I've watched entirely too much basketball in my life, and one thing that has stuck out to me is that teams who have a lead and are in the one and one bonus at the end of the game, are sometimes at a disadvantage. Teams who are losing coming down the stretch, can essentially stretch time by fouling.. doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. The reason for the 'bonus' is to reward the team being fouled and to punish the teams who commit too many fouls, therefore, I believe the team that is in the 'bonus' should be able to choose whether they want to shoot free throws when they are fouled past the limit, or if they want to just take the ball out of bounds with a fresh shot clock.

Thoughts?

Excellent idea.

I don't think it'll ever happen because fouling at the end of the game is the only thing that makes most games interesting and keeps the possibility of a comeback. From an interest standpoint, I think the NCAA wouldn't want to do this, but I do think it makes the most sense in terms of the best team winning

The three point shot has made the bonus even less of one.

When a team is shooting 1 and 1, there's a roughly 50/50 chance that they will score 0 or 1 point.

Then the other team has a chance to go down and put 3 points on the board in a snap.

Exactly.. it's great for keeping interest and creating drama at the end of games, but if you're losing with 30 seconds left, you shouldn't be able to keep fouling and jacking up threes to come back.

I don't know if it's right or wrong, but it is different.
