Big z enters portal

He does so many good things that we have to live through his mistakes. If he can improve his outside shot, he will improve his status.

I want back
Billy Richmond
T Brazile
DJ
Karter

I'm good with Thiero back if he leaves the two drives to the lane with no plan for a turnover, while the rest of the team plays 4 on 5 at the other end while he complains he was fouled, in the past.
He definitely plays hard . Him and Knox stuck out defensively in the tournament . Like you said if he develops a jumper he has a lot of potential .

Impossible. He only had 9 scholarship players. Only 7 can return. How can he lose a ton, when he only has a hand full? LOL!

My guess:

Wagner- stays.
Brazile- stays.
Richmond- stays.
Ivisic- transfers.
Fland- NBA.
Thiero- NBA.
Knox- NBA.
Good guess, I think. I believe that Knox wants to leave so bad that he'll will listen to about anybody who suggests he could be a 2nd round pick. If his agent and handlers convince him that he has to return to Ark. next season, I suspect that his resentment could be palpable.

As for Richmond, I think he's making a mistake not going somewhere where he can play PG. He can develop into a good college SF, but I think (and I know I could be wrong here) that he could turn out to be something special as a PG. St. John's and Pitino - who may well value his defense over his poor perimeter shot at this point - might be a place for his agent to look into.

We will get back more than you guys think.
Probably 4 return
maybe 5 if what we are hearing on Thiero is correct.

Fland and Z go. I would rather have Brazille as Thiero.

Hopefully we keep Knox, Billy, DJ and Brazille. 3 Freshmen 1 shooter and 3 bigs from portal.

Whether you believe it or not, I know for a fact that Knox absolutely loves being a Razorback.

Same. And as miffed as we were about him going to Arkansas, we would welcome him back. He's actually a smart player, in terms of court vision, IMO. Great passer. Sweet stroke from deep. And IF he muscled up he could kill it in the paint.
He can’t guard. He’s worse than Amari

First off, let me say that I really liked Thiero, and wanted him to stay...

Now, what I theorize happened was Thiero told Cal (who was maybe a little desperate and wanted to hit the ground running) that he would come with Cal if he had a green light, guaranteed. And Cal agreed. That's possibly why you saw Thiero forcing it a bit. Cause he could. He and his dad seemed very eager to get to the NBA. So, I wouldn't hold my breath on him coming back.

You dont know Cal...knox, etc are gone
Knox is not gone

Good post. Agreed. I would rather trade Thiero for Morez Johnson, Cyril or even Keyshawn Hall or Ament.

You're taking it wrong. That wasn't necessarily a slight against Ark. I don't think Knox ever wanted anything to do with college and will be very frustrated if he has to "suffer" through more than one year of it. I believe that in his mind (and basically all Calipari recruits) you're a failure under Calipari if you're not one-and-done.

Was it? Cal and his staff brought the kid to the US, got him eligible ... probably did a lot behind the scenes we'll never know. These kids love their coaches.
Right. But then, after Z had actually had a few shinning moments, Cal sat him in Siberia. We all saw the potential, and then Cal barely played him. I would have thought that might've soured Z towards Cal.

We are happy with his decision

Wrong.
Billy coming back. Karter coming back.
Thiero may be back but would rather have Brazile.
DJ likely back.

I'll bet just about anything you are wrong. Knox will be gone just like Edwards and Livingston before him. Thiero will definitely leave unless he's having surgery or something. I'll give you Richmond and Wagner, yay!

If I was Pope I would bring both brothers, each to give us 20 minutes and keep them fresh and out foul troubles. And in 2 years get them both in NBA like the Lopez brothers.

That would open the European market especially from former Yugoslavia where they have tons of talented players in Serbia, Croatia , Slovenia etc.

Knox has nowhere to go at the moment. He could be a 1st round pick in 2026 though with some refinement.

It will be interesting to watch the Arkansas roster as all this will be new for Cal. In years past, NOBODY would be returning. With NIL you will have the Chris Livingston and Ashton Hagans types returning for many teams but who knows if Cal doesn't continue to push guys out for his freshemen.

Be fun to have him back...but one our biggest weaknesses this year was rebounding and Z is SOFT
I pretty much agree .. but … but but but — I’d have his soft 7’2 ass back here in a moments notice . Under the circumstance he plays the 4 .. he’s NOT a center ! . Get an aircraft carrier giant ass strong 5 and let Z be what he was meant to be . Then the guy shines . Cal misused him for 2 years .. he 🪀 ed” him in and out of the lineup like crazy . Heck go after both the Z brothers .

As would Arkansas. I think they end up both at Illinois
Big Z's brother is (and should be) a Center. It's doubtful that Big Z wants to compete with his brother for the starting Center position, right? You saw Big Z all year. Do you really think Big Z at PF - just because he "could" do that - would make a great starting lineup combination alongside his brother? Or would Big Z be better off going somewhere that he could start at Center and that intends to use his perimeter and passing skills, and preferably be alongside a physically strong PF?

Welcome Arkansas to what mass exodus feels like every year. This is just the beginning!
Wasn't the core of Arkansas' team built on guys who came with him from Kentucky? When you have $ to spend on retention you tend to hang on to more of those guys. I think you're making assumptions based on the last few years Cal was in Lexington but that doesn't correlate to the situation he has in Arkansas where there is money to retain players.

Last few years? How naive and delusional you Cal Boys are. It's cute. That "core" you are referring to were mostly freshman recruits and players not good enough for the draft.

I don't know one Hog fan that is sad about Big Z moving on.
He tried to blame Richmond for his mistakes a couple of times and Billy almost squared off on him once.
He always has a look of bewilderment anytime he fouls and throws his hands up in the air in disgust.

He was good when he was good and abysmal other times. He could defend Spud Webb at the rim.

But i wish him well

There was and is more than enough money to retain players at UK. But when was retention ever Calipari's goal?
