Maddening. He'll make an unbelievably great play (KO return, punt return, reverse big play) followed by a big drop of a ball right on his number, a reception where he tries to reverse the field and fake everyone out only to lose 5 yards doing so, fail to fight for position and/or the ball on some plays.

He's fun and frustrating to watch as you really never know if he's gonna take it to the house or drop the easy first down pass that would keep the sticks moving.

So glad he's in blue but, man, I'm hoping he matures into a consistent stud WR sooner rather than later.

Haha, then he matures soon & is gone early to the NFL draft after 2024. Part of dealing with talented kids!
I’d rather him reach his ceiling while here. A lot of good NFL players. We don’t get much pub for skill positions first round so we may keep him till senior year anyway . Inconsistency will follow him in the draft too.

Agreed he is very talented but isn’t the most dependable Wr. Free lances routes still which kills a Qb who throw to spots. Quits on balls

Barion for sure needs to mature….and coach Woody needs to coach his unit up a good bit more. Last year and this year his Wr room has been a group that has diva issues, won’t block well and some drop issues at times. Maybe needs to try less to be fun old Coach Woody and more of a well run unit

The most knowledgeable football person I know is starting to question the lack of improvement from our wide receivers.

Barion Brown is 19 years old, 166 pounds, and will be a superstar.
The potential is definitely there. IMO, he's still very much a work in progress. Needs improvement in route running, blocking, body positioning on 50/50 balls, decision making re: taking a couple of more yards vs reverse field and try for the home run, etc.

He's got the tools. Will he work his ass off to be his absolute best? We'll see.

I'll give him true Fr year to be raw and adjust to college....but he had a full year and Woodward needs to push his group to remove many problems from year 1 to year 2. IN 2 games, Barion is still lacking with consistent hands/catching the ball. Maybe Barion will never be a guy with good hands and more a big play guy is his future. BUt to still be jogging routes and not fighting back for balls is nowhere appropriate....and yet good ole Coach Woody runs him out there....keeps his hat on backwards and high fiving like he is one of his buddies. I'd at least expect a coach to be in somebody rear end for half assing a route going into his 2nd year in the program.

Kid has amazing talent and tries to make things happen every time he touches the ball. Two KO returns in just 13 games and numerous others that made big yards. PR that impacted Saturdays game. He is special. UK has not had many like him. Most teams have not had many like him. He wants to be great and is still learning. He, Key, and Robinson (add AB to this group soon) could be a WR grouping similar to what Brooks had with Burton, Stevie Johnson, and Lyons (Tamme too, because we have some talented TEs that need more looks). I look forward to watching him get even better.

BB is an electrifying player.

For him to make the next step requires more work than he has put in so far.

He must get bigger and stronger. That is a huge issue going forward. There are no 166 pound players in the NFL. He lacks the mental discipline to run his routes full out when he’s not the main target. Gotta put in the work to reap the big dollars.

Clock is ticking….

He has two games under his belt as a true soph after dealing with a soft tissue injury during fall camp. I am looking forward all he does at UK.

He’s an elite athlete that isn’t a good receiver yet….played qb in hs as a running qb. He has a lot of potential but these type guys aren’t a given that they fully realize the potential. That doesn’t mean he can’t be utilized or productive in other ways. He definitely needs to get more weight and stronger hands if he can. We always think of Bowden fondly because of him stepping in that last season and producing at qb the way he did. While not as fast as Brown, he was much the same his career as receiver. Flashes of what could be but often frustrating with route running, quitting on routes, finishing plays downfield, etc.

628 yards receiving as a true frosh (record at UK). Dane Key had 519. I think we have 2 good ones that will continue to grow into the position.

Barion needs to get bigger, but the avg WR NFL weight is just under 200 lbs. Turpin, Thompkins, Atwell, M Brown, Washington, Harty, Dell, Austin, D Davis, and DeVonta Smith all weighed 170 or less.

If he can get to 175lbs and keep his speed, the NFL combine will make him money.
That requires work in the off season (as well as maintenance)

It does not appear that he is any bigger or stronger than last season?

He is a lean kid. He said he gained strength. That would be known in the weight room, not by looking at him in pads.

I for one don’t believe things kids say

He is too small to get where he wants to go.
Can be a great player for us but if NFL the goal, he’s gotta get bigger.

Key is the same way. Gotta put in the work

I don’t think 175 to 180 is a lot to ask. Especially a kid that’s just a sophomore.
