Why do these trolls show up when the season is over? They're never here to discuss the game or the season itself.
Have you not heard, Pope and staffs plane went down, they all survived with no injuries but missed taking the recruit to dinner all is ruined. UK is cursed. Pope is a failure. We are a backwoods university and can only offer moonshine and toothless prostitutes to the recruits coming to visit. UK will never win another player ever again.

My cousins, brothers, aunt, twice removed from the family is having an affair with the best friend of the acquaintance of Mark Popes father. She said Pope is using the NIL money to keep him and his family afloat.

I do agree, and I tend to be pretty positive. To me getting outbid won't be on Coach Pope, though. It's on the boosters and administration. The Crafts and others wanted to be more hands-on/have more access to the program. MB wanted it to not be a "fiefdom" anymore (and I do believe we were trending in the wrong direction under the previous coach). Well, okay. Give our coach the resources and warchest he needs.

My theory:
-We have one of the biggest NIL budgets in the nation
-It’s not head and shoulders different than the other top programs
-Many schools have budgets to get a big time piece or two
-The top programs main difference from the next tiers will be in quality depth pieces and incoming freshmen. Lesser programs can take the risk of one star injury ruining their season. The elite programs have to pay for big time bench players too because there is no excuse for disappointing seasons, injuries or not.

If those figures are accurate I agree no college basketball player is worth 3 mil or basically 1/3 of your total budget.
Most people have no idea how much money the horse industry brings just to Lexington.
Much more if you include the whole state. But the bulk is in Lexington.
If UK needed $1, 2, 3 even 5 mil to close the deal on a player it’s there for the asking.
I know a couple guys that would do it alone if they had to. But they wouldn’t.
The decision rarely comes down to money alone. But if it did we are good.
But if it came down to money alone and no other factor, I think UK would pass. I doubt Pope would even ask if that was the deciding factor.

$8-10 mil doesn’t sound like a ton of BYU is paying a freshman $7 mil and UCLA is paying a senior transfer $3 mil.

Trilly stated 7-10 mil. I've seen other insiders say we are willing to go past ten. One thing is clear, we have money to spend this off-season.
If we gave Dent 3m then we have to give OO more. Boom there goes 70% of our NIL money and we haven't even addressed the other 10-12 players. Nobody's going to get 3m unless the team paying them that has a bunch of other guys that don't want much. I'm glad we didn't pay Dent, or anyone else that kind of cash. Besides that I want OO back a lot more than Dent for 1 year.
Gonna be 15mil next year if we don't start using it.
