And in the “no sh!t Sherlock,” category, we have no less than Barry Switzer proclaiming that playing in the SEC for Oklahoma “will be like playing Texas every f@&king week.”

We’ve come full circle!

I worked a job in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1987. Folks there could not believe my insistence that there were 5 or 6 SEC programs at Oklahoma and Nebraska’s (then) level, historically. I told anyone who would listen that the SEC would dominate any playoff scenario.

Now they all want to join the SEC, but . . . .

Every one with half a brain knows the SEC is by far the very best Conf. in America... Why else has so many playoff's been won by the SEC teams??? It's like a murders row here and the death star is in full force knocking out the pretender's....
Now mast fans who watch college FB can see what all us SEC fan's have known for decades...

Someone needs to be held accountable for Auburn in 2004. Prison time would suffice in my opinion. I’m not letting that go.

Switzer understands how beat up a team gets playing great competition week in and week out. Both Texas and Oklahoma will find out about the grind sooner than later. He used the Texas analogy because he's seen the out come of that game, now multiply that by 8 or 9 games. How long will it take them to adjust?

I don’t know if it is an adjustment or just an acceptance of the world as it is.

I have not looked up the scores of Oklahoma’s playoff appearances, but several were beat downs. Maybe they will have to adjust to seeing one or two of those during the regular season.

Two years, ago, arguing that U of L’s D-line recruiting was too light, I looked up all the play off teams, and only Oklahoma lacked a 300 pound defensive lineman.

They might have to refocus on defense and the running game to compete well in the SEC.

Other than the UGA game, they were all double digit losses I believe in the playoff for OU. Lsu beat them by like 100 a few years ago.

Makes you wonder if OK fans as a whole are excited about entering the best football conference or are more apprehensive about it and would rather have stayed where they are at? Unless you have been in it forever I don't see how you could totally understand the difficulty in just being competitive in this league.

From what I have seen a lot of Oklahoma fans aren't real excited, and feel they are being dragged along by Texas, who really want this so they can overshadow A&M

I think Switzer was referring to how beat up they were after playing a team like Texas. When they come into the SEC they better have a deep squad becsuse they will have 8 or 9 games just as tough or tougher. Injuries play such a major roll especially in the SEC, so major depth at each position is a must, just look at Bama & Georgia.

I've thought for yrs if UK was in another conference our football would be looked at in a brighter light. The SEC is just damn tough

Gotta be very unhappy about having to play defense now In the SEC.

Not enough to have great starters on both sides of the ball. If you are going to do much you better have a second team that is great also. How many injuries to starters do we average every year? Seems like around 10 guys go down off and on and a couple year ending on average?

Barry Switzer is 85 yrs old..He probably thinks Brian Bosworth still plays for the Sooners..
Wonder how many people know Bosworth is now the police chief of Fansville in the Dr. Pepper commercials...

Why the Barry hate? He’s stating the obvious. It’s going to be much more difficult for Oklahoma to win a national championship now. Chasing the dollars won’t appease the rank and file fan.

Lol you ain't never winning a ****ing thing in the sec Oklahoma. You better go ahead and start accepting that now your days are over if you leave that conference. You might reach a South Carolina or Missouri level.....maybe

I also think if power 5 only played power 5 (all power 5 rosters would become better across the board). You would no longer have a Vandy or Kansas that is way under a Bama or Penn State. More teams playing major games = better talent staying closer to home. Not as much hording of players to keep them say off another teams roster. Kentucky I would say would be 15% better in talent (more 5 and 4 stars). Vandy more 4 stars and such. I think after a couple of years adjusting for teams like Kentucky or South Carolina would really see a ramp up of talent. Teams like bama and UGA might see some smaller numbers of 5 star players. Would be a great fall time of year.
