Ball Family and Lil' Dicky (Mods, it's his stage name, don't ban me)

.. for what reason? Dude's extremely talented..

Man, well.. they ain't all road tested. Guess I woofed on this one.

I don't like joke rap. There are so many talented rappers who take it seriously that don't get recognized.

Had no idea that was actually a rapper and not some SNL actor. You know you've got an effed up family when they appear more normal in a spoof sketch than they do in real life. That actually was a joke right? Reality/Theatre is a tough call when it comes to the Balls.

Some of his songs are not joke rap. Listen to Russell Westbrook on a Farm. Even as someone who really dislikes what my friends and I call "mumble rap", it flows really well and the message it tells is pretty powerful. Its a good 8 minutes and starts out a little slow but the last 4 minutes are dope if you enjoy rap at all especially one which has a message other than the typical gangster crap you hear repeated in every garbage rap song

His Album, Professional Rapper, has several serious songs. Truman Show, Molly, Oh Well..

Still.. I don't get what's wrong with Joke rap, if it's done well. And Dicky's is arguably the BEST has ever been. The dude is a better rapper than half the field, as is.. and his ability to write, and also write in a joking manner, sets him apart.

Russell Westbrook on a Farm is lyrically and mentally one of the best rap songs I've ever heard. It's genius.

Idk listened to a bit of it. it's not bad just boring if anything. No one will be talking about Lil Dicky soon enough just like no one talks about Macklemore now. Gimmick rappers will never last. It's just frat rap, we saw the same exact rapper 7-8 years ago, his name was Asher Roth and nobody cares about him now. Some other clown ass rapper will come along and take his place and rappers like Kendrick Lamar will still be dropping classics.

I understand your original argument because it isn't everyone's cup of tea. But Asher Roth isn't on the vicinity of Lil Dicky. Like him or not, he is extremely talented from a creativity and flow standpoint. Asher was a one college hit wonder and Macklemore had made a living of catchy hooks set to catchy beats or talking about hot topic politics.
