Bama Drops 100 on Illinois

For real? I know Nelson tore it up in the first half.
Not only did Sears not score, he didn’t play for probably the last 10-12 minutes. Some of that could have just been riding the hot hand because they got big games out of Philon, Holloway, and Wrightsell at the guard positions. Oats also suggested after the game that Sears may be pressing a bit right now trying to carry the heightened expectations and needed some time to clear his head.

His play would definitely support that theory, because he’s been nowhere near the guy we saw last year so far, shooting only 40% from the field and 29% from three after putting up 51/44 splits last year.

Those open 3s we've been allowing will burn us that game.
I was impressed with their size, length, and athleticism. AND, they can hit the 3.

We will have to outscore them, but they have some stoppers on D also. Trusting Pope to figure this one out. We need to at least win one of two with Bama.

I think we likely lose both, I think teams that play similarly to our style will be our hardest teams to beat.

Evidently Sears told coach that it wasn't his night to ride with the other guys when he went to put him in.

Cal said that depending on the 3 was fools gold. I guess the way to make it real gold is to have enough guns that can carry one or two shooters who go cold. We have that. Sounds like Alabama has that too (sears not scoring). But we have some old Guard Dogs who can guard the three. maybe that gives us the edge.

Only watched the last 15 minutes and they are also very quick- they ran the pick-n-roll a lot with their guards getting in the paint with the defender on their back and them passing it back out- I think we beat them at least once if not twice- depends on who shoots the ball better- their outside conference schedule is brutal

[eyeroll] So with this comment you are assuming that maybe the team we played was not a good 3 point shooting team that possibly the plan was to sag off of them a little... AND AND the best part is even if that was not the game plan that UK won't/can't get better at guarding the 3 point play and and one more thing maybe the offense UK runs makes the defense constantly move which COULD I don't know wear out the other team where their legs are tired and therefore can't shoot threes .... I don't know just spit ballin here.

Use your eyes man, sagging off is one thing, leaving guys WIDE open is NO coaches game plan lol.

Didn't watch the game but saw the Philon kid gave Purdue all kinds of problems. Was a PG in HS but looked mighty comfortable at the 2 playing alongside Sears. Dude was herky jerky with good handles and a nice stroke. He's going to be tough to guard.

Purdue beat Alabama. ... easily.
I'm not worried about that sorry ass team. They don't scare me nor shall they ever.
Can't wait to put a thumping on their head and put things right.

Philon was a monster last night. 16 points on 7/13 shooting, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists to only 1 turnover. His outside shot still needs some work, but he’s very difficult to keep out of the paint and mostly makes good decisions whether to finish or drop a pass to the open man as the defense collapses once he gets there. He may be their most impressive player so far in 5 games.

That’s crazy they still dropped a 100 getting no production from him.
