up folks, we got a big, bad ass team next season.
We’ve been in that era since 2010. Almost everyone has left every year.Good but I hate that we’re in the era of having announcements that a player isn’t transferring out
I think players who are not going to enter the portal should have to announce if they are staying before the final 2 weeks of the portal so that coaches better know what holes they need to fill.Good but I hate that we’re in the era of having announcements that a player isn’t transferring out
Well said, there are no shortcuts. Work at your craft, get better, be a good teammate, help your team succeed and get drafted! If a long NBA career is his goal, this is the play. The practices alone could get him ready for the next step.
Nah, BG was heavily rumored to be leaving. He had stripped all mention of UK off his social media. Nobody else has even hinted at leaving.Good but I hate that we’re in the era of having announcements that a player isn’t transferring out
Why?Mixed emotions glad to get Garrison but a little meh as I know this likely buries Moreno on bench
If he is good enough, he will pull someone off rotationMoreno needs to bulk up and get ready for his Sophomore season. The SEC paint requires a player to prepare physically and mentally. I like his game and potential though.
Weren't there even reports that he has dropped out of all classes?Nah, BG was heavily rumored to be leaving. He had stripped all mention of UK off his social media. Nobody else has even hinted at leaving.
I didn't hear that.Weren't there even reports that he has dropped out of all classes?
No. There were rumors not reports.Weren't there even reports that he has dropped out of all classes?
With BG officially back, and Jelavic in the fold, we have 5 guys at 2 positions.
Using the template of this past season, where Pope used four guys (when healthy) at 2 spots:
Carr- 24 mpg
Williams- 23mpg
Garrison- 17mpg
Almonor- 14mpg
That’s 78 of the 80 minutes, so basically all the minutes at the 4 and 5.
Assuming Juniors Garrison and Dioubate and superstar Sophomore Quaintance (when healthy) are three of the four in the rotation, who do we think will be the fourth?
Is it our McD’s AA Freshman 7 foot Center or our Euro Freshman 7 foot stretch 4?
Or do they split the 14-16 minutes that’s left?
Just curious to see what everyone thinks?
Thoughts?
I’m not even sure how to process a player like BG returning. Something we haven’t seen in years. Refreshing and exciting!
Absolutely. He will be light years ahead of where he is now.I think by next March some of the Garrison doubters will realize just how big him returning was.
I think if Quaintance gets healthy enough to play, he plays way more than 16 minutes a game.Hard to guess because I don't know what to expect from the international guy, and Quaintance may not be healthy for a bit. I love that we have options though! If we have to stash a McDonald's AA 7'0" center on the bench that is going to be good for us. I wonder if Dioubate may play some SF too. If so, that could give the other posts some more minutes.

Yes, much qucker. We have some good players returning...coaches on the floor and in practice. The learning curve just got a lot easier for all newcomers, due to having several, really good players that know the system. Pope said it a few times this year, that he was limited and had to keep things simple this year. Look out next year! And we have players that can also show the new ones the offense just like Jax did. Should help them pick up on it quicker.
Not if he's better.Mixed emotions glad to get Garrison but a little meh as I know this likely buries Moreno on bench
I think if Quaintance gets healthy enough to play, he plays way more than 16 minutes a game.
Also, I would go along with the idea of Dioubate playing the 3 if we weren’t already stacked there as well.
I think once Quaintance is back 100%, it looks something like this:
Quaintance- 22
Garrison- 22
Dioubate- 22
Jelavic- 14
PF Garrison(4)/Dioubate(22)/Jelavic(14)
C Quaintance(22)/Garrison(18)
I’m starting Garrison as a reward for his loyalty and for the intimation factor. BG and JQ out there together would give us a bigger and more athletic starting frontcourt than most teams.

That will not fly. Moreno is too good of a player too get 0 minutes.Hard to guess because I don't know what to expect from the international guy, and Quaintance may not be healthy for a bit.
