Since Cal took the job UK has:
- averaged a #1 recruiting class
- averaged an elite eight appearance in the NCAA, depending on how you treat the non-appearance in 2013 you may say we have averaged a final four appearance.
- averaged 1-2 in the SEC
- Zero criminal arrests
- 2.75-3.00 team GPA
- No major recruiting violations

BUT he has also:
- averaged over 6 losses overall, and up to 12
- averaged over 3 losses in SEC play, and 6 losses three times.

So far this is about an average season. It sucks when we lose, but I am fine with the average of the last few years and the coaching/recruiting philosophy that gives us this average.

Good post.

We just don't like losing, period. People do forget (so do I) that the 2010-11 team that ended up in the Final Four lost a bunch of games on the road in the SEC. That team lost at Georgia, at Alabama, at Ole Miss, at Florida, at Vandy, and at Arkansas. That team lost 9 games on the season. They lost at Arkansas on February 23 in 2OT and then won 10 in a row to end the season in the Final Four.

Now, I'm not saying that will be the result this season, but it could be. As I said in another thread earlier, Calipari's teams usually peak near the first of March, just in time for the tournament. If our guys can bring the same effort and intensity they brought in the game at Alabama, at Arkansas, and the Vandy game, they will turn this corner. I guess we'll see.

You could also say that the 2013 season started similar to this one too. In the end, the lack of a dominating big left us in the NIT.

Also had 2 undefeated SEC seasons and one 2 loss conference record.

3 first place finishes and 3 second place finishes in 6 tries.

NCAA tournament record the last few years is tops as well I believe...?

Yeah, you could say that. I need to look it up, but there are similarities to the 2013 team. The big difference in that season is that right about now, the Florida game, we had a season ending injury to our best player.

This team lacks a dominant post presence, but that 2013 team didn't have the guard play that this one has. Assuming everyone remains healthy, this team is clearly better.
