Bradshaw

No, the players can't be patient anymore because of the culture. Cal created that culture of "if you're not leaving year 1, you're sitting year 2" so the kids bump on our of year at any chance. At other schools it's not nearly the problem.

Also, Bradshaw doesn't have a motor. Jumping around on the sidelines or getting animated at a call you disagree with is not a motor. Nor does he embrace the physicality of the sport.

When's the last time he attempted to set a screen? When's the last time he really bodied up against someone under the basket? When's the last time he tried to tear down the rim on a putback? He can try those things, he just doesn't want to.

Don't even think about blaming this on the "fans not being patient".
Like Terrance Jones, Nick Richards, and Oscar. Who came back and sat their second year that was good enough to play?

DJ Wagner should play no more than 10 minutes.
Then you can't play the 3 guard line up a lot. Because the 3 R's can do about 95 (+/-5 minutes) max. And at those 3 positions that is 120 minutes. You have to give guys at least 2-3 minutes each half to rest to be able to play their best meaning 34-35min is a max, AND Rob plays with such an energy level that he probably maxes out at about 30 minutes EXCEPT Rob gets into foul trouble a LOT (10 of 26 games 4-5 fouls) limiting his max minutes to an average of 25-30.
Not to mention that the pre-latest-injury Wagner was not bad at all, was actually pretty solid. And he's our best defender at guard. But yeah, if he continues to plays like he has since returning from injury, then we need to minimize his minutes (like w/ Bradshaw).

What drives me nuts on Bradshaw is where he doesn't fight for position. That play where he got easily sealed off and Sears just goes in for a wide open easy layup is the type of play that is so frustrating with him.

When a lot of us were growing up and watching hoops, Bradshaw would have been called a project. He's not as rail thin as some of our bigs, but he's no Charles Atlas. He has been trying recently to block out but it's just not happening yet for him. I don't know what training is like in the G League. If it's not fantastic, he could profit by returning for the weight room, the NIL, and the shorter college schedule.

I’d say he’s pretty rail thin. When I saw him warming up before a game, I was surprised at how thin he was in person.

I think he’d be a different player if he had last offseason to build muscle. I don’t know if he’ll have the patience to stick it out another year in college, but it would pay off in the long run for him.

I think the two guys earlier mentioned Nick Richards. I can see similarities in their development. Nothing against the kid, because he seems like a great kid with a great attitude, but I really dont think he is as good a player as Damion Collins. I think both were rated way higher than their abilities, just because they were tall. But, if I had a choice to pick one, I would pick Collins.

It's a shame he hasn't gotten any real coaching, development or directions from the staff. He could be playing much better.
