Auburn v Alabama

Oates can coach ! ! ! You think it was just fortuitous that Mark Sears got the ball on the right side of the floor with two screeners set up to his left ? I don't. As one of the commentators said with about 5 seconds on the clock .. you can't let Marks Sears to to his left !
IMHO, great end-of-game coaching by Oates!

Also shows a failure by Pearl and the Auburn players to make sure and take that away.

I agree but Pearl surely could have countered. Two good coaches and two really good teams. Brutal SEC.

This is why Pope is not in COY consideration. Pearl and Oats are just the two best coaches in America right now. They've had amazing seasons in the toughest conference. We've done well, but they've just done better.

On to the SECT.

And it's Oats. Why do people keep putting an E in it?

That was a final four type game and Bruce came up short again. Alabama losing on thier floor to Florida earlier in the week then beat Auburn the overall 1. We're the hell do you seed these SEC TEAMS NEXT SUNDAY?

Most common spelling. I am sure it was Oates in England, Some 'merican could not spell dropped the E.

Oh and Warren sez

Warren Oates was born and reared in Depoy, a tiny rural community in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, located just a few miles west of Greenville, the county seat. According to the federal census of 1940, he was the younger of two sons born to Sarah Alice (née Mercer) and Bayless Earle Oates, who owned a general store.[1][2][3] His brother, Gordon, was five years his senior.[

It's just silly at this point. The dude has been coaching at Bama since 2019. And people wanted him here at one point. It's not like it's a hard name to spell.

Yep, sears said the play was drawn up by Oates. Pretty smart to let the phenom bring up it, and maybe that gets the defense thinking that the kid who will play in the big league next year will shoot it, but he was a decoy and hands off to Sears and lets him drive left. Good Nate call.

I think auburn and Florida are clear 1s. Alabama and UT are 2s. UK is a 3. Maybe a and m is a 3?

Beyond that idk. Good luck committee.

Sounds exactly like the type of storyline the NCAA Committee would seek too

Just my cynicism talking of course 😟
Yeah the committee does a little bit of looking out for the top 4-6 teams as far as the first two rounds. If you’re outside of that they start looking for storylines. A few weeks ago Lunardi had UK matching up with St John’s and/or Arky in the first two rounds. Just brutal.

Alabama needed a win. They have faded a little down the stretch. They are 3 seed n sec tourney.

Their last 7 games were crazy:

-Auburn x2
-at Mizzou
-Kentucky
-MSU
-at UT
-UF

Their easiest game was against a top 30 kenpom team. They had 4 games against top 5 Kenpom teams and a road game against Mizzou. Crazy hard schedule to end the season.
