The biggest difference between UT and AU appears to be the condiments (pronounced “condom mints” at Auburn and “mustard” at Ewe Tee).
He's staying. Shocked so many smart CFB media thought he was gone.
1)no DC or OC to make interim
2)$18M buyout after giving Gus $20m last yr
No idea what is true and what isn't, but there seems to be a lot of talk that AU boosters who don't like Harsin made up rumors in order to get him fired. That is the word going around. The place is a mess, they have done more damage to their football program than UT did by turning themselves in for cheating. Harsin's family wanted out of Auburn before all this started, I can't imagine them liking anymore after this. How much effort will Harsin put into making them a winner? According to AU fans, they are at 67 scholarshipped players heading into spring practice, maybe they have already gone, but generally you can expect to lose several players between spring practice and fall practice. Will they have 60 scholarshipped players to start fall practice with? I think he was a bad hire and fit from the beginning, this fiasco has compounded that, if he hangs around a couple more years they may reach Vandy level. Then Yellerwood and stick that chest out.
Same thing that happened here in the first half of the 2016 season with Stoops. Had we not won that game against USC it would have gotten even uglier....No idea what is true and what isn't, but there seems to be a lot of talk that AU boosters who don't like Harsin made up rumors in order to get him fired.
The issue isn’t having a young girlfriend. The issue is putting her on the University payroll. To borrow from Chris rock: not saying he should've done it, but I understand.
Seriously though - if this was a relationship that started elsewhere and only continued at Auburn, I don't see the issue. If the relationship started at Auburn while he was her boss, then yes it makes sense.

Actually it's an issue if Harsin is having a relationship with someone who is a direct report to him, preexisting or not. It's an issue at practically any corporation in the country.Should be no issue if the relationship was preexisting and the person was qualified for the job.

Assuming other people would apply for that job and he was the person who determined she would be hired and he was hiding his relationship with her, it is a problem for an employee of a state institution. Also was a problem for Jeff Zucker.Only if the relationship developed after the hire/reporting structure. If the relationship preexisted, it isn't an issue.
It was a huge no-no at the company I retired from, preexisting or not.Only if the relationship developed after the hire/reporting structure. If the relationship preexisted, it isn't an issue.

I never said it was illegal, just against company rules, and they were dead serious about it. The problem was usually dealt with by a demotion or transfer to another department, or as in the last time I knew of it happening, the guy was transferred to a project in Maylasia for a couple of years.I said just above she was obviously qualified because she held the same spot before.
It definitely can be in an employee handbook. Different from being illegal. I suspect if it were in the university handbook, we'd known that day 1
Auburn has turned into a power struggle between top boosters with football coach caught in the middle. Some big time boosters supported Steele when they booted Gus. The other group of boosters prevented the Steele hire. There was power tension between boosters when Harsin was hired.
Most writers who cover AU don't think there's any truth behind the young female. She's attractive, and some boosters are looking for a reason for firing with cause.
Now ... Harsin hasn't done himself any favors with his personality. Many people say he needed to clean house and change the culture when he took the job. Now, the other side want to get rid of him for trying to change the culture and sweeping out some assistants and players.
I don't know how this can end well unless he has great upcoming year. He better hope he can find another Cam Newton to transfer in this summer! Not a dumpster fire yet, but they just dumped a lot of diesel fuel in the trash and have several boosters standing around it with matches!
The Rockies seem to produce or harbor a lot of unlikable characters in the game...Turned into a dumpster fire last half of 21 season. Players were jumping ship, coaches were openly looking for other jobs as soon as they could, taking big cuts to get out. Now strong hints of racism leaking out. I don't think he has an issue with race, I think he is one of those guys that rubs everyone the wrong way, maybe intentionally. Just doesn't seem like a likeable guy. AU is looking at being the Vandy of the west, they could easily go winless in conference this fall. Harsin will be let go if they can come up with the buyout.
they've got one of the best S & C programs in the NCAA. The S & C are up to your interpretation lolThis is spot on. Took a cute chunker from Boise State, got rid of the baby fat, and turned her into a 10.
If I'm Harsin, I have my lawyers negotiate a nice buyout, pay the ex-wife enough to go away forever, and ride off into the sunset with the side piece.
Agree, but I would not say "someone powerful". Rather, by all accounts, it was a cluster of powerful Auburn boosters. But in the end, after investigating, when they couldn't find "fireable" offenses, the admin there had no choice but to bring him back for this season. They couldn't risk firing him without cause and then get pulled into an ugly public lawsuit that they'd likely lose if they would have tried NOT paying him his buyout. And as far as the buyout, Auburn just is not in a position financially where they can pay someone a monster buyout after just one season as their coach. Pretty easy to see here how it played out.I don't believe any of this crap, the sports media is just as dishonest as the national media. Another attempt to attack a guy that didn't want to take a vaccine that was rushed through and addled with side effects. That's what this amounts to. It's all disinformation. Someone powerful just doesn't like Brian Harsin is what it amounts to, whether it be the media or the crooked auburn boosters. I remember similar stuff happening to Stoops hmmmm..... regardless, winning cures all, if Auburn has a good year the next couple of years we will never hear a peep about this and if there actually was infidelity, 5 years later him and his wife will come public with their divorce.
Interesting if you listen to Manning talk about the difference between UK and AU.T

The “other hires” better be lighting it up in the win column…. Notwithstanding his previous ethical challenges, Pearl is likely pretty safe with the new administration. Harsin, OTOH is pretty much a dead man walking in terms of job security.Just like UL, Harsin is destined to be fired no matter what, even with good season or positive fan support and good recruiting
Why, because both will be hiring new presidents, new ADs. And new administrations always want to hire their guys. They don't want want to be judged by other people's hires.
I was being a smarta$$ as I was referring to the transformation the staffer made that came with the coach from Boise. LolInteresting if you listen to Manning talk about the difference between UK and AU.
Each employment situation is different. As someone mentioned above it just depends on what the employment handbooks or contracts say. Same with Zucker, who knows why he was really fired. It apparently wasn't for having a relationship with a subordinate. Many employees came out after that and said the relationship was no secret around the office. They claimed it was because he didn't disclose it in some deposition or investigation into something unrelated. Maybe it was just a way to get rid of him like AU was attempting. The ratings there have tanked.Assuming other people would apply for that job and he was the person who determined she would be hired and he was hiding his relationship with her, it is a problem for an employee of a state institution. Well, we know Zucker was assisting Cuomo with sound bites and advice. That should be enough to fire someone who claims to be in the business of journalism, but giving his girlfriend raises and promotions and lying about the relationship for years could also be a good reason. Since the girlfriend still has a job and also assisted Cuomo, we have to suspect he was fired for the improper relationship. Each employment situation is different. Yes. I'm no Zucker fan, I just saw a lot of the things after the fact where everybody knew and CNN specifically said it was for not disclosing it as opposed to just for having the relationship.Well, we know Zucker was assisting Cuomo with sound bites and advice. Dating a coworker over whom you have no supervisory or professional influence is far different than years of professionally advancing your paramour over other candidates. The latter reeks of a quid pro quo and is unethical to the other candidates. I assume CNN would have made sure he could not do the latter had he revealed the relationship. But he continued to advance her career, because they ostensibly hid and lied about their relationship. Arguing later that she was credentialed for every advancement she received has no merit.Yes. Our enemies take great care to cultivate distrust in our 5th pillar. It seems it has worked on you. You can overcome their efforts with a little introspection and discernment.I don't believe any of this crap, the sports media is just as dishonest as the national media.
