Arkansas fans coming around

I didn't remember/know Nolan did that. That team that lost to UAB was one of my favs, Fitch, Daniels, Hayes, they had no superstar but they played team ball better than any other UK team. Went undefeated in the SEC.
There are three coaches we all know and have admitted they literally "HATE" Kentucky.

Bob Knight
Mike Anderson
Nolan Richardson

(maybe Jerry Stackhouse, but not 100% sure)

At least all of the rest of the historic coaches respected us. But those three? It was never a secret how much they hated (and still hate, for the two still alive) Kentucky.

That may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard another coach do.
As much as I love Tubby. I’m STILL trying to figure out whether it was dumber that he let Nolan Richardson watch that practice or dumber that he ran our whole offense in Elite Eight v Marquette through Keith Bogans who couldn’t jump or run and could barely even shuffle wearing a huge boot with a major high ankle sprain.

It's 4D Chess from UK athletics. After the astounding success of embedding Agent Payne in Louisville, Operation Wally World was planned to take down an in-conference rival. Agent Calipari, in conjunction with Agent Payne, are executing to near perfection. Good luck boys. Godspeed.

Here is another gem on why people didn’t come to the game.

PM

Big fat this. They are flat out awful to watch.

Team sucks that what happened. I've been watching some CBB this season. I'm not sure there is an SEC team we can beat. Maybe South Carolina or LSU.

When you have a player call a timeout because he knows something needs to change you have a problem. We have a bad coaching staff that has no clue what to do when we can't out talent teams. Teams with smart mature guards will hurt us all year.
Announcer last night: “It’s just like it’s just a practice in here in terms of noise level from the stands.”

Dang! I forgot about that. Man that UAB loss still stings when I think about it. We were a juggernaut that season. It was one of the best TEAMS I've seen here. GREAT passing and it was beautiful to watch.

And it was the second NCAA early exit at their hands -- I remember them knocking us out in the early 80s too -- maybe right before or after MTSU got us?

2-3 years max.

Cal is burnt out and he isn’t interested in changing to the modern era.

There’s cycles in everything. The game evolved right into Cal’s wheelhouse for about 15ish years. Recruiting, playing/starting freshman, NBA rule, AAU/all star circuits blowing up all happened about the same. Iso, Tasmanian devil/bull in a China shop me ball, hybrid/positionless athletes…

To his credit he owned it. A lot of programs didn’t want to do all that. He did.

The game is changing again.

Same goes for football. See Saban. He can’t hoard talent, he’s not interested.

Pro game flowed right into Bill B’s lap along with the GOAT…then it ebbed right out.

NBA is changing too.

It's all about the pomp and circumstance and just hope and pray the results come. With each game it's looking like a dumpster fire and I'm all here for it. Cal lost his way after that 2015 season. That genie is never getting back in that bottle. Different times now.
It takes a lot of energy and effort to do all the things Cal tries to keep up with and win games. The guy has way too much on his plate. He's trying to be everyone's caretaker, trying to be a boss, trying to be a public figure, trying to cater to all these current players, future recruits and ALL of their handlers. That's hard to do if you're 35 years old, that guy doesn't have near enough energy to be the guy he's trying to be and he's not even trying anymore.

I kinda feel bad for some of the Arkansas fans. They aren’t happy and they didn’t want him but they haven’t realized this is the best it gets, this is his revenge tour and after this year it’s back to normal business. I feel even worse for is Tyler U. I fully understand Pope not wanting him on staff but damn I feel bad Tyler had to follow Cal.

Sounds like some Arkansas fans are smarter than some posters on this board. There were several last season still defending him, and they had years to figure it out, not half a season.
I'm amazed at how many, so called, "UK fans" thought Cal was UK and UK wouldn't survive without Cal. It's like, dude, look around, everyone else is winning and they're doing it at schools that have no pedigree, get a clue.

I get most of those fans are young and never experienced the 90's with Pitino and maybe they don't even bother to check our past.

I'd like to see what Demarcus Cousins has to say now. He had plenty to say when Cal left for Arkansas.

Not sure Arky will be his last job. May be his last P2 gig.

See Pitino.

There will always be a market for HOF title winning coaches.

Could see him taking a gig to set Brad up. Maybe go reunite with his buddy Peavy.

May make his rounds as an advisor like K.

TV obviously makes a lot of sense. He likes to talk. Him and Greenburg could yuck it up about old times.

It may be some of you guys copping mechanism, but what got our own shit we need to clean up in our house rather than worry about Arkansas fans and Cal. Guess what, Cal is losing games, it is not exactly peaches and cream here. UK loses at Miss. State, we would be 2-3 the last 5. Eventually the losses will overtake the good wins. Especially when we lose by DD's and win by a few. But keep making Arkansas / Cal threads, maybe it will make YOU feel better.

I don't understand what Arkansas brass and fans thought they were getting. If they just looked at Cal's last 5 years at UK, they should have known he was washed.
This would be like someone taking Denny Crum right at the end of his coaching career, yeah, he had some success in his younger years, but these guys don't just come alive and change just because they moved to a different town.
Easy trap to fall into. We once hired Bill Curry in a similar situation

They’ll beat Florida because it is a must-win game. Then Cal will turn around and get exposed by somebody like Lamont Paris.
You read my mind. Florida off a huge win against Tennessee, coming to a home game at Arkansas...prime opportunity for Cal and his "yes-men" to formulate a game plan to beat the Gators.

Then Arkansas fans get optimistic, and then lose to a lower tier SEC team that following week.

...sound familar?

And you know “swaggy Cal” will appear and talk down to the hog fan bennies for questioning his greatness. Then he’ll fall flat on his face next game.

The only way they are going to get better is to bench DJ.
He needs about 15-20 min a game backing up Davis and Fland.
I think we know the likelihood of that happening.
Fland also doesn't play winning basketball. Very immature "look at me" game. Now, a lot of that could likely be helped by the coaching - which isn't happening when the primary objective is to get him drafted rather than winning - but I'm thankful UK has Butler instead of Fland.

I’m just going to say that I’m extremely happy with their outcome so far this season. They have 2 really good guards coming in next year to play along DJ.

I'm thinking most of us can discuss the state of our current team and also talk about Cal continuing to get exposed, it's not thst hard.

Heck, some of us are als discusding things like UT getting destroyed by Florida and how good our womens team is.

Hell, I'm sure we can probably muster up enough energy to talk about the Los Angeles wild fires too.

Yeah, but UK football, espevially at that time, had little to no credentials in college football, so getting a guy like him might be a good move.

Arkansas is an accomplished program with 2 very recent Elite 8's.

Based on past occurrences what makes you think DJ will be back? 2 years is about the max amount of time Cal has with a 5 star

You can divert from our own issues however you like. But if you do talk about the wild fires, please post it in the Paddock, we have enough Cal and Arkansas threads and other BS to wade thru as it is. It is OK to talk about those other basketball related topics, I 100% agree, but 10 Cal threads on a UK message boards main page is a bit obsessive. It is almost like some of you are more concerned with Call failing, than UK winning. I do not see 10 UT or Florida threads on the first page, so I do not have a issue with those topics, but smart of you to try and deflect away from your obvious obsession with Cal / Arkansas.
