Archie Goodwin to get 2 year deal with Nets

Goodwin should be able to carve out a career, IF he accepts his limitations and focuses on defense. With NBA teams bombing away from 3 point range like never before, teams absolutely LOVE tall, athletic perimeter defenders.

I've always liked Archie and felt like he took too much blame for things that weren't his fault.

Agree 100%. Archie, for all of his faults, played his ass off for the Cats his one year here. Due to the limitations of the team, he ended up with the ball in his hand with 5 seconds left on the shot clock and was forced to improvise. Seems like a good guy and I'm glad his persistence is paying off. As another poster said, Archie's still very young and his athleticism is off the charts. With the right coach he should be able to become a very solid defender who will dunk on anyone if given the opportunity.

Happy for Archie and glad to see he is sticking with an NBA team and career for at least the next two years anyway. Hard to understand why there are posters on here who have been so critical of Goodwin. I know he's not the most popular of former Cats but he still is a UK guy and I'm pulling for the guy.

Because Archie wouldn't pass the ball on fast breaks.

Led the team in scoring, averaged 5 boards a game, tied for lead with assists per game, and shot better from the floor than Wiltjer, Harrow and Mayes.

Archie tried his best here, at times a bit too much, but his effort and actual results are over looked.

people use to get mad because cal forced the issue on the fast break early in the year and told them to go all the way to the basket and archie got called for like a hundred charges. but with the exception of wall and fox, pretty much every guard we had struggled at that early on. he is a great athlete and a very good slasher with and without the ball. i like his game a lot actually.
