Is focusing on the wrong things again.

What should be the main story leading to the Final Four is the 20+ years of academic fraud of the North Carolina athletic dept., and why in the hell they're even eligible to be playing this weekend.

That should be story 1. 2. 3.

Story 4. 5. 6. should be the reasons Kentucky fans, announcers, and coaches are so upset with Higgins.

They should be talking about all of the fake calls, non calls, etc...that went against the Wildcats, and if they're was an attempt by Higgins,(and the other two loser refs) to fix the game in North Carolina's favor.

But as usual, the media focusing on the wrong thing.

NO about they should be talking about the bad calls in our game. That's ridiculous. It was a close game, yes there were some very bad calls, but we had our chance still to win and at that point the calls didn't happen, a last second shot did. However, the scandal should be mentioned because if the NCAA was actually a legit organization practicing their rules uniformly, than the strong possibility would exist that UNC would have past championships removed along with some wins. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen but the scandal should be mentioned.

No one cares about UNC's academic crap outside rival fans. National media isn't going to talk about it unless there is some new big info about it they think the national audience will watch.

Stewart Mandel from Fox Sports/SI had a great piece on the academic fraud scandal at UNC. Other than that, crickets.

North Carolina might be the most fortunate team in this Final Four

After all, nothing would mitigate the potential sting of looming sanctions better than a national championship.

And besides, North Carolina AD Bubba Cunningham would have you believe that the NCAA, not his school, is the bad guy in all of this. Last month he lamented to CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd that the organization “overcharged” UNC and is essentially exerting judicial overreach.

“Is this academic fraud? Yes, it is by a normal person’s standards,” he said. “But by the NCAA definition [it is not].”

It’s the kind of line that would make you chuckle if it wasn’t so infuriating.

Ultimately, though, it might be UNC that gets the last laugh.
