Bo, Herschel or Earl

I saw all 3 but I can't say who was "best".

If we are choosing up teams I'll gladly take whoever is left.

Peace

Earl, may have had the most power, but don't think he had the speed of the other two. Herschel was the fastest and most durable, he ran a Lazer timed 4.38 40 at 42 years old. Bo had more moves than either, but was fragile for a big back. Now I n think Herschel was great, but you didn't put the best up there. 99% of the people couldn't touch touch Sanders in a 10 ft square in 30 seconds or less

As Grumpy said, Herschel was more durable. UK ran the wide tackle 6 defense under Jerry Claiborne. UK did as well as anyone else trying to handle him. Which wasn’t very well.

Bo, Herschell and Earl in that order, Bo could do it all, cut, change direction or run over you. Herschell was more of a straight-ahead runner and would run over you and was so strong. There was no catching either one of them from behind either. Earl was like a Mack truck, you didn't want to see him coming thru the line or you were possibly going to get hurt if you were a DB or Safety. You couldn't go wrong with any of the three.

Saw all of them play and see Herschell here in GA all time time as he is running for office. Personally I always thought Bo was the best of the 3 but man its close. My first question is who is the offense line. Other than that they are all pretty much tied. Saw Herschell play in Lex his soph year I believe. He had like 240 yards on the ground.

i watched all three (all were great)

Herschel is the greatest college running back i have ever seen
I disagree and I saw each of them too. Bo was better, he wasn't used as often as Herschel. The career stats are pretty clear.

Yards Per Rush
Bo 6.6
Herschel 5.3

Rush Per TD
Bo 15.12
Herschel 20.29

Probably not a wrong answer in the bunch. Auburn and Georgia have both had some really good backs in the last 40 years
I think Auburn had 3 NFL backs in the backfield at the same time in the 79 to 80 window Cribbs,Brooks and Andrews.

Who was the Greatest College Football RB?
Of those three I'd go with Herschel. But to me the greatest college, or pro, RB of all time is Barry Sanders.

1988: In 11 games, at Oklahoma St, he rushed for 2,628 yards - In 11 Freaking Games! That's an average of 237 yards per game rushing with 39 total TDs... Put it this way: Everyone knew he was getting the ball and they still couldn't stop him, slow him down, or contain him.

EDIT: And the reason he didn't get the ball a lot his freshman or sophomore year was because Thurman Thomas was the starter.

He'd have the NFL rushing record by a large margin had he not retired.

Purely college RB, Herschel.

Athlete, Bo and it ain't close.
Recall Bo going back on a fly ball and running 2-3 steps up the wall while making the catch and turn to his right and walk back down the wall and run in like there was nothing to it. No idea why I never thought to do that.

Because there are only a few who can make it happen. Chances are he just did it, he never thought about it or practiced it either. Like Nike says. JUST DO IT...... when I think of athletes affiliation to Nike its Bo Jackson and Michael Jordan........... Maybe Ken Griffy JR.

Everybody loves the power backs but Barry Sanders was other worldly

Stats aren’t everything, but…

Herschel: 5502 scrimmage yards and 52 touchdowns
Bo: 4575 scrimmage yards and 45 touchdowns
Earl: 4571 scrimmage yards and 41 touchdowns

……….and Herschel did that in three years where the other two did that in four………. If Herschel played all four years and remained healthy, it wouldn’t have been out of the question for him to have over 7000 scrimmage yards and 70 touchdowns as a running back. That ‘83 team was damn good even without him.

Alfred Collins UK

he had no online and look at what he did, horrible coaches and little to no QB

vastly underrated

haha

Hershel Walker was the best college running back I've ever watched. Earl Campbell was a human cement truck. Oddly for various reasons none of them were highly successful in the NFL.
