Bad Takes You Have Had

I was very young (8th grade), so forgive me, but I thought there was no way that Wes Unseld wasn't coming to Kentucky.
I was really disappointed by it. Can you imagine what the program would've been like had he paved the way for others ??

Also, like others here, I thought Eddie Sutton would kill it here and was very excited to hear him say he would "crawl to Lexington for the Kentucky job."

GO CATS !!

That slim Arvydas Sabonis was going to make people forget about Kareem.

-Dwayne Wade wasn't going to be a very good pro.

-LaMelo Ball would be a bust

-Kenny Payne would do well at UL.

-Scott Drew was a guaranteed hire

-Mark Pope would be an awful hire. (So far so good)

Also, I remember when I first saw the iPod and I remember telling people it was too expensive and it'd never take off.

I remember when Dakotah Euton announced for UK....I called my dad and we were talking about how BCG was going to win big by signing guys like Euton

Billy Clyde and Eddie Sutton are the reasons I was iffy about Pope succeeding.
He's looking very promising so far. Everyone can't coach at UK.

Same with UK FB. Stoops has struggled a couple of seasons, but there is a long list of horrible coaches at UK FB.

Worst take. Georgetown game in NCAA tourney. I was in a house with about 50/50 UK to GTOWN fans. Was loving the first half. I stayed, I ate crow, that was not on here but that is my worst take on UK Basketball. 2nd would be 1975 Championship game. Halftime- thought we would run away with it. Did not realize the wizard told his team at half he was retiring. Wow.

I'm embarrassed to say again but at the time I thought the Calipari contract extension in 2019 was going to bring UK at least 2 more championships and make him the next Coach K. Instead it caused him to become complacent and lay down on the job.
I didn't.

I did think in 2012 that he would have four titles by 2020.

Cudos for naming the right company. It’s amazing how many people think it was Fedx.
Fun fact. It was the lawsuit after that put Emory out of business I believe. The courts didn’t believe there was any evidence to believe it ever happened. , but the NCAA did.

Has to be Gillispie for me.
I blame it on the Lexington Herald. I was working out of town with no access to TV or the internet. But the Herald had a tremendous section about him. Had me hook, line, & sinker. Can't believe anything you read.

I recall purchasing and actually wearing a “Billy Clyde is here and the Bluegrass State is ready to rock!” shirt (or some ridiculous quote like that).

I still get waves of embarrassment 17 years later.

I thought Cal would win at least 2, and probably 3 titles here. He was the best coach in college basketball for at least 11 or 12 years. Just look at the end of his Memphis run, and his first 6 years at Kentucky. 3 title games, 5 final-4's, elite-8's like they were candy. Dude got old, became a victim of low T, and didn't adapt to the game when it modernized.
