That is a load of crap. Just let them keep it that way and when we beat UL it means we beat 2 number 1 teams.
This guy used to be a Red Sox beat writer and wasn't good at that. Possibly quite biased against Calipari, as are a lot of the sportswriters in New England. They're still butthurt that he left UMass 20 years ago.

Ok. So he started the season with Mich St st #1 and UK at #6. They play head to head on a neutral floor and UK wins, while leading for 90% of the game, and he drops Mich St to #5 and bumps UK only up to #4???
So, he had UK ranked too low to begin with, and it should have been crystal clear he did when UK knocked off Mich St. But, instead of correcting his error, he just bumps the rest up.

Why the rankings have no merit. Hate geared towards us. And in most cases ACC bias infiltrates the polls. So long as we're voted in 1st overall today then bragging rights. Each individuals opinion and polls is pure bullshit

You only need to look at UK and UNC last year to see that there is certainly a bias involved in these polls and it does have an effect in seedings for the NCAA tourney.
I'm not gonna get worked up over some randos random opinion 1 week into the season when everything is still unclear.
Exhibit 4,894 why preseason polls are worthless. Because an uninformed opinion rated a team too low, he is unwilling to vault that team all the up to where they should be because it doesn't feel right to leap over several others. Used to see this a LOT in football, and with a much shorter season, it really hurt teams because it was all about the polls.

It's garbage though, we beat the consensus #1 team and no one has a better win, period. The ranking isn't supposed to be who you think will be the best team, it's supposed to be merit based and UofL beat Miami, which is a far cry from MSU.
This is why I pay no attention to the polls. None.

When 64 of the 65 have us #1, I'm not really all that concerned with one writer.
He may think UK is overrated or he may just be very stubborn, very biased, or just being a jerk to get attention. If he really thinks UK is overrated, I wouldn't have a problem with it, either. But if it's anything else, I hope Parrish takes his dare (which is basically what the column is- "I dare you to call me out!") and writes a scathing column on this idiot.

I get it, but only 5 people didn't vote for MSU #1 and when you beat a team so overwhelmingly declared to be the best in the country, you deserve the recognition, especially when we were already consensus #2. There is no squirming around he can do to make this a legitimate vote. If Duke played MSU and won, then I'd have them #1 too because they'd have the best win and were already highly ranked.
I think the bigger issue IMO is the fact he thought we were 6th coming into the year when nearly everyone else had us ahead of that.
Because if he has us 2 or 3 or even 4 and we beat the #1 team on a neutral court it's basically a no brainer........which is why we are 1 in 64 out of 65 polls.
But what if u were this guy.........who has us 6th. Do you bump them up to 1 on the basis of 1 game? Probably not. I do think 4 is stil a bit ridiculous and the fact he bumped MSU down so far also makes me think he really does not like us lol. But i think it's his initial ranking that's the bigger problem.

I think thats fair, because no games had been played and we've often been over ranked to start a season. BUT, once he had evidence of our team, he corrected his error, which shows impartiality unlike this other deebag.

It was a big win and it's going to look great on our resume. It might even be our highest rated win of the season if MSU does what we think they are going to do. But we can't put too much stock into just one game.

Which is a valid point if the teams rankings were vastly different, like 150 vs 2. A valid point if we had more games to go on. But we don't the only thing we got is #2 beat #1 and should be ranked as such. If this was 26 games into the season I'd totally agree w/ your point.
Yeah if I’m a voter who is also not a Wildcat fan I would do the same because it’s a win win for him. If we get upset he’s the only one who looks like a genius and if we keep winning he can say we have improved enough to be #1. But I agree with the masses this doesn’t mean crap this early.
Some people like to be different and try to look smart by going against what everyone else thinks. They usually end up looking stupid in the process.
I like this at the moment... a big win in MSG last week against number 1 and still no respect. This give Cal some ammo - to keep pushing the guys and not listen to "rat poison".
