Uk has 8 titles the football has 1 1951. Cal was trying to get a facility that recognes the programs great history. He wasnt putting football down , but we are known throughout country as a basketball, the sec want hardly recognize our football which I think will have a great year. This is nonsense and hurting the program . if u are football fan but recognize the great success of basketball. Cal has won 8 titles , Stoops none and it is much harder to win title in basketball. U have to win 6 games in a short peroid without much time between games. Stoops is doing,great but he hasnt come close to a title. uk basketball is always in top 10 football under Stoops has never been in top10. I am a fane of both but some people are just unreasonable , history is history that is why we keep it!

1. So we've won a ton more in cheerleading titles than basketball.....so are we going to listen to petty BS from those coaches/fans?
2. We have a facility for men basketball in 2009....they share it with nobody else. 8 rims, film room, swanky locker room, training facility to lift/rehab, etc...what is the big need from whinny ass Cal? We had a leak...patch it and move on.

Not the point. No one puts down our history. It’s the egomaniac that has to put down another program with not as much success to get something he wants. Could have done it a lot of other ways without making Mark Stoops job harder and causing needless animosity.

Cal started this shit taking unnecessary pot shots at a rising football program, I can hardly think of anything more juvenile he could have done. Then I come on here and read fans defending cal asking football fans not to be upset. Dafuq outta here with that, calipari had no reason at all to mention the football team other than jealousy and insecurity. I could write three paragraphs worth of bullshit that’s happened with the basketball team in the last few years but it wouldn’t matter to the cal does no wrong crowd, they’d gloss right over it and make fun of the football program for not being as good as Alabama. The point is that he can make his argument for a new facility for basketball without dragging the UK football program through the mud, giving our rivals recruiting tools against us and being a complete narcissist in the process.
Besides that, UK football is on an upward trajectory compared to UK basketball, generates enough income to more than accommodate it's request for a new facility and is in much higher need of a dedicated facility than UK basketball.
I love both programs but to think that Cal didn't cause all of this is either being ignorant of the situation or a fan of one program over the other.
Cal is expecting to roll this year, he wants to get attention focus on the BB program. But throwing Stoops and the football team under the bus wasn't the way to go about it. Don't be shocked if one leaves after his season if Mitch can't do something to put out the fire from this little incident.
Hope you are wrong Grumpy - but I have to say it is a possibility! I also think has but additional pressure on himself to win a National title this year- that could make for a bad situation if we don't make at least the final four!

I am trying to "Be Reasonable," but.....
Cal publicly s#it all over his counterpart HC in FB--for no good reason. Football.....the sport that brings in the lion's share of revenue. FB is finding some success, and Cal is the most insecure individual who has no reason to be.
His most recent official act is losing to 15th seed St Peter's, and he has the temerity to sideswipe the Kentucky FB team? Recently, Cal has lacked drive and discipline in everything he does....recruiting, retention, game-planning, post season performance, and this week - running his yap.
Cal got a dose back from Stoops basically saying--"I ain't taking crap from you!" and I love it. I would be well satisfied if those two head coaches would take it to the mat room because it might kill two birds with one stone.
As far as I am concerned, Cal should have gotten his leash snapped when he said the NBA draft was the “biggest moment in the history of Kentucky basketball.” Get with the program Cal....you know....the program and the athletic department at the school that pays YOU!

Didn’t throw the football program under the bus. Just said UK has been more successful over the years in basketball. He wants an upgraded or new practice facility. Stoops wants an upgraded or new practice facility. Two coaches who generated the funds for all UK sports programs are wanting more money in the facilities arms race for recruiting and practice purposes. No big deal. Both coaches have great contracts and are on the same page.

I love Football and Basketball, bottom line Cal should have not brought up football at all. He could have talked about recruiting and the Bahamas all day long with out mentioning football at all.

I don't want to be right, I like UK, like Stoops. Kirby and Stoops are the only old school d guys as head coaches in the SEC. I know this is a UK board and dont want to be negative, but being honest it was a dick move by Cal and by CMS's comment he didn't appreciate it. Cal show total disregard for what Stoops had done. Cal seeing his team, which looked awesome, wanted to let everyone know he had wants too, I think he believes he has a real good shot this year.
Stoops on the other hand has a tougher road, Crackolina is once again showing why they are most delusional fanbase in the country by predicting 11-1 and to have the best receiving core in college football. WTF? They caim Bowers is average TE and wouldn't ser the field at Crackolina. They be lucky to go 6-6. But UT and that fast pace offense will be a problem for all of us. As for us, best offense we may have ever had, someone said we return 3 starter on Oand D. We return 4 on the OL, both starting WR, Pickens only played in 2 games and 6 of 7 top receivers. On other side we return 5 that started NC game, we may not repeat, but I think we in the discussion the last weekend. If UGA had not fired Richt, UK would be the team everyone was targeting.

Cal has foot in mouth disease. He didn't need to say what he said and especially publicly. Nothing good will come of it. He's already on the hot seat because he hasn't done squat since 2015 and couldn't win it then either. He's become an embarrassment to Kentucky basketball. It's really sad because he seems to have a good team this year but will be overshadowed by his ego and ignorant mouth.
