You lose a game, you go behind everyone else in the top 10 who is still undefeated. This is how they always stay up in playoff territory because it takes two losses to get them out.

They should be behind Ole Miss and the other nine undefeated teams. This Bama team should have three losses. They got away with a pass interference that would’ve put TAMU a yard away from victory. Needed a last second field goal to beat Texas.

I know many on here are big Bama worshippers but they’re the Duke of college football in terms of special treatment.

I disagree that there is a smaller school in the top 25. It’s not in a power conference

1. I agree Bama should drop below Ole Miss....but they're going to get to play them so that game will determine who is ahead of who....and we all know in our bones Bama is going to win Ole Miss game.
2. I'm not in agreement to drop them below TCU or UCLA....they lost by 3 on road to TN. Plus I still think a 1 loss Bama will be worthy ahead of TCU or UCLA.
3. As it plays out...Mich/Ohio St will knock one out and the other stays in playoff.
4. UGA, TN will more than likely knock one out....and then it boils down to if they lose to Bama in SEC championship game...you could have 3 1 loss SEC teams....I suppose the SEC champ is obvious 1 to get in play off.
5. then you'll have Ohio St/Michigan for a 2nd playoff spot.
6. Then you'll have stupid Clemson in pitiful ACC....but if they are undefeated...what can you do but let them in.
7. So the 4th spot will boil down to potentially 1 loss UGA or TN..if they're only loss is SEC champ game or TCU or UCLA if they run the slate.

I'm tired of the same ole foursome....but until we get Clemson out of ACC.....it's going to happen again and again.

Tennessee won't get in with 2 losses.

Michigan looks to be legit. If OSU and Michigan play and both are undefeated, the loser with one loss my still make the playoff if it is a close game. Or, Penn State sucks.

Kinda like how UK basketball is always ranked preseason top 5 and when is the last time we finished in the top 5? Brand matters.

It’s Alabama. That’s it. Nothing else needs to be said about it

So you believe OM would beat AL? I don't & would thus rank AL ahead of OM. For that matter, I don't believe TN would beat AL.

If we’re going to rank the teams realistically based on what they have accomplished to this point in the season I think you have to rank them thusly:

1. UGA
2. UT
3. Michigan
4. Ohio State
5. Ole Miss
6. Clemson
7. Bama

Brand power is great for Bama and playoff ratings
Brand power helps but they're still ranked about where they should be. There's not any teams below that that are better. They have issues this year but still have some players and Heisman QB, and they could have easily won Saturday if not for a few crazy plays (punt debacle the big one). And that was against a really good UT squad on the road in a big time hostile environement, so lets give them credit.

That is the top seven, but all but Clemson play each other, so it will sort out.

Just like last year, I am pulling for new blood, UCLA and TCU (or maybe USC or Okie State sneak back in by running the table)

If I am a pollster, who believes that UT should be #1 or #2, slotting in Alabama anywhere from 3-5 makes perfect sense.

Honestly, I have no issues with Alabama being as high as #4 at this point.

If there is a such thing as a good loss this is the definition of it. There are probably only 2-3 teams that would not have been blow out in that atmosphere. Except for the fact UK needs to get healthy I wish they played them at noon Saturday. UT has to be mentally exhausted after last Saturday.

I don't really agree that when a team loses they should go behind everyone else in the top 10 who is still undefeated. The rankings should be based on who they think are the best teams. Just because a team loses doesn't mean they are worse than the teams below them that are still undefeated. I'm not necessarily talking about Alabama, just the general idea you presented of how it should work.

Well those nine undefeated better stay undefeated.
Alabama's been doing this every year for 15 years straight.
If you're going to lose you lose in the first six.
Then you let the other team screw their self!!!!!

Here's looking at you Mississippi. One of you bastards always ALWAYS opens the door for Alabama.
WE'LL SEE YOU SUNDAY Kiffin....... lololol.
Mark it down they losing 💯💯💯🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔✍️

Rankings should be based on how good a team is vs all other teams. Records are of some value in determining how good a team is but they should only be a small factor. Who really thinks Tn is better than Bama. or that Ole Miss is better than KY

The only reason these teams are placed where they are in the first place is human bias.

The entire ranking system is so stupid as there's no way to prove any of this in college football as we never have a true playoff.

I'm just tired of seeing Bama get to lose a game and never have to worry about being left out like other one-loss teams have in the past.

Well, considering TAMU and Texas both had Bama beat but got some favorable whistles, yeah, I don't think they're special this year.

The way I see it, the question is whether there are 6 teams better than AL right now. I think "no" and that is the reason for AL's ranking. I think AL lost on the road to a team ranked in the top 8 by 3 points. AL shouldn't retain #1 but are certainly in the top 6.

What is all this fuss about O-Bama Cat arguing against his own team, Bama?

Wonder what Willy thinks?
That's definitely the Tennessee volunteers after next Saturday. They will quit if they lose to Kentucky. We have a chance to shrink their fan base LOL.
And quite honestly if you took a poll the fans of the SEC on who they want to win Kentucky versus Tennessee....... Tennessee might get one vote from Kiffin lmao!
SEC hates you. Tennessee ain't nothing but some low down snitches.

That's because when AL loses a game, it is still one of the best 4 or 5 teams in the country at the end of the year. I can't think of a time when the final 4 was selected and AL was included that I though AL was undeserving when compared to the available options.

Bama has to worry just like every other team with an L on their record, but if they finish the season as a one-loss SEC champ...they're in....just like UGA or UT this year.

No human bias as it relates to the SEC. They've won 12 of the last 16 NCs spread across 5 schools.

In the playoff structure, SEC teams have beaten OSU, Clemson, Oregon, Michigan, Cincinnati, OU, Notre Dame, Washington, and Michigan State....in some cases multiple times.

So if Alabama wins out they shouldn't be in?

If the answer is they shouldn't be in you don't know football. If the answer is yes of course they are in then your whole argument is silly.

The only real ranking that matters isn't even out yet. If alabama finishes with 1 loss with the schedule they play of course they deserve to be in. Same with UK if we had beat SC and then won out. The SEC champ is always getting in, even with 1 loss.

No SEC team is out with 1 loss. The issue is none of the other SEC teams can consistently finish the regular season with 1 loss.

Osu is never out with 1 early loss and same goes for the big 10. SEC and big 10 get respect and can afford a loss.

What other one loss team should've gotten in the playoffs instead of Alabama?

Alabama will still play in the playoffs and highly likely they win it. Argue if you want but that staff is now on a mission, players too.

They weren't on one after losing the NC last year? They are lucky not to be 4-3 right now and would be if not for calls going their way all year. Yes they are a good team, but not near the lever of Bama teams in the past.

This.^^^^^^^

Committee has to keep Bama close to top four because they will likely still be SEC champions (again) and get that " guaranteed " bid to the playoff.

I am surprised they fell to 6th. Of course, the first "real" playoff rankings are still 3 weeks away.

Bama has got two national titles despite not even winning their own division. That should never have been allowed to happen. Bama getting a rematch vs LSU is the entire reason we finally got a playoff.
