Beat KU easily, curb stomped by UT

Seriously? That’s subject to happen to any team. Every team has a range of performance. Some mindless boys that pretend to be macho say luck has nothing to do with it but that’s fantasy. Sometimes you don’t play your best. People that cant handle that probably shouldn’t watch sports.
Been watching sports a long time. Have no problem losing games. Have lots of problems when you beat yourself. See the Titans this year in the playoffs.

Just not happy with the effort last night. Should never happen on a team like this. We’ve been saying all year how we play to the level of competition. We sure as crap didn’t last night. Better come out Saturday pissed off as hell.

Case in point. Can happen to any team. And so what? Better come out? Or what? Just who you think you are threatening? Just what are you going to do to KY?

For the love of…..are you just an antagonist for fun?
I’ve been an athlete. Sometimes you get beat. It’s not about fun or rah rah boys. You go out and throw down what you got. Sometimes you get beat. Crying and blathering don’t fix it. You get up and try to get better and go again. All this blather and whining accomplishes nothing.

Put both UT games together and we still win by double digits. If they curb stomped us in Knoxville, what did we do to them at Rupp?

Team seems to have peaked too soon.

Or we are just not healthy...and newsflash, there are other good teams in the SEC and in other conferences. We are not some juggernaut and never were...did people think we were going to dominate like against UT the first time and KU every game and on the road here on out and in the NCAA Tourney? Not how it works.

Well I'd say all the good graces we build up from beating the hell out of Kansas is gone now that we got beat by ****ing 15 in Knoxville.

What Kind of bullcrap effort was that? I knew when they hit that second 3 to go up 23 to 17 that the game was over. We barely even tried to guard the second three.

Garbage and you watch and see how far will we drop in that AP poll. Right now I'd say the number six but after they lose to Arkansas we'll probably be at number 10.

I lost a lot of faith in this team tonight. I have them at about 30% chance of beating Arkansas.

Tonight's effort ruined about two good months of basketball and a lot of good thoughts about the tournament.

Piss poor showing. Didnt even try really. Embarrassing from the point it was it 17-17 score.

Losing to those orange loving bastards pisses me off every time. Mouth running orange necks.... I HATE YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE STATE.
Lack of effort.....lack of coaching=predictable loss.

Execution and effort are two completely different things. We gave little effort in addition to not executing. I can take a loss because they happen. I don’t like seeing a lack of effort. You can put a cherry on that turd and eat it if you want to. Enjoy.

I’m glad someone said it. I’m 42. UK has been a nearly unbeatable juggernaut three times in my life: 1996, 2012, 2015. Many other teams in my lifetime were very good to great but also flawed in some way (1984, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2019).

Fans who expect to win EVERY game (or else!!!) in dominating fashion without taking into account roster makeup, game location, quality of opponent, injury status, etc. are the epitome of delusional. Most of our teams, even the really good ones, lose a handful of games every year. But, a portion of this fanbase turns every loss into the end of the GD world while failing to realize Kentucky isn’t the only school that plays basketball. Historically, we’ve lost 24 percent of the games we’ve played. You’d think that number was closer to 3 percent with the way some act after losses.

I agree. But this is like losing losing to UofL to some of the fans in the upper half of Kentucky. The crap talking has been awful down in the south half today.

Four losses will always hurt worse than others: UT, UofL, KU, Duke/Unc

I love when a fan, probably sitting in a recliner and sucking on some cheap ass beer, just "knows" there is a lack of effort. Did you take the players pulses? Monitor respiration? Did you hear some of them saying, 'Hey, I'm gonna lay back tonight'? Of course not! You have no damn idea what effort they gave. Absolutely none. The accusation is insulting to the team and players.

Apparently you are clueless. You must‘ve watched a completely different game than the rest of us. UT ran circles around us. They wanted it more. That’s called effort!

We have a better record historically in Allen Fieldhouse (8-5) than we do in Thompson-Boling (18-17). Plus, we beat Tennessee by 28 in Lexington, so they had the motivation factor going for them. Plus, Tennessee and Kansas are pretty equal this year. No big shocker to me that we lost in Knoxville. We've had better teams than this one lose down there.

On a somewhat related note, UNC just lost at home to an 11-16 Pitt team. And it wasn’t close. So that win was kind of fools gold too.

Also don’t forget that not only did we stomp Tenn in Rupp, but we blew them out at TBA last year and we were God awful. So they kind of had a double revenge factor going.

I look at it that Tennessee is not a good matchup. Quick guards, and a quick big. We shot out of our mind in Lexington but gave up almost 80 points. We shoot our normal % against them, we probably lose that one too.

last night, we weren’t smart with the ball, didn’t take good shots and UT adjusted defensively from the first matchup. Have to come back Saturday and we probably can’t drop more than one game or we’re going to start watching our seed line slip in the NCAA tourney. This next stretch of games is pivotal and we have to get healthy too.
This is one level headed take.

The deciding factor is shots have to go in. They didn't Tuesday. Brooks hasn't made a fg since the Kansas game it seems.
It will be tough for uk to win big games without Brooks being decent. Oscar can't do everything by himself

Cincinnati defense outplayed the Titans. You have to give credit to defense man

Sounds like a self description to me. Are you really that pathetic? At least drink a quality beer.

Why would I drink cheap beer when I have very expensive single malt scotch in reach?

Your response was spoken like a true armchair warrior. Drink up. Pond out back. Just right for you.

Seek mental health assistance before it’s too late. The sirens in your noggin surely must be going off.

Tennessee played out of their minds. That’s all it was.
Actually they didn’t. They played better in Rupp than they did in Knoxville. They shot 57% overall while shooting 47% from 3 a month ago. Had UK just played their average game they would have beat UT fairly easy.

No we weren’t. The worst is got was 65-45 with 6 minutes to play. The worst it got in the first half (when this game was lost) was 15 on 3 different occasions. The margin was never “nearly 30” at anytime.
Exactly. Yes, we got outplayed for all but the first 5 minutes....

But they never pulled their starters so 13 was the final difference and that is all that matters. We fought back in the meat of the game to cut it from 20 to 13...that wasn't due to a foot off the gas approach by UT.

13 without your most versatile offensive player, and forcing you to play bigger than you want against a quick, guard loaded team...is hardly curbstomped or the beat down it is being made out to be.

Ah. Moral victory in February. I like it.

We got our butts whipped. Plain and simple.

just like ky played out of their minds in Lexington. In fact, comparing the 2 games, you would have to say that ky played well above their abilities - I mean, @ 70 % from the floor! Whereas, UT played well at home and good enough to stay in most games at Lexington.
Comparing the games if UK was healthy we would stomp your ugly orange asses into the ground. I can’t wait until the SEC tournament.

It was a perfect storm for Tennessee and Murphys law for us. Shit happens. Hopefully this motivates this team. Yes people went bananas after we destroyed KU and acting like they should just go ahead and mail us the championship.

One bad game don't bother me. But we've got some tough opponents to play so we better get it together. TyTy needs to rest if he's that injured. I know I'm not giving up on them. I just hope we get a rubber match with Tennessee in the SEC TOURNAMENT and play Auburn for the SEC championship fully healthy.

It sucks cause it brings back memories of 2019 when Reid got injured and missed multiple games and then PJ got hurt so we didn't get him back until the sweet 16. We were playing better than anyone until the injuries started. Still made the elite 8 but should have won it all.

Yeah...I worry we sort of peaked and coming down to earth as a team (along with all the injuries). I wonder if the same occurred on the PJ/Herro/Keldon team...we were playing out of our minds in January and then all the injuries hit and we barely beat Wofford, got lucky to win vs. Houston and sucked in losing to Auburn in elite 8.

Feels like something like that is happening this year as well.
Lol glad you can read the future. This team can absolutely win it all. Just go root for another team.

Or did we play out of our minds at Kansas?
The great thing about NCAA basketball... everyone's got new life in March... and the best team is left at the end.
