Playing against Marquette right now.

Simmons to me, appears to be head and shoulders better than any other player from the 2015 class. I think he'd have a chance at #1 in most classes.

if he's still #1 by the time the draft rolls around it'll be a true testament to his ability because LSU looks very average as usual, despite having a load of talent and experience.

Both of these teams look pretty average. Lots of bad turnovers. LSU looks terrible defensively early on.

At first I thought at LSU would be a sure loss for us this season. I'm no longer convinced.

I still think they could get us at their place. But honestly Simmons is their pride and joy. Shut him down (hard task) you will win.

LSU is gonna be a good team. They aren't looking great right now but I think they'll be really tough by the tournament. If Jerrell Martin had came back they'd be a top 10 team IMO.

He really is. He's their best rebounder, scorer, passer, play maker and defender both down low and on the perimeter.

Right on cue, Simmons goes coast to coast and flushes it in traffic. Impressive.

He's the best player in the country. Not sure how a team will meld around him or how it will work out for them, but he is the best player out there and is a lock for #1 pick in the draft.

I just don't trust Johnny Jones. He's had so much talent at LSU the last 3 or 4 seasons and they've only made the tourney once and lost to NC State.

Quarterman just passed up an open 3 for a contested 3 off the dribble. Luckily he hit it.

LSU is without 2 of their starters. Victor and Hornsby will make a big difference also their bench will be stronger due to playing major minutes now.

Love simmons' game. Plays like a guard and can do it all. He should win POY barring injury.

LSU is only in this because of 3 point shooting and Simmons all around play.

Blakeney looks pretty bad right now.

I didn't realize they were without 2 players though to be fair.

Poythress is tailor made to guard Simmons.

With that said, agree with most of the rest of this thread.

A good defensive team that can just somewhat contain Simmons should beat LSU handily. They run everything through him. Johnny will be too stupid to adjust when they go against a team that throws a physical guy at him and hinders his production. They'll be dead in the water, trying to run street ball offense through the rest of their guys and it'll fail miserably.

Simmons is a great player, but I just don't see LSU getting to far. They'll be a 2006 Kevin Durant(25.8ppg)/Texas(25-10) or 2007 Michael Beasley(26.2ppg)/Kansas State(21-12) type team this year.

Simmons is a monster.

But they'll have to find answers for Ulis, Murray, Briscoe, Labissiere, Poythress, Lee. I don't think they can do it.

Simmons wil get his but LSU will not be able to stop our dribble penetration. Marquette is running wild on them and we have talent off the dribble that puts Marquette to shame.

Let Simmons get his and we still win.

I feel sorry for number 3 when Labisserie gets done bullying him.

Quarterman, who was largely responsible for keeping LSU in it in the first half along with Simmons is now on the bench with 3 fouls.

LSU HAS shot the ball pretty well from deep.

I agree that this is a game that Kentucky would be better off letting Simmons get his and staying home on LSU's shooters.

I would assign Poy to stay on Simmons all night and not worry about anything else. Then let our other 4 beat their other 4 like a drum.

Just iso on simmons over and over until he gets two fouls. Start the 2nd half with isolation plays against his defense until he has 4 fouls. The key is making him defend ALOT. He can't do it.
LSU melts without him. They will go to Blakeney for 3's but if you cover him its all over for LSU.

no defense by my tigers tonight...blakeney having a rough night for sure. as a cats football fan..coach JJ compares favorably to coach stoops imo. not really in his makeup, would love to see simmons be a bit selfish.

Skal bullying someone is a pipe dream at this point. Kid is as soft as the Charmin he wipes his butt with. Thank god he's one of the most skilled offensive players I've ever seen at his height and age.

I read this thread and then went to check the box score. I expected to see Simmons with 20/10 already the way everyone is talking about him. 9 points.

Seems to me LSU has a major problem. Their leading assist guy needs to be down low giving them a presence. Robinson isn't a real threat. I don't think a team running through Simmons as a point forward is going very far. jmo

Not only that, but they lost a 14 point lead with 4 mins to go in that game.

Johnny Jones is the only coach that will take a talent like Ben Simmons and have him set multiple picks on offense. Instead of LSU playing thru Simmons, they are playing thru his picks. Wow, now that's coaching lol

He made a bunch of nice passes early that lead directly to LSU buckets. Has 14/11/6 right now with 8 to go.

Also he's gotten several clean looks from three for Blakeney that Blakeney just hasn't been able to knock down. Just dropped a sweet dime in the paint that should have been another but the big guy choked the layup.

WOJO-coached Marquette lost its last game by 28 to Iowa. Not Iowa State.

Yes I was just trying to be funny... you got it pegged

No offense but if you were watching the game you'd know what we are talking about. This Simmons kid is just a fabulous player in every facet of the game. He does everything... great. He's dropping some of the sweetest dimes you've ever seen but his boneheaded teammates are blowing half of them.

I thought it was absurd to compare anyone to LeBron, but that is who he is. That's really the only comparison. Not as strong as he's younger but he's also a little smoother. Literally a combination of Magic and Bron. That sounds stupid but yet there it is.

I'll see him twice this year when he has to play against other elite players. That will tell the tale. Marquette is terrible.

Quarterman can only hit a jumper if there's a hand in his face apparently
