Big z enters portal

Just nuts he followed Cal there in the first place.
He was given every opportunity but in the end he just couldn't improve at the rate of Brazille and Adou. I liked him while he was here and, at Arkansas. He simply needs weight and muscle. I Wish him well.

That's not the case or Cal would still be coaching here. I don't care what you tell yourself though. Go ahead and run with that.
There wasn't money for Cal specifically, everyone was done with him. Different situation now. You know this you're just a Cal troll.

But please continue to post this nonsense over the next week when UK signs players.

I can't tell if you realize those two things are related or not. Doesn't matter.

Are you saying not having good enough NIL backing is why we lost those games, or losing those games is part of why the money dried up on Cal? Because if it's the first.... ummmmm.... 🤣 not enough NIL is a legit excuse for losing to power conference teams with big financial backing. Not for losing to small conference schools in the first round when you've got NBA talent.

I know you and certain others wouldn't be making that excuse for Pope if he had lost to Troy with a far less talented UK team.

Z needs to take a year off (like the 7'9" kid at Florida), He needs to hire a strength and conditioning coach full time, he needs to hire an nutritionist full time, personal chef and then go to the best big man training person in the USA to figure out he is 7'2" player that can move, can pass, can shoot but cannot play the game of basketball worth a crap, then go to whomever and see if he learned anything what so ever. Otherwise go back home and play overseas ball.

He remains an intriguing prospect for the simple fact that guys with his combination of size and shooting touch are so rare. 2 blocks in 19 minutes per game is actually pretty good too, so he gives some rim protection albeit mostly as a secondary defender.

He still looked just as frustrating at Arkansas as he was here in other aspects of his game though. Disappeared for portions of games because his offense is still almost entirely limited to catch and shoot with the occasional lob, doesn’t have great positioning defensively and is too weak to be as effective as a rebounder or on ball post defender as he size suggests he could be. I’m still interested to see what another coach might could get out of him since Cal traditionally struggles utilizing finesse bigs, but he seems like a high risk high reward addition more than a sure thing right now.

You wonder what he would look like in a real offense. Unknown.

Arkansas just had their best season they will have with Calipari as coach and they were a loss to USC from not making the tournament.
I hope all of your players return

Richmond already announced.
Knox has told folks the same.
Thiero will test waters but people inside say he wants to come back if late second grade. I'd rather get a portal guy. Thiero kills me.

We will smash the portal this year. Good luck to you guys.
Cal has a way of changing things. Richmond and Knox are good, not great. Thiero is an oft injured middle aged player that dances to a different beat. Arkansas doesn’t necessarily attract basketball players and now you have an old coach that only coaches when he’s not self promoting himself. Good luck but with Cal the future never is as bright as you think it is.

Big Z could feast in Pope’s offense not only because of the 3 point shot but something else that doesn’t get as much attention—-one of Big Z’s strengths was getting down the court for easy outlets. He may not be quick, but he has enough speed to be a threat for back cuts against opposing centers who’d have to stick to him like glue. Those types of back cuts weren’t a thing in Cal’s offense due to A.) There is too much congestion in the paint due to all the non-shooters and B.) Calipari’s freelance left shooters to stand and wait for drive and kicks. If you couldn’t score off floppy action called sets or catch and shoot off drive and kicks, perimeter scoring wasn’t going to happen. Is Big Z coming to Kentucky? No. Would I welcome it? Absolutely.

Exactly. That fanbase still believes that Cal will win there.

But his defense is horrific.

We will get back more than you guys think.
Probably 4 return
maybe 5 if what we are hearing on Thiero is correct.

Fland and Z go. I would rather have Brazille as Thiero.

Hopefully we keep Knox, Billy, DJ and Brazille. 3 Freshmen 1 shooter and 3 bigs from portal.
We thought that way every year, didn’t happen though. Kids play for Cal for one reason , get to the league as quick as possible
