Ayton cuts list with UK, KU, and Zona as top 3

How many top 10 bigs has Kansas landed out of high school compared to Kentucky?

How many top 30-100 bigs who had no chance at playing in the NBA have gone on from KU to earn a paycheck in the NBA?

Doesn't matter. As a big looking to go to the NBA u look at success and who is making it happen. Diallo prob averages a double double at UK last season. Seen him in Summer league kid can play he is physical aggressive and athletic. Skal got twice the min and every opportunity and he still went in the first round. Diallo and Alexander were first rounders if they had been cats.

Agree that perception is reality, since every kid in high school thinks they're the next Kevin Durant or Anthony Davis and don't realize that they aren't. I've watched Diallo in summer league and he looks just as lost as he did at KU. The minutes he gets too are scrub minutes where they are just running out the clock and not playing any defense and that's when he looks like an all-star.

Not sure that list is accurate. Black and Aldrich are still in the NBA. Also, the twins are doing quite well given they weren't highly rated coming out of high school (believe they were in the 40-70 range).
Oh, well adding those two make all the difference in the world!

So, you're basically saying your coach is a terrible recruiter?

I believe he is behind on schoolwork, but claims that with summer school, the NCAA has told him that he is on track to being eligible. I can't remember where I read that. I think that the school he goes to offers only online courses and isn't really known for caring much about academics.

No, I think you're right. I read an article where he told that to the media person that was interviewing him.

It's one of the few bad things you take with Calipari, among all the good: Scrutiny. The more UK is involved with DeAndre Ayton, the more the NCAA will pry. In the past, I usually rather stay away from these kids. Calipari can get the next best guy, and we won;t have to worry about year-long distractions or even a post-season sanction (the type of sanction that UNC/Duke wouldn't have if THEY got Ayton)..

But it's been 7 years now, with the brightest search-lights on Kentucky, and zero issues have come out. Not one. Cal is doing it the right way, Bell is as well. So I'm fine to take a chance with Ayton. He seems like the real deal.

Zero issues....is that why Enes Kanter was declared ineligible?

Kansas lock

Sincerely,

Kansas fans

Well - like you all pointed out - fits the profile of many of KU's bigger name recruits in recent seasons. Also, being from the Bahamas, Ole Miss transfer, Dwight Coleby - would then be a Sr. in DeAndre's OAD season.

i think it is possible and would be great to land both Ayton and Bamba
we are going to need at least 2 maybe 3 top players at the 4/5 positions next year
if Ayton commits to Zona then we know he is going overseas [winking]

Huh...why would uK need 2-3 top players at the 4/5 positions next year.

I think most would think that Kilyea-Jones, Humphries & Wynyard would be back....and at least a Sophomore Kilyea-Jones & a Junior Humphries will actually be high quality players by that point. 2 I could see, but I don't think they need 3.

I question the accuracy of the top list....where the heck is Tarik Black?!?!?! They show him on the historical list below that list but he was on the Lakers last year and even got an extension this offseason!!! And I'm sure that's one of several examples. I.e., where the heck is Cole Aldrich?!?!?! I know he started at C for a while when DeAndre Jordan was out for the Clippers and actually did quite well. He was a wanted man and signed on to joint the T'wolves this offseason.

How many bigs. That were drafted high and have great contracts that play so Embiid doesn't count. We got Cousins. Noel. Ad. WCS.Lyles. Towns. Randle. Jones and Patterson. All first rounders since 2010. Why would a big go to Kansas. It's not about just making it. It's about making it to where u have to survive for more than a couple seasons.

Arthur, Withey, Aldrich, Embiid & Thomas Robinson...all have decent contracts & play - all drafted in the 1st Rd. and yes, I would count Embiid since he's the 3rd overall pick and back! Julian Wright may have proven to be a bust but was still drafted top 8.

Tarik Black may not have even been drafted but has stuck for the Lakers.

I thought this quote was rather entertaining....When does the list end?

"there's just too much smoke here for UK to go all-in on him the way KU will with guys like Josh Selby, Ben McLemore, Jamari Traylor, Cheick Diallo, Cliff Alexander, Josh Jackson and other recruits with eligibility concerns."
ChokeHawks are a MESS.

Here you go, this one may be a bit more accurate.

I can't deal with the influx of Kansas and Duke dumb asses right now. Serious little brother syndrome lately..

Someone else will have to take on the good fight.. not that it's particularly difficult lol

Where am I "being a dumba$$". I'm not even rippin' UK....simply supporting KU in the instances where they're being ripped erroneously (such as site showing 11 players in the NBA as opposed to 18).

Because you're talking out your ass about the Kanter situation, and I simply don't have the time or desire to dive into it, because quite frankly, I don't give a shit what you think about Kentucky, not to mention you wouldn't believe it regardless. You'd continue on thinking Cal is dirty,, blah blah blah.. Kanter is ineligible, blah blah blah.

But by all means.. keep comparing your yearly player eligibility issues to our one-off situation that the NCAA had it in for us..[thumb2]

Ayton will be at Arizona or UK IMO.

Ayton is a monster. He and Bamba will probably go 1 & 2 in the draft. If he's looking eligibile, I hope Cal goes hard. He and Bamba are very different players anyway and could very well coexist. So I don't think having him would scare off Bamba.

Agree with almost everything you said, but Bamba is a Duke lock, Roy and Cal need to forget him.

A month ago I would have agreed with you but apparently Bamba is kinda excited about Cal calling him the "next Anthony Davis". Some analysts say Kentucky may actually be ahead.

Everyone had red flags? Then why did Calipari offer Selby, Diallo and Alexander? (Don't think he offered Jackson, because I believe Jackson's mom did not like Kentucky?) Did they have red flags or are you making this up?

We offered Alexander really early. I think he was the 2nd 2014 kid we offered after Okafor. By the time his recruitment was coming to an end we had stopped recruiting him all together. He mentions in a couple of interviews while he's still being recruited that he hadn't heard from UK in a while. There were a lot of rumors floating around about Alexander's grades or some sort of schedenfraude going on with his high school team. (They were eventually disqualified from the state tourney). It's possible though Cal just liked Trey Lyles better. And who could blame him. Alexander was a center in a power forwards body.

Same thing happened with Selby. Who says in an interview 2 months before he committed to Kansas that we had stopped recruiting him(Cal wanted Knight first and foremost and it was pretty obvious).

I think Cal knew Diallo would play. Plus did you see our front court this past season? He was desperate IMO and Diallo at the time appeared to be worth the risk. Zimmerman had already committed to UNLV before we really went all in on Diallo anyways.

I think he thought Kanter would play too.

Cal will take a chance on a kid with red flags if he's desperate. Did it with Kanter(knew we'd be losing a lot), did it with Skal(same situation), as well as Diallo.

Maybe Bledsoe too though I think he knew he had Wall. I think he just really liked Bledsoe and his family and wanted to give the kid a chance(plus he was really good).

Ayton might be a good gamble. With SKJ, Hump, and Wynyard, if we get him and he is ineligible, the cupboard is not bare. If he is eligible we have the best player in the country and we are stacked inside.

I'd rather have Bamba, because there are no eligibility questions with him.

i think 1 or 2 of them are UL fans acting like Duke and KU fans
the one that mentioned Siva and Russ gave himself away

Which ever team signs Green will get Bamba, they are very close.
Why? They are a lock for Carter. That is the number 2 ranked players in the class. Bolden isn't a one and done and Jeter will be back. That is 3 5 star big guys back for Duke next year. Jeter might play some 4 but Carter and Bolden are fives like Bamba. He goes to Duke he may not even start and could start off the season third on the debt chart.
