Ball over Fox per ESPN

From what little I have seen, Ball seems to be a better passer, Fox seems to be a better scorer and defender.

Ball is on the best team in the country, makes sense that analyst would switch. All star game circut will be fun watching them battle it out.

Ball's team plays such a unique style that I'm still not sure how he will translate to a more normal style at UCLA and beyond. Dude's got a funky looking shot. Makes MKG look like Curry.

He and his brother both have really funky ️form. His team consist of him and two of his brothers and they are really fun to watch. I'm not sure how good he is compared to fox at the next level but he will be a very high level point guard at UCLA. I'm not sure he will be a superstar though, but I haven't watched a whole lot of him.

This + he is also playing with his brother, and since they know each other so well it makes things they do look easier

Ball is really good and he's going to be a very good college and NBA player.. BUT. Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox are better than him and IMO. Its not that close. Ball should be ranked around 7th or 8th. I'd go with this as my top 10.

Josh Jackson
Jayson Tatum
Malik Monk
Harry Giles
De'Aaron Fox
Bam Adebayo
Lonzo Ball
Miles Bridges
Rawel Alkins
Markell Fultz

Then there's abour 12 other guys who are top 10 caliber players IMO. Its just an insanely deep class. Guys like Frank Jackson, Terrence Ferguson, Jonathan Isaac, Wenyen Gabriel, Marques Bolden, Mustapha Herron, Josh Langford, etc

UCLA also has another top 10 kid. Leaf kid. He played like a Wiltjer/Laetner type when I watched him play. I'm impressed Alford got them both

Fox is coming into to his own as a scorer.

How many times has Cal said a kid was capable of going off for 30 points during his freshman year? He's already made that declaration about Fox.

This kid is going to be dynamic. Lonzo Ball is a great talent, but Fox has the type of athleticism to become a max contract player in the league.

Ball is a MUCH better all around player. Watched his team play down here in the city of palms classic. great passer, unlimited range, and a smart player. by far my favorite player in this class. for sure one and done

"Much better?" How so? It's one thing to assess the kid you've seen play, but have you seen enough of Fox to make such a statement?

"Unlimited range"?

He may throw in some bombs with that bizarro shot of his, but he did not shoot well in Adidas AAU competition, and any time I've seen him play, his jumpshot often looks like he's attempting to break the rim.

Ball is a tremendous prospect, because he's a 6'5"-6'6" guy with premium athletic ability and legitimate PG skills, but to count on him to hit 3's strikes me as a fool's game.

Fox isn't a great jumpshooter either, but he's got a much, much, much better foundation with that than Ball.

So Ball at his absolute best is like a Magic Johnson. And Fox at his absolute best is like a Russell Westbrook. Both are great options for next year but I think Fox is the better fit because he considered the best perimeter defender in the entire class. On paper our roster next year has the potential to be a dominant defensive team with our athleticism and reach. 6'3-6'4 PG, 6'4 SG and 6'10 SF on the perimeter alone.

Ball is very similar to another PG that UCLA recently had, Kyle Anderson. His upside and game is better than Andersons but they both were very good passers and rebounders (mainly due to size) than other PGs. Both lacked in the shooting department.

Ball has a good team around him and fox doesn't

I watched Fox play along side other capable scorers and also amongst the top players on the Nike squad and he passed brilliantly. Passes look differently when it results in an assist compared to when it results in a brick

Anderson always seemed really slow to me..

That is a funky shot he's got. I can see where he may have some problems with it against top competition and taller/quicker guards defending him than you have in H.S. Kind of brings it up from about waist level on his left side and goes up and over with it. His free throw form is the about the same only not as low. But, with passing skills, handling the ball, and if he's good as a defender (mix tapes hardly ever show that side of the game) he could still be a very, very good PG.

The kid can shoot but as has been mentioned his release level MAY turn out to be a problem. He is not now playing against the kind of defenses he will see every night at the college level and sometimes poor technique can be the downfall of a player no matter how much talent he may appear to have.

Ball Great passer good scorer average defender Fox good passer good scorer great defender Head to head Assists are dependent on second party defending is one on one Fox slows Ball down more Slight edge to Fox in my ranking

IMO Dennis Smith and Fox are both better by alot then Ball. His shot will hurt him in the bigger leagues and the way he is used to playing as well. Ball is a top 15 player for sure but the 4 super elite guards are Monk ( the best player in the class IMO ) , Fox , Smith and Jackson . Ball is with Fultz in the 2nd tier ( which is still better then any guard last year) .
