That would be a huge win and could give us a real boost in confidence.
I wouldn’t say it’s a must win at all. It would be a huge win against a top 5 opponent but it’s not like the season is over if we lose, I mean let’s have some perspective here.
Need to go 2-0 next wk, right the ship & get back to possibly a double bye in SECT.

I’d love to go 5-3 our last 8. That makes us 21-9. We would be a 3-4 seed with that record and our quality wins especially if we make it deep in the SECT. If we sneak a win against UT or Auburn even better.

Anyone with 5 or less losses is alive for a top 4 seed IMO. Auburn and Alabama probably locks for 2 of the 4 but other 2 wide open.
It'll be interesting to see what adjustments both teams make. I don't see UT missing that many 3's again. But they will also be seeing Lamont Butler for the first time.

Committee was kind to UK the past 3 seasons IMO. We just didn't take advantage. Now 2010 to 2019 we got screwed some I agree.

We will have one more starting point guard than the last time we played them.
We have really shot ourselves in the foot losing to Arkansas, Vandy, and Georgia. At this point I’ve resigned to the idea we will be playing Thursday. If we limp through the rest of the schedule we may well be playing Wednesday. We don’t have room for error anymore this season - we need to win the games we must and some we are supposed to lose to have any hope of getting a top 4 seed. We may have to win out to get a top 4 seed. If we can go 6-2 the rest of the way, we would land at 11-7 and we would probably avoid playing on Wednesday. I think that’s our best case unless we rediscover our early season trajectory.

They also aren’t usually a great offensive team. They’re 33rd in offense. Not bad but not insane. We meanwhile for all our struggle are still Number 2. It’s just our defense killing us. Number NINETY. Woof.
We already know from Barnes’ comments after our last meeting that UT won’t shoot anywhere near that many threes this time around. So it’ll be interesting to see what Pope’s defensive strategy is on Tuesday. Also will be interesting to see how Butler is utilized because we did a pretty damn good job on Zeigler last time, confusing him with Amari.
Just like Ark coming in with wanting to prove something, UT will be even hungrier than Ark. We should have Buter, who is still trying to figure out how to play with the brace, will Carr get any better, will Jax be any better? Who knows. UT is going to be locked in. We need everyone locked in as well. Do not need to start as slow as we usually do. Will be interesting. Will stop in here middle of 2nd half to see how things are going.
Well being realistic, two of the byes are almost all but taken with Auburn and Bama. I don't see a scenario where we jump them, being 4 games back with 8 to play. And then, we are 2 games back from the other two byes.. and I just don't see how we can make up that much ground when we have 4 ranked teams left to play.
I would shoot for a single bye, and if we can get a double bye, then all the better. But I don't think it's likely, or even really, near-likely.
