Guess I missed the part where it rained in Lexington yesterday... Somehow I stayed completely dry all day wearing shorts and a tee.

I've never seen 60,000 show up for a basketball game. THings are changing!!! GBB!
You haven't went to one of the games in a dome then. There were over 70,000 when we won the championship in 2012, and most of them were wearing blue.

So you're bragging about a less then capacity crowd? That's changing? How so?

UK bball could get 60,000 fans to any game against a top 25 opponent easily.

The upper corner seats suck you are so far removed from the action. Have sat up there once, I won't do it again, don't care who we are playing. Rather sit at home with a great view.

Feel the same about BB too. To each their own but why anyone would pay FF ticket money for a seat you can barely see the court.......I just don't get it.

The collective experience of attending an event in person is unmatched. The shared emotions of a big win or even a frustrating loss can't be duplicated by staying at home in front of that big TV.
On the other hand when I am writing my check for the tickets, I wonder can I really afford this? When I leave my house, only an hour away, 4-5 hours before game time, I wish I could see or at least follow the other big games before, during, or after our game. Am I ready to sit on an aluminum bench in the elements: be it heat, sun, rain, cold or snow?
So I get it. To each his own. Maybe you like watching by yourself with the remote in hand so you can rewatch any play adnaseum then skip the commercials. Maybe you want to watch with your pod of family and friends at someone's house or a local watering hole. Maybe you would like to attend but you don't have the money, live too far, or have other commitments. But if you do want to come, it appears we still have some room left.

During the 77-78 school year, UK had its best ever Football team and had the #1 rated preseason bball team. We all know that ranking was deserved as they went on to win the nc. At the time, I was 50-50 bball and Football....loved both. I clearly recall that during Football season, there was very little discussion about bball. The writers at the "hurled" couldn't write enough about Curci's team. That year proved to me that if Ky puts a high quality Football team on the field, Ky fans will care every bit as much (if not more) about Football as bball.
I think this is very true. However, until we develop some consistency in winning, crowds will remain inconsistent. I doubt the "if not more" but I think the "every bit as much" is certainly obtainable.

Football to me is something to watch until basketball starts up. I like it, but I don't love it. I think what makes me care for basketball more is that the action is going on for like 95% (just throwing a number out there) of the time you are watching. While football seems like there is maybe 25% action going on and so much dead time. Which is especially bad when you get a 4 hour game.

I would enjoy football more if they could do more to speed up the action. I think I have a little bit of ADHD in me and lose interest a little if I am not entertained constantly. The no huddle hurry up offenses help with that some. I just hate watching games where coaches take nearly all of the play clock each play. I understand if it is late in the game and you are trying to maintain a lead to do it.

I would like it better if they did like college basketball and shorten the play/shot clock even more to add even more plays to the game. They could drop it down to like a running 30 second play clock instead of the 40 second one. If players try to hold up play after tackles then give then a delay of game penalty. I just think football would be even better if they could speed it up and get it under 3 hours a game.

I guess you also missed the forecast the night before and the day of. Lame as hell response. If that's the best you got, I would put down the keyboard and stay on the porch. :chairshot:

Ky, Just curious (respectfully)....did you play football? Did they have it in your high school? Were you raised in eastern Ky?....in a large city? When I lived in e ky, I coached a little football and struggled to get kids interested. Once they got on they field, 9 times out of 10, they liked Football as much as bball.
Like many other things, it's just a matter of one person likes one sport, another likes another sport. No one sport is any more important in the scheme of things than any other. Unlike you, watching a college bball....or any bball game for that matter is something I don't normally enjoy doing. Part of it has to do with the fact that any team that's half decent makes the tournament now so the regular season means nothing. Whereas, I love watching any two teams play college football at any time. For me there is no better 3 weeks in all of sports than bowl season. Again, to each his own.

When March rolls around, I do get interested in bball and pull hard for the Cats.

Respectfully,

I was born in Louisville and went to Moore High School. Neither our football or basketball were great. I think our best year in football was like 6-5 and we lost to Trinity in the first round of the playoffs back when Trinity went undefeated for a number of years. Our basketball usually won district but lost around the regional finals. We went to state once.

I didn't play sports in school and only played baseball in Little League. No one in my household really watched football. Everyone watched college basketball though. I guess that is where I got my love for college basketball. I also played basketball on my squadron team in the Air Force. If football could speed up the game like I mentioned, I might start to love it.
