Really, Jay? Really? I like you and all but...come on, man. Get real.

Re: Bilal just said KU has more quality wins than any other team in the country

I'm gonna need a time hack to believe that. 3 of those teams aren't even ranked.

Re: Bilal just said KU has more quality wins than any other team in the country

3 of those teams suck ass.

Florida has 7 losses. MSU has 6...

At this rate, they will not make NCAA tourney.

Re: Bilal just said KU has more quality wins than any other team in the country

Probably counting every B-12 win. Every win in that conference is automatically a quality win.

Indian Jay Bilal?

lol...fat fingers. Was so shocked by what Bilas/Bilal/whatever said that I couldn't even type straight.

Just went back and listened. Yep, he actually said that. Somebody has got to tweet him with the truth.

UK has the most quality wins (hands down, no debate and no discussion necessary), but I wish KU all the luck because for every win they get, it makes our prison rape of them look that much better.

Yeah, let's look at the blind resumes below and see which one is more impressive:

Team A Wins:
Michigan StateFloridaGeorgetownUtahBaylorOklahoma State
Team B Wins:
KansasProvidenceTexasNorth CarolinaUCLALouisvilleAlabama

If you go off RPI and strength of schedule then he is correct. If you go off eye test and know basketball then he is far from correct.
Teams like Michigan State and Florida were highly over ranked pre-season

Anytime anyone compliments any team in college we freak out. Are we that insecure? I dont think I've watched a college game this year without UK being mentioned in a VERY positive light. Especially a UL game...half the time they mention UK.

Careful...he said they had "more quality wins". We're not talking about SOS and RPI. UK brought down Thor's chit hammer on them, so you throw that one out along with the Temple raping. What's left? Not as impressive as UK's wins.

Also, RPI is an awful way to measure this. Too much weight is given to the bottom feeders on both our schedules. If you throw out any team under, say 150 (because let's be honest, they're all pretty bad), UK clearly has the stronger schedule.

Not only is UK winning more impressive than KU, but they're doing it more decisively. Wins over Kansas (lol), Providence, UNC, Texas and Bama ALL by double digits. Would have beat UL by double digits without that silly foul at the end by Aaron.

Bilas is great, but he'll occasionally say something completely out of left field. Remember when Cornell was beating the John Wall team?

If anyone goes off RPI, they need their head examined. Easily the worst program out there.

How is pointing out the foolishness of his statement "freaking out"? We're just UK fans talking about UK and college basketball. It's kind of what we do here.

I remember a talk Jay had with our team last year when he told them he would be one of the guys supplying the clutter. Honestly Lou, he told them that.

If there are no talking points, there is no talk. If the idea of UK getting beat isn't kept alive, all the talk will turn to margin of victory. Takes the fun out of it for fans of mortal teams.

It goes further than that. Every sportswriter in America is disliked by us because that one time 12 years ago he picked Duke over us. God forbid someone compliment another team or coach. We're king, we have the best coach. We need to relax and keep letting our games to the talking..

Fair enough, and good point. I realize they are paid to be talking heads and create interest, and Jay is really good at what he does. I sort of hold him to a higher standard than some of the others because he's such a smart guy and usually doesn't seem to be influenced by drama or controversy.

Still like Jay but completely disagree with this particular statement.

Quit exaggerating or just outright lying. There are plenty of writers/commentators/analysts that most UK fans like or respect. Doyel, DeCourcy, and Bilas off the top of my head.

You are lumping everyone here together. That is wrong. You have to remember there are large numbers of UK fans and many post here, more than most any other board. Every sportswriter in America is disliked by some subset of the UK fan base. They make a thread here to talk about. It gets hits and replies from several, but that is still just a very small percentage of the people that post here. I see people doing what you have done all the time. Unless there is a means to vote and we get everyone to vote every time, you cannot lump everyone together. A while back there was a thread about which school is our most heated rival. There was no consensus. There were many camps. If one of them started up a heated thread about a sportswriter that favored one team over Kentucky that camp would chime in. If another sportswriter that favored a different school said something against UK or Calipari, another camp would roll in and comment. While I agree with your sentiment and I, too, will be glad when we react more like we did in the late 90's when almost nothing could get our goat, people have to talk about something but not everyone is talking about the same things.

We went through this last year with Kansas. Everyone kept kissing their rears when it was very apparent to anyone that watched them that the team, while talented, just did not look good very often at all.

As usual, the NCAA tournament exposed them for what they really where: a talented team that just wasn't that good.

Another reason why I will never understand the love for Bilas from UK fans. Earlier this year he was saying Wisconsin was the best team he had seen even AFTER he called our game with KU.

But for some reason he always gets this love for "telling it like it is" ?

I haven't always felt this way about him but he is quickly becoming one of the most annoying color guys in CBB. He knows the game and all but at the same time seems to have a problem with EVERYTHING. Always criticizing the refs, calling for changes to rules, always pointing out what players are doing wrong. I hated Billy Packer for the same reason. I do like that he called out Chris Jones after the flop but then again anyone ever heard him act like that when a dukie does it ? Didn't think so

And he's also one of the main personalities who keeps acting as if college athletes should get paid. I remember him and Jimmy Dykes going at each other last year on twitter about that. Yeah...players who get trips to the Bahamas for 700K should be getting paid to play basketball (just an example, I have no problem personally with that trip).

Guess everyone is entitled to their opinion... mine is that he sucks. Gimme Kara Lawson and some no-name dude over any of these high profile yappers any day

Cliff Clavin: [talking to Simon] So if you Brits ever find yourselves in trouble against, uh, another major Military power like Argentina, don't worry about a thing. We Yanks will be there to bail you out just like we worked on the last two big ones, eh?

[Simon just gives a quiet, smiling nod, 'masking' his true emotions]

Norm Peterson: Cliffy! Cliff, there's a gentleman over here that thinks you know absolutely nothing about photosynthesis.

Cliff Clavin: [getting up] Oh yeah, Norm? Well, I'll straighten him out.
