blowing a 14 pt lead

I know we out rebounded MSU tonight, but there were some critical moments where we failed to come down with a lose ball, that resulted in major points for them. A missed rebound is the same as a turnover. Hopefully they tighten up on that and box out more consistently so they can put teams away earlier. Glad to get the W

It probably was Pope’s worst coached game of the season. He sat Robinson way too long during that 14 point meltdown and didn’t call a timeout either. Then he stayed in zone too long. Love the guy but he isn’t Jesus and he made some mistakes tonight.

This isn’t really on Popebecause the players seemed to take on this mentality late in the game but we had like 5 trips in a row where Robinson didn’t even touch the ball. Thats borderline criminal when a guy that’s hot. He made a huge basket to basically ice the game. He should have had a couple more opportunities down the stretch to touch the ball and take a couple shots. Just glad to get out of there with a win
Disagree with that last point because if you were watching how MSU was defending they were doing EVERYTHING to keep him from getting a good look. And we used that to our advantage with his action OFF the ball (i.e. he didn't need to touch it to make an impact) and that freed up dudes like Almonor and other guys to get great looks

He sat Robinson because he was suddenly feeling it a little too much. And he was right. Seems like the guy he brought in did OK with there threes. Then when that guy started feeling it a little too much he put Jax back in to make the dagger

No, this is his worst coached game by a mile.
Disagree, yes may e he could have called a timeout during their run, but he did make adjustments. He played a zone for a few trips, and plugged guys in and out. Oweh had a bad game missing free throws and passes that would have led to baskets. With Carr ailing, thought he did a pretty good job.

We won because we shot lights out from 3 . We still can't gaurd a lamp post. However we have quite the record vs good teams so we're definitely doing something right. Still no clue what to thi k of on this team . After a game like this you think we can win it all. After last Tuesday feel like we will be out of top 25 by Feb. ..

Four wins against top 14 teams without a single first round pick?

And some of you keep pissing and moaning because home teams make runs and come back to make it close?

Get a grip on reality.

This team closed out strong. That's what matters.

I mean if you can’t enjoy this season - the first year with Pope, put together a team AND coaching staff in 3 weeks, rid of Cal, winning, exciting style, then just get lost. I mean seriously, just GTFO and let none psychopaths enjoy Kentucky basketball for once. I mean good grief.

maybe it's just me and recency bias but I feel like ..........I mean we've had games where we were down double digits only to come back and win......we've had games where we are up double digits and allow teams back in it..........does anyone feel this year there's been an abnormal amount of those things?

Like usually you are up 15-20........that game is done and dusted. Conversely if you are down that,

But this year I feel like no lead is safe and no deficit is too much.

Do we trust coach Pope or do we not? Early on everybody said they did. Now all of a sudden people don’t trust him making decisions? We won the freaking game.
Hell to the yes!! We have some hair on us and that's for sure but I love how many weapons we have. There are probably other teams that have balanced offense but I can't recall UK having such balanced offensive in the last few years. Robinson was in a groove and he's hard to stop when he's like that but we have plenty of guys who can get a bucket ( at least we did last night)

Proud of 'em. That's a tough spot to play even though we've beaten them a bunch.

One basket they made was crucial. With 2:25 to go in second half Melendez makes a steal and goes down for a dunk and took four steps from inside the 3 point line and dunked it and no walk was called. The announcers were noticeably silent. The game was not poorly officiated but that call was blatantly missed and could have been a game changer.

The Hook and foul on Perry was the most egregious one, IMO.
I think the way refs call the game in the final mins is the biggest key to most games. In general, they err on the side of letting most fouls go because they want to let the teams play it out without too much interference. That is when they aren't trying to force an outcome because they have money on it.

But back to my point, this gives the advantage to the more aggressive team, which is usually the team behind, and why so many games go down to the wire.

Thought the first half was officiated well. The second, however, was egregious.
