Beating Duke was more than just winning a basketball game.

Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to beat Duke as much as anyone in the BBN. What I didn’t expect was that rush that I haven’t felt in a while. That rush was a feeling of shared pride that we as a part of BBN had lost over the last few years. The joy I felt as we won a game that in the past few years we would have lost down the stretch or even more likely would not have even been close to winning ran over me. I had forgotten just how much Kentucky basketball had meant to me for so many years, and how it always changed the way I felt and how a good win always had a positive impact on my mood. I want to say a big thank you to Coach Pope, the entire team, and the coaching staff for giving me something I have missed so much.

True. This is the start of the Pope era. Losses will happen. Bad games will happen. Bonehead mistakes will be made. Nobody is perfect. But, to date, Mark Pope is batting a perfect game for what he could have done since being hired. He will be given a lot of grace for the aforementioned blemishes if he keeps being the awesome leader and role model he is, listening to the fans and producing such a sexy and successful hard working product.

Kentucky basketball is BACK baby!

I'm used to stewing until the earlier hours after yet another demoralizing loss. This time I was in after glow until the early morning hours cuz we won and I wanted to soak it all up. Moral of the story, I'm not sleeping after a big game win or lose.

hadn't watched a complete UK game since 2015.
this game and enthusiasm was the UK of old and brought back memories of my mom keeping score on a sheet of paper, jumping up and down like a high school cheerleader.
miss my parents very much, but this brought back a sad but happy memory

I dont know if anyone else felt this...but I never allowed myself to think that UK could win that game until the first Butler free throw went in with 5.1 secons left.

I just figured it was going to be another soul crushing loss.

It is going to take some time to be deprogrammed from that last several years, but last night was a significant first step.

AS OP stated, its great to have this feelling back!
