Big Z - ZERO minutes in the second half?

Sure he gets lost on defense as does Ugo and Aaron.
The difference is Z is at least an offensive threat as a 3 point shooter and passer. He played well despite Ike manhandling him down low in the 1st half. Ike manhandled The other two posts also. Keeping Rob on the bench was another great move as CCC bragged that he was a top 5 draft pick. We had Ugo and Justin on the floor with Z and Rob riding the pine. Edwards did have 5 rebounds though he is not really an offensive threat.

He had to get AB some clock in the 2H because Klutch was texting the staff at halftime saying he needs some run.
IF …..you were going to have a seven footer in the game on that asinine play at the end . It has to be Z . And his ass shouldn’t be right under the basket clogging up the middle enabling his man to steal the lob like Ugo did. It was ridiculous that Z and especially Dilly weren’t in the game on that play .

Z was downright awful. Gets pushed around so easily. Can't create space inside. Can't fight thru screens. As bad as other bigs are , they contribute more then Z does.
Bradshaw and Ugo combined to have one more rebound and one less point in 19 more minutes than Z.
No, he wasn't. He was better than Ugo or Smoochy. He had 7 points 3 rebs and 1 block in 11 minutes.
Not that it matters but they should just go back to small ball and live with it. 3 guards adou and Mitchell. Burks and the other guard off the bench and maybe some big z and just live with it
Need a coach to put him in pick and pop. Cal has him rolling to the basket and that is not his strength. Coaching matters.
I thought Z played one possession in the second half. Got killed on the pick and roll and Cal pulled him immediately.
Good thing Cal thought the other 2 were defending the post so well 🙄.

Anything would have been better than watching Bradshaw continuously get abused on defense.

I don’t get the “free Big Z” stuff, he’s terrible. It’s not the coaching staff playing him out of position either, he has to defend someone what ever spot he plays

For 2 years we railed on Oscar about his lack of defense, especially guarding the pick and roll . Now we have 3 more that don’t have a clue . Maybe we need to look elsewhere for the actual root of the problem.
Does that mean shepherd's weak ass attempt into the arms of a Zag defender was less costly than Z's mistake ? Just Checking , my point is all the guys have bad plays , lost assignments , poor rotations , etc and etc ... I would buy what you’re selling if the guys playing ahead of him were any better on defense. And surely even you will admit he is head and shoulders better offensively.
Why would you not front the post, deny the pass instead of always playing behind them. And of course any coach worth a crap would utilize a zone to stop the pick and roll. Anybody but the moron coach we pay$9 million a year!!
He hardly played in the second half, and yet Gonzaga still has their way in the post. Looks like others need to guard their spot when Z isn't in the game.
I hate to admit it, but losing out on Dickinson really hurt. He has his limitations but would be way better then anything we have.

Ugo has the basketball IQ of a solid 8th grader .. You cant really believe that ? based on what ? Hes been handed a starting position .. been given waaaay more minutes than AB or Z , and AB had his shot the entire first half of the season , but there's 1 guy outta the 3 who seems to be getting $%^&%ed' ..... I'll let you decipher it . It's the guy who should be getting a real chance .. not 3 min here , 4 min there , 11 min one game , 2 the next ... play the damn guy 28 min and see . The other 2 guys got their shot . But it isnt gonna happen , Cal's a prick .
I think he definitely shoulders some of the blame.
But we don’t praise Cal when Reed goes off in the second half or Dilly goes off vs UT.
At some point I blame Cal but not for the same reasons most do here. It’s the recruiting. We suck on defense because we aren’t recruiting good defenders.
There’s a line here on what can be taught vs what is based in skill. Do these guys stink because they aren’t being taught or do these guys stink because they just cannot defend.
I watch Bradshaw and I think no amount of coaching is going to turn this guy into a good defensive player. It’s just not happening. It goes the same for several others on this squad.

Defense is about work. It's about effort, desire, pride. It's about getting down in a stance with feet wide and arms spread and making a decision that the opponent is NOT getting a basket in crunch time. It's also about a coach putting his players in a position to succeed. I don't see Cal doing that.

I call BS on that. It's not as if these guys aren't showing effort. They showed plenty of effort and plenty of pride coming back down 12 in this game.
But when push come to shove and they needed defensive stops they just couldn't do it. It wasn't for lack of trying tho.
