Auburn's Broome nothing serious

When we play them we need to go after the ankle, slid a foot under his jumper and take our chances
Ha! Well it is the SEC, so the refs might not call it.

I think he will be out a while still. Those bad sprains can be quite painful and he won’t want to re-injure again quickly. They can be fickle.
I agree with you 100%. There is no way for ankle to be turned like that by someone his size and not be serious. Just because it doesn't require surgery, doesn't mean it isn't serious.

Not really the correct statement…..Anyone who saw that ankle roll knows this is still “very serious” for Broome and Auburn. Sometimes a slight break and surgery can be easier to heal from than a sprain as severe as this one appeared to be. I’d bet he’s out a minimum of 3-4 weeks and even when he comes back, he won’t be nearly the same players he’s been this year. That ankle is going to be tender, weak and an issue for him the rest of this year.

Gonna be a tough week without him. (If he's out this week) Miss State and then at Georgia.
Seems like every teams schedule is gonna be brutal honestly, Arkansas seems to have gotten a relatively good draw overall at least upcoming. Everyone will have a stretch of 7-8 games that are brutal in this league.

For sure, sometimes they can be even worse because with surgery you have a general timeframe of being ready. With these it could last and last, be ok but still weak and get hurt again. Maybe it gets hurt worse. Ya never know. If it tore ligaments or something ugh.

Everytime I see an ankle turn I wince. I've sprained both ankles so many times playing ball back in the day. They still bother me if it's cold out. Good to read Broome doesn't need surgery.

I have bad ankles too. Same exact problem.

.. well except mine were from drunken spills on icy sidewalks over the course of sophomore year in college. But we can just say it was from basketball..

I know! I had some bad ankle sprains just from playing different games as a kid like little league, football, kickball, tennis I tried everything. Once you sprain the same ankle a couple times it isn’t quite right for a long while. It hurts like hell too.

Yeah, just saw who we have next Saturday. They will put us going undefeated at Rupp to the test.

Those low topped shoes just look like trouble to me and I am shocked not more of that foot rolling than is, as much space as these guys take up under the basket. Hope he fully recovers Auburn has a great team.

Dude is a baller. Hope he's ok.

But we've all seen this before. Now a backup will get even more experience while Broome heals up. Even if it's a minimal gain, this will just make Auburn better. Ugh.

If it required an MRI and not surgery, I’m betting it was grade 2. What people fail to understand is fractures recover better than severe sprains without surgery. As ligaments elongate they become more prone to rolling, even if over training supporting muscles.

It’s why a fracture or break can be better than a grade 3 sprain.

Broome with recovery and return to conditioning, I’m calling 4-6 weeks, with 6 being likely. Just my opinion from the field.

We’ll know in the next week when it comes up, Pearl will provide an update that shines a light on the outset.
