Hey people Im friends with recruits and players former and current to get info like this. Ive never sent any of them a damn thing or bothered them at all!! Simmons isn't a one and done no matter where he goes (outside of wildly outperforming expectations or leaving too early). 17's class is forward heavy. He if were to come in and stick around after Fox and Monk go pro he could be 17's starting PG.

Kobi wants to be here that is fact. So to not dismiss that would be crazy. UNLESS Cal has told him there is no way he will take them then it could mean I will keep dreaming because Cal doesn't want me because we know Kobi wants us.
Did you know NBADRAFT.net has Kobi going as a lotto pick after 1 year? I think he is 2 year player but to act like there is zero chance he is one and done is silly. Kid is an insane player. Not top 5 pick insane like Monk or Fox but he is better then say a player like Briscoe or andrew Harrison , both who I love. Also Alkins might like us but Cal has paid no attention to him for a reason .
Of course you would. You are a Kentucky fan. But why is Simmons waiting till spring? This board says Simmons is waiting because Calipari asked him to wait. That might be a part of it, who knows? What we know for sure is that Simmons is waiting because he wasn't ready to announce in November. That means he wasn't sold on his options this month. By waiting, Simmons will grow his list of options. Realistically, Simmons isn't coming to Kentucky unless he plans to stay for 2 years. If he is willing to do that, then Kentucky may become a good option for him. Next season, he would sit behind Fox and Monk, and struggle to beat Matthews for backup playing time. By April, he will know if Ulis or Briscoe will be back, but I'm not sure how much that will help him strictly in terms of 2016-17. Devin Booker got to the lottery as a OAD without ever starting at Kentucky, but Booker was 1 of the most dangerous perimeter scorers and transition scorers I have seen at Kentucky. Simmons is a good player, but lacks that 1 elite skill that gets players drafted so high. From your viewpoint and mine, it would be great if Simmons picks Kentucky. But that will not be an easy choice for him.
I would have to believe that Coach Cal was truthful with Simmons and is bound to have told him that he was recruiting both Monk and Fox and that he expected to sign each of them. Since that would mean two top notch guards would already be here, Simmons must want to be at UK very badly and thus is waiting to see if not only a scholarship is available but do Ulis and Briscoe both turn pro. It would appear to me that given the constraints, getting Simmons would have to be considered a long shot. But if he really wants to be here.... who knows?
That's 1 possible interpretation. All we know for sure is that Simmons is still uncommitted after the November signing period. The rest is just conjecture.
I don't look at nbadraft.net. From what I've read that site is garbage. And I didn't say he had zero chance of being one and done. I said he could wildly outperform expectations or leave too early. But those expectations are that he's in school for more than one year, regardless of where he goes.
I'm not sure how you think he's better than Briscoe. It's hard to find a mock draft that doesn't have him going first round this year. And Andrew Harrison, coming out of HS, was much more heralded than Simmons. The fact that he underperformed is another argument entirely but then again so could Simmons.
I honestly think adding Kobi Simmons would be a great move for this coming year and even better for the next. He likely wouldn't be one and done and with the 2017 PG class being slim pickings could move over and take the reigns after Fox and Monk go pro. I really would like this move.

Cal thinks Briscoe is really good. Didn't ask him to hold off on committing.
If i had to choose, i would choose Briscoe coming back as a SO over Simmons as a freshman every single time and i'm pretty sure most on this forum would also make the same choice. Briscoe is a talent and Cal loves this kid. When Cal really likes a kid, it is for a good reason. We have not seen the best of Briscoe yet and he's already playing better than most expected. If Simmons wants to come to Kentucky, he better hope Briscoe is a OnenDone. If we add Simmons, great. If not, with the current roster we have set for next season, i really don't think it matters. Simmons would help more his SO year at Kentucky than next season. Too much talent in front of Simmons to make the impact he will be aiming for on next year's roster. Fox and Monk is a made for tv backcourt and to take one of their spots, you would have to be something special and i'm doubting Simmons would be that type of talent in his freshman year of college basketball.

Simmons would provide good backup depth his freshman year behind Fox and Monk and then in a weak PG class for 2017 he would provide a Sophomore veteran and step in nicely to lead the team. I say it's a no brainer under those circumstances.

I agree that I'd take a sophomore Briscoe, but I don't see anyway he's not OAD. I've thought from the beginning that he'd go after this season no matter what his stock is. He's just got the swag of someone that thinks they're already in the league and a game to back it up.
I could really see Cal trying to sell Simmons on coming in next year as a complimentary piece on a really special team, and then it being his team his second year ala Ulis. We shall see if it plays out like that.

I think the Simmon's camp totally botched Kobi's recruitment. Had they accepted UK's offer last spring, he would now be a Cat & Fox may have looked elsewhere
The combination of Simmon's poor play this past summer & Fox's blowing up, caused Cal to rethink the PG situation. Simmon's Dad's ego & love of the recruiting process, caused him to misjudge Kobi's importance to UK.

The 76ers are on pace to be historically bad and they start three guys who were picked in the top ten of the draft and were all college stars. The other two guys you might be able to take minutes from. But that's the worst team in the NBA. They aren't taking you in the draft. They're taking the best player in college.
