Arkansas fans are starting to see it now. Link to their message board.

We need to collectively send everyone in the state of Arkansas a Christmas card this year. Seriously, is anyone not supremely happy they took Cal off our hands? We should sympathize with them and express our appreciation. Otherwise we were stuck with him for who knows how long. He may have hung around for years after he moved on from coaching.

Agree! If Cal stayed this team wouldn't be unbeaten. We definitely lose vs. Duke and who knows, probably drop another one as well. This place would've been insufferable. I think attendance at Rupp would have nosedived. People had enough and weren't buying what he was selling anymore. The heat on Mitch would have been dialed up to 100, even moreso with the season Stoops had this year. I know I would have checked out.

But thank you Arkansas!

That's a given...he's having to beg arky fans to show up to the games already, and they've only had a couple of months to get tired of him not 5/6 years

I am so over calipari but you keep getting reminded daily from all these Arkansas threads will it ever end I would rather talk about something positive what about Kentucky and Mark pope

We really should send thank you cards to the chicken man. I would love to see his face and hear his comments after a big huge mailbag full of thank you cards from UK fans was plopped on his desk.

As far as all these Arkansas threads are concerned, I like them, I want to talk about it. We deserve to talk about it and we deserve to feel good about what's happening at Arkansas.

There are 300 other threads on the home page, I see the thread titles and I can clearly see which ones interest me and which ones don’t interest me. I click on the ones that interest me. The board is very well designed and easy to navigate.

No he wasn't. Read the actual reports from the NCAA on both cases. Cal wasn't going around arranging for Derrick Rose to take fake SATs. The NCAA already cleared him anyway before backtracking on it. If Cal was as guilty as you say he would have gotten a show cause just like Pearl did after he left Tennessee.

UK didn't recruit the vast majority of the talent Cal got here. Cal's history with getting players to the NBA did, that just coincided closely to when he arrived here. He was already known as the coach that got point guards in the NBA after a year with Rose and Evans, and Wall would have strengthened that reputation regardless of where Cal was coaching. If you think any of Wall, Bledsoe, Knight, Teague, or the Harrisons came here for UK and not Cal you're mistaken. Wall was already committed to Memphis and Bledsoe had ruled us out long before Cal was hired here.
Isnt it obvious now that the way it used to be was Nike and Adidas set that stuff up whether passing exams or giving out money. Coaches knew, of course they did but its plausible deniability . From the WAC all the way up to the Power conferences, there are no innocent coaches, they know the game behind the game and how it works or I guess during the pre NIL era they all know how it worked. I guess now the shady things would just be how to get a kid eligible and keep them eligible since players can get paid now out in the open.

It's a good point. Arkansas really inadvertently bailed us out. I'm not gonna thank them, because their intention was to "steal" what they thought was our golden goose.. but i am thankfully they botched this up, and allowed us to get out from under that lifetime contract.

Imagine how we'd look now, and the further infighting Cal would be doing with the fans and media. And we'd probably have to do it this year and next, just to be able to eat the payout. Those final 2 years with Cal would truly be a messy divorce (if it wasn't already).

I understand discussing Calipari. He was our “coach” for 15 years and it was kind of a nasty breakup. The new “girlfriend” came in when the season started talking about how much better they were for him and how he was gonna run us off the court, yada yada yada
It’s schadenfreud man. I don’t really blame anyone for saying “I told ya so”. It’s human nature.

I still think Calipari has a little bit in the tank; enough to buy him one more year with the Arkansas fans. Good for them

We have a better coach and our future looks bright.

By sending them thank you cards, we would be sarcastically thanking them for being incredibly stupid.
They are the Eskimo that purchased a very expensive snowball that constantly melts.

Yep, this was typical of the last 4 seasons under Calipari. People used to say Kentucky was more like an NBA farm team and I always tried to deny it. I was blind to it, perhaps by my own devotion to UK, and also the starry eyes from looking at all those 5-star recruits coming in. But there is no question, Calipari's players come in with NBA promises and they play with one eye on that prize. I'm sure they want to win, but do they have the passion we've seen from players like we've seen in many years from Arkansas? No. If they win, it's look at me. If they lose, it's not a big deal.

I saw a poster arguing about their freshmen not being lottery picks, and I hear a long ago echo of myself. I don't see those guys as lottery picks, either, but NBA teams don't draft on play on the court. They draft on potential and measurables. And Cal pushes them out because that's his pitch to the next class. If he has a bunch of guys stick around extra years, it ruins the gravy train. And these NBA executives know these guys will figure it out eventually. So, there are 2 or 3 who will leave even if the team is just average.
This is exactly why all the NBA posters in the practice facility needed to come down and be replaced with banners or photos of those guys in UK jerseys only.

The whole focus of their daily battle rhythm was NBA draft driven and not winning games. Practice was spent on individual workouts to try to improve draft stock and not the sum of the parts and team oriented. The hope was if everyone individually got better that the on court team results would just happen as a nice byproduct but it wasn’t the ultimate goal of the program or individuals associated with it.

Now Kentucky Basketball is the focal point of their day to day again and the NBA is the byproduct where if you preform here within the team concept you will still get NBA attention instead of vice-versa.

Went over and skimmed that thread. That moderator, Erie Hog or whatever, is a certified jackass. Constantly telling everyone they don’t understand basketball, they don’t understand Cal and his ways, they don’t understand the NBA etc. That dude is the violin player on the Titanic. He’s going to defend Cal regardless if Cal wins or not versus the University.

I will give their fanbase credit. A lot are catching on pretty quickly but to be fair, they didn’t get to experience 2010-2018 Cal. They got 2020-24 Cal it appears.

He can’t sell playing for Arkansas like he could Kentucky. I at least always felt like our players gave effort. Rob was a lotto pick and competed his ass off last year and looked pissed every time we lost.

And when i’ve watched Arkansas i’ve thought similar things to what that guy said. Other than Thiero, they just don’t appear to be playing with much fire or enthusiasm.

He can’t get guys hyped about playing for Arkansas like that. And maybe it’s because he can’t get hyped to coach at Arkansas. He knows he took a massive step down. Cal is an emotional dude. So i’m sure that’s effected his energy, which was already waning.
Because they still get a check with NIL whether they win or lose now. Most of Cal's years with us, the players worried about playing time if they played poorly.

I don't know what it is about Calipari that fools so many people into thinking he is some great basketball mind even though his results say different.

We had so many UK fans that were ready to quit being fans when Cal walked. They were mad at the BBN for pushing him out. These people somehow believed Cal was UK basketball, like he built UK and it would die without him. I will never understand these people and how they could be so gullible. Apparently they didn't live through the Joe B Hall, Sutton and Pitino years. Heck, just remembering those great Pitino teams and the 98 team, UK basketball was unreal back then and that's what we need to get back to.

Arkansas fans are intoxicated over what Cal did from 07-19 and they think Cal is going to do that same thing there, but there's some crazy process and he was just tired and overstressed his last 5 years at UK.

It's going to take a lot of those fools a long time… years, to understand just how mental Calipari is. By then, their program will be in ruins… .again.

7,000 views says most of the message board community here disagrees with you.

Calipari's a rival now. His arrival at Arkansas is one of the most intriguing story lines in college basketball this year. It's weird to me that a small minority of UK fans treat the subject matter like it's an off-color dirty joke being told at men's Bible study.

There's all kinds of college basketball talk on here. Not just all Kentucky. There's more basketball talk here than any other school's message boards I visit, so it was an absolute given that Cal would be talked about a lot. I don't mind it one bit.

We as fans tried to tell them but they would not believe us.
Don't know about everyone else on this board but I kept my mouth shut and prayed Arky took him off our hands. After that, it's all on them. Honestly, I bet Cal couldn't believe they offered to take him, but he will ride his horse until it dies and that horse is looking a little lame these days.
