blowing a 14 pt lead

If you ask me, this is more about the treatment of UK than coaching mistakes.

Two coaches in a row who just forget how to coach? Or two coaches that at some points in time just throw their hands up and say "what can we do?"

Looking forward to watching this happen to the next coach. And the coach after that.

Matthew’s just runs into a crowd, drops his shoulder, run over our guy, and gets an and 1. Im a little removed bit is that not the definition of a charge, when he drops that shoulder I thought it was automatic charge??
This is total ****ing bullshit the bias ref last 2 games the hook on Perry the hack across both arms of Williams on the baseline in front of refs and NOTHING

The 6 point possession on the banked in 3 and a bs tictac away from the ball foul where feet got tangled bc their guy was out of control…. That contributed massively to the evaporation of the lead. Combined w the stripes letting MSU play “bully ball” and hack and throw bodies around

That's what happens when you play high level teams. It would be more concerning if it happens against Morehead or something.

Remember, Florida blew like an 11 point lead against us and we turned it to a 10 point lead

The name of the game on the road is to try to keep the lead and make the home team keep trying to come back.
If you can consistently do that all game you'll win.

And that's exactly what Kentucky did. They just stayed a little bit ahead the whole game and forced Mississippi State to play from behind versus when they were playing Georgia they were playing from behind all game.

Playing from behind had something to do with Mississippi State shooting 40 3's.
I don't think they shoot that many if they're winning the whole game making us chase them.

You got to have your mind right when you're on the road and I think they'll be ready from here on out

It happens, and you never like to see it but, you've gotta stop the bleeding and at least give your guys a chance to breath. We were absolutely frazzled.

Any road win in this league is going to be a war.

It probably was Pope’s worst coached game of the season. He sat Robinson way too long during that 14 point meltdown and didn’t call a timeout either. Then he stayed in zone too long. Love the guy but he isn’t Jesus and he made some mistakes tonight.

This isn’t really on Popebecause the players seemed to take on this mentality late in the game but we had like 5 trips in a row where Robinson didn’t even touch the ball. Thats borderline criminal when a guy that’s hot. He made a huge basket to basically ice the game. He should have had a couple more opportunities down the stretch to touch the ball and take a couple shots. Just glad to get out of there with a win

Yikes

You just gotta let a coach do what he does.

I remember many years ago Denny Crum telling dookie V he was going to get good coaches fired with his “call a TO baby” crap on TV.

Pope wants to win just as much as we do. He’s going to call a TO or not with that goal in mind.

Let him coach his way.

Well with these results I hope he keeps doing a shitty job coaching

I love Pope, too, but this was not his best coaching.
Apparently you aren’t allowed to say that. Like tonight is the first time I’ve had a problem with anything he’s done all season. Glad it worked out but I mean the guy will make mistakes from time to time and it’s cool to call it out and discuss it.

I give him a ton of credit of getting his guys ready after Tuesday, finishing the game after the 14 point meltdown. Certainly not something that wouldve likely happened under the previous regime.

Four wins against top 14 teams without a single first round pick?

And some of you keep pissing and moaning because home teams make runs and come back to make it close?

Get a grip on reality.

This team closed out strong. That's what matters.
