You're taking it wrong. That wasn't necessarily a slight against Ark. I don't think Knox ever wanted anything to do with college and will be very frustrated if he has to "suffer" through more than one year of it. I believe that in his mind (and basically all Calipari recruits) you're a failure under Calipari if you're not one-and-done.

Exactly! These 5 stars sign with Cal to go to the NBA, we had guys leaving in droves because they were 5 stars and Cal told them he could get them there. I guess they will magically start staying at Arkansas 3-4 years now! Lol

Cal has a way of changing things. Richmond and Knox are good, not great. Thiero is an oft injured middle aged player that dances to a different beat. Arkansas doesn’t necessarily attract basketball players and now you have an old coach that only coaches when he’s not self promoting himself. Good luck but with Cal the future never is as bright as you think it is.

Pelphrey, Musselman and Cal all have had top 5 recruiting classes at Arkansas. The portal now makes it tough though because you’re just as likely to find a random stud mid-major like Lanier who is just as good as a 5* freshman recruit even though that doesn’t show up in the rankings necessarily.

i got no love/hate for his decison. he would not have fit on this season’s roster. going against the grain… considering pope’s offense, he’s actually (most of) the player you’d want. i agree he’s soft, but you got to guard him outside. the 1.9 blocks in 19 minutes is also a good stat. i’d rather not have a weaker center, but if you’re going full on with the 30+ threes a game, he’s an interesting player.

Same. And as miffed as we were about him going to Arkansas, we would welcome him back. He's actually a smart player, in terms of court vision, IMO. Great passer. Sweet stroke from deep. And IF he muscled up he could kill it in the paint.

Just goes to show that with coach Pope we have relative stability. Only reason we lost who we did was because they had no eligibility left. Otherwise Robinson Brea butler Carr and Williams would have stayed. We haven’t had stability since tubbys days.

Big Z could feast in Pope’s offense not only because of the 3 point shot but something else that doesn’t get as much attention—-one of Big Z’s strengths was getting down the court for easy outlets. He may not be quick, but he has enough speed to be a threat for back cuts against opposing centers who’d have to stick to him like glue. Those types of back cuts weren’t a thing in Cal’s offense due to A.) There is too much congestion in the paint due to all the non-shooters and B.) Calipari’s freelance left shooters to stand and wait for drive and kicks. If you couldn’t score off floppy action called sets or catch and shoot off drive and kicks, perimeter scoring wasn’t going to happen. Is Big Z coming to Kentucky? No. Would I welcome it? Absolutely.

I don’t think he would because he is a huge defensive liability if he can’t block it. I’m so thankful he isn’t at UK tbh but I do wish him the best.
