Hooray for basketball season. Somehow Vandy is still playing meaningful games in football but I’ve already made the transition to hoops.

Looking at the SEC, it appears this may be the strongest the conference has been in years.

Auburn
Bama
Florida
UTjr
Kentucky
Texas
A&M
Ole Miss
Miss St.
Arky

All of the above teams can get after it.

LSU
Oklahome
South Carolina
Mizzou
Georgia

All of the above can be dangerous at home.

Then there is Vandy who was picked 16th out of 16 teams. I don’t really know what happens this year, but I’d be pretty shocked if this team ended up in 16th place this season. Mark Byington appears to be the real deal and the Dores are fun to watch.

How many SEC teams can make the NCAA Tournament? I’d have to think conference realignment is going to make things difficult on the committee this year. I think we could get as many as 11 teams in the Dance.

Great win over Duke the other night, Cats. I watched and loved it. Pope is the real deal. Looking forward to some battles later this season!

I think we for sure get 8 with several other bubble teams in the mix. Could potentially be a 10 or 11 bid league while other conferences, like the ACC, could get three or four.

yeah, if you asked the average sports fan, "Did you know Bama & Auburn are ranked in the top 5?"

they would be thinking, "Man, the Iron Bowl this year is gonna be crazy!"

Crazy to think there are 2 SEC teams in the top 5, and neither are UK

It always seems like the SEC winner has a favorable away schedule as far as playing the best teams. I looked at the exact upper list of teams you picked and this was the breakdown.

SEC away games against the top 10 rated teams:

Bama -7
Tenn -6
Forida -6
UK, Ark, Miss, Miss Ste, Texas, Auburn, A&M -5

I think Alabama is the best team but this will make it tougher on them to win the conference. I am glad UK only has 5 such games. Auburn seems to always get a favorable schedule, which I think has helped them win the conference in the past. They do have to come to Lex and UK doesn't go to Auburn. I agree the conference looks to be very deep and any of those top tier teams could lose to the second tier on the road. If UK can win the home games, they will have a chance to be a contender.

I'm rather impressed with all the high-level scorers we have thus far, only 2 of which I was expecting:

Tre Johnson (Texas) - 25.3
Jalon Moore (Oklahoma) - 22.5
Josh Hubbard (Miss St) - 21.3
Camryn Carter (LSU) - 21.0
Collin Murray-Boyles (South Carolina) - 20.3
Mark Sears (Alabama) - 18.0
Devin McGlockton (Vandy) - 18.7
Asa Newell (Georgia) - 17.7
