Friday Night Lights

The big news item of the day and the weekend is Kentucky’s Friday Night Lights camp this evening, which will run fairly late. I will be in touch with sources if anything happens.

For now I’m monitoring three situations closely.

1) Tate Leavitt. A commitment is not expected tonight. I’m not saying it’s impossible. But it’s not “expected.” Kentucky is the front runner but the big story here is Leavitt’s return trip, the time he will spend with Stoops, Marrow and Schlarman, not to mention Courtney Love, Kyle Meadows and Marcelys Jones, as well as Drake Jackson, Landon Young and 2016 commitments beyond those two. In my opinion something really strange would have to happen for this trip not to be a slam dunk. Leavitt wants to major in sports management so Kentucky will have to lay out a case this weekend for what they can present on the academic front.

2) De’Niro Laster. Yesterday as I mentioned here Laster told me this was the only visit he was planning on taking. Last I heard all seemed to be looking good. Will touch base with Laster and sources today.

3) 2017 start? I have not heard with 100-percent certainty whether this commitment will be accepted, although I have a hard time believing it wouldn’t be. Needless to say, we’re ready. I’ve already got quotes from the player in question. Rivals already has a graphic ready. No big teases but he’s fast, he’s athletic and he would make Kentucky better. It’d be a rock solid start to the ’17 class.

Other Visitors Beyond Leavitt

Most of the 2016 class, Kurt Taylor (maybe, not definite, 2017), Jaquan Henderson (2017), JUCO OT Demetri Moore, Jamar Watson, Walvenski Aime, a bigger crowd from Georgia, a lot of in-state kids, several from Tennessee, and Kenneth Ruff are some of the biggest names expected to show up, although there are a couple I’m not mentioning yet until I get more of a sure signal on. I have not heard whether Jedrick Wills plans to be in attendance.

Davonte Robinson Chatter

There’s been talk from some quarters that Davonte Robinson will be visiting Notre Dame. I believe it’s likely that’s going to happen. Robinson plays things very close to the vest. Kentucky wants to keep him badly. I think they’ve got a good shot at keeping him on board but an ND visit isn’t ideal from UK’s vantage point (obvious statement is obvious).

Lots of other stuff going on, like Tyreic Martin listing UK in his top seven and some other news items, but the ones above are the big things to follow.
