hey don't we play them after EKU?

If so......well I hope our guys are ready; they're up 44-24 on Texas A&M, who is ranked 18th. It's 2nd half.

These guys aren't bad at all

... it will be total meltdown on here
As my 21 years on UK message boards have taught me, a meltdown is a guarantee. But those meltdown types need to realize that, despite the obvious talent, this is a team whose parts don't exactly fit together perfectly. They aren't physical, they don't shoot well, and obviously they'll need to grow up. Last year's team would easily beat this one. Cal has some work to do. A home loss or two wouldn't shock me.

We'll be okay against them. If the game were at Arizona State maybe I'd be worried.

We'll win by 12-15.

I think Arizona lost there last year.

They did. Arizona had a few surprising losses away from home last season (also at UNLV and Oregon State).

As far as tonight goes, it was a combination of very good ASU defense and awful Texas A&M offense. ASU will give it their all like you'd expect of a team coached by Bobby Hurley, but the Aggies are not nearly as bad offensively as they showed tonight. They couldn't have thrown it in the ocean for the first 24 minutes or so even had they been in the very middle of it on a boat.

I said it last year after we played Buffalo , when coach K leaves , I hope you guys hire Capel , Wojo or pretty much anybody except Hurley . His Buffalo team was one of the best coached teams I've seen roll into Rupp in years .

UK needs to be Arizona State or they will be 0-2 against the Pac 12 and 1-2 in December with a Louisville team that's better than both Pac 12 teams still to play.

It was just one of those games. ASU could do no wrong in the 1st half and A &M could not hit a layup to save their souls. It was a lot more competitive in the 2nd half. Having said that A & M had 10 fouls by the 14 or 15 minute mark of the 2nd half. Makes you wonder if being on the road in the PAC 10 is not a good place to be with the officiating.

Thanks to the OP for showing the proper RESPECT to a deserving opponent. Too many stupid they are ' Hot Garbage ' posts on this board. That is until Thursday night when the truth was revealed, that there is much work to do and lessons to be learned !

I knew ASU was actually a pretty good team - that was a good game to watch last night because we will face both teams that were playing. ASU is quick, they love the fast break; their hands are busy, they hustle, dive for loose balls, all that.
I'm not dismissing EKU by any means - hopefully that'll just be a confidence builder game - but, I think, our real test of if we learned anything from the UCLA loss will be against ASU.

Same for me. All of it.

It seems sometimes that a lot of UK fans basically think nothing exist west of say Kansas. They do play college basketball out here, rather well at times as we saw last week. I was glad to see two Pac teams on the schedule this year, and look forward to the UK/UCLA game next year. We're not going to forget that game just like they didn't forget last years.

good to see you posting
agree with you on all counts. I do believe this team will get there - but it will take time. This is actually a very normal, albeit talented, young team. We've gotten very spoiled the last few years, so there seems to be little patience when our team isn't obviously the front runner in all things. I readily admit I'm guilty of doing so myself.

I agree. In all honesty I think the game this Saturday will be close and a loss wouldn't surprise me at all.

Last year's team would easily beat this year's? That is "SHOCKING" news there man. Last year's team was one of the best UK teams in history despite the fluke Wisconsin loss at the end.

wow if we lose to ASU then the PAC10 will have beaten the SEC'S #1 and #3 team. Pac10 would have a case in saying the PAC12 is better than the SEC this year.

A&m may be good at some point but the coach and current players haven't been, they got work to do. Very similar to the ots regime, slow paced,3 yards and a cloud of dust coach,barf...

Teams are allowed to lose games you know...just ask the Cards they lost and you would think they are lock for finsl 4 listening to their and our fan base. We lose a game and anybody in SEC loses the whole conference sucks...unbelievable

we keep scheduling Hurley team because he will be our next coach when Cal retires.:flushed:

Hmm. That'd be at least intriguing. A Dukie as the head man at UK. I can't just dismiss that thought. He's not the kid we knew while he played. He's done what hopefully most of us do. Matured. Pretty clear though. Cal and he have become friends. It's what's behind some of the games he schedules.

Good to see you back, good post.

Of anybody with Duke ties, Hurley is my number one choice to be Duke's next coach (assuming he does well enough at ASU over the next few years). Unless Capel can prove he's learned from the past and can prove it at another school in a head coaching position, I personally want no part of him as the next Duke head coach after he was nothing at Oklahoma without Blake Griffin.

Been saying for several weeks that we could very easily lose to ASU. After the UCLA loss I wouldn't be surprised at all. ASU is solid and will probably be a NCAA Tourney team.
Someone said "we don't lose at Rupp".
So, if we lose that game then what does that say?

It's always interesting to watch the quick transition from "Can we go undefeated?" to "Can we beat any team with a pulse, even at home?" conversations that happen on this board after the first loss of the season.

Some things I've wondered about , isn't Capel listed as associate head coach ? If K retired wouldn't it be kind of a slap in the face for the associate coach to not take over ? Also do you think K would have major input into whoever is his successor ? Do you think K would recommend someone other than Capel or Wojo ? lol , do feel like you're being interrogated ?

I don't know much about Arizona st except they brought in 3 top 10 jucos and have two formidable players in Savon Goodman and Gerry Blakes.

It's like clockwork.

It's been a while since that first loss
